Some of these are close, some are months and months away. Fall is my busiest time of the year, so finding time will be a challenge but I intend to make the time. I've come too far. I guess I dont really have small 6 week goals, i'll just keep working out & chipping away at my list.

A rough time line/goal I have in mind for each of these is as follows.

 

Flag-Christmas
Slow controlled muscle up-Christmas
Front Lever-4 weeks
Planche hold-Very long ways off. Very, very long ways
L-sit to handstand on parallettes-March would be awesome, but I really have no idea.

 

My new set of rings should be getting delivered today so I am hoping adding those to my workout will expidite some of my goals. At the very least I'm looking forward to rings dips, more MU practice, front and back lever practice.

Looks a lot like my long term goals.

 

L-sit to handstand would be badass. One I really want to get in the future is straddle L to straddle planche.

 

Good luck on the front lever.  Constant source of aggravation for me, progress is sooooo sloowwww.  With how fast my planche is progressing, I'm not terribly far from my planche surpassing my front lever.

I love seeing overly ambitious challenge goals!  Best of luck, and I hope you beat your rough timeline for each exercise.  :)

That straddle to straddle would be cool. I don't know how long things should take, but it seemed my front lever, made great progress quickly, while just being able to even remotely get into a tuck planche hold is horribly difficult & slow.

 

Love the long-term goals - many of those are things I want too, but they're a bit further away! Looking forward to seeing your progress.

That straddle to straddle would be cool. I don't know how long things should take, but it seemed my front lever, made great progress quickly, while just being able to even remotely get into a tuck planche hold is horribly difficult & slow.

Took me about a year to go from able to hold a frog stand to able to hold a tuck planche for even a couple seconds. That was really brutal. Progressing to a tuck planche was so slooooowww.

But the way static stuff goes, it seems once you get to about 12-15 sec holds, you are on the verge of adding a bunch of time and it just seeming to get much easier, finally hit that point with the tuck planche, took about 9 months to go from a couple second tuck planche to 12-15 sec, but in the last 2 weeks its gone to 20 sec holds seeming a little easy, surely a 30 then 45 sec sec hold is just around the corner, and then advanced tuck holds.

Damn front lever though, been stuck at around 10-15 sec advanced tuck holds now for about 6 months, I've been able to hold a tuck front lever (at least for a few seconds) for a year and a half. I think that I'm pretty much maxed out on my physical capability with the front lever; the only way to improve it is to add muscle mass. Duing this last cut I made zero progress on the front lever while making slow but steady progress on the planche.

hehe good luck. What are you currently working on for your MU?

(Suggestion : false grip work and pull-up bar dips as low as you can)

I do bar dips and pull ups trying to pull as high as possible without kipping. I have rings that should be getting delivered any day now, so i will be able to do false grip work.

Nothing exciting to report, just my normal workouts. Still waiting on my rings. If I dont get them soon I wont get to use them for another week because I will be out of town. I hate waiting for new toys!

 

Been slacking a little on my flag work, I did some last night, at least I didnt regress any. But I need to include that work into my "normal" routine again. I don't know why I got away from them.

What brand of rings did you buy Rybo? And what were the reasons behind your choice?

 

 

I'm a bit curious too, as I'm considering getting some rings. SO I second Yuens question. 

I got the EXF plastic rings from ringtraining.com. It was a bit of an impulse buy, and this place was referred to by 2 different fitness websites for buying rings. They seem very nice, set up is simple. And it came with an awesome ebook on training and using them that included some really easy to follow tutorials.

 

And so they came in last night. I didnt have a ton of time to use them, but whoa are they hard. I could make a killing going to box gyms & finding meat heads and bet them how many rings push ups or dips they could do. And I would make a killing :)

 

I started as the book says just holding vertical and that wasn't too bad, not easy, but I managed fairly well for 15-20 secs at a time.

 

Then I tried a dip. Hard, very hard but I did one, might have been able to do a few more but I stopped there. THen i did some push ups on them. Really amazed how much more difficult they were compared to regular ones. But boy does this have me pumped that doing more difficult stuff will help me progress!

Hehe, glad you are enjoying the rings Rybo.

 

I'm planning on buying a set when I return to Australia. I don't want to buy them now because then I will have to lug them around in my luggage from country to country and it won't be so great for my luggage weight limits :)

 

I checked out the ringtraining.com site, but I'm thinking of just buying a cheapish pair off gumtree or amazon to be honest... I mean isn't it just a ring on a strap? And if you start slipping, just use chalk or something?

I forgot to tell everyone I was going to be gone all last week. Was out west doing a little elk hunting. Happy to say this was probably the best i've felt hiking the mountains.

Getting back into the swing of things after being gone a week. And incorporating ring work. Already can see myself getting mroe stable on the ring dips, but they are still crazy hard.

Also going to try one set of pull ups to a couple reps short of failure each morning, separate from my routine after work.
