Great job on your goals Teros! You are awesome, glad to see you have ideas brewing for next challenge, I don't think it is too early. It is in like 5 days or so after all!

thanks.  Apparently we get 2 weeks this time around though =/ I'd rather start this weekend so screw it- I'm doing a 7 week challenge.  Who's with me?

So I've been doing some delicious maths and a pumpkin pail can hold 22 cups of water, which translates into about 25 pounds of cement. That means I could turn a pumpkin pail into a 25 lb kettelbell when I stick the pvc pipe handle into it.

I found an old cheeseball container from target and that thing fits a whopping 40 cups of water, which translated into 45 pounds of cement.  So a 45 lb kettelbell.

I think I'll make both and try them out.

Nice work man. Based on what you have done I am looking at ways to make a variable weight sledge. I dont know if it will work but I was thinking just put weight on one side of one of those barbells that have a nut to keep the weights on and double nut it.

What if you got a standard sledgehammer head and used a piece of 2inch round stock for the Handle and welded that on. Then to add weight you could slide olympic plates up and to lock it in drill a hole though and just use a nut/bolt to stop the plates from sliding

So do you use the PVC pipe is a handle. Is that strong enough? What do you do?   I need a bigger KB for my swings, but I don't have the $$$. Maybe this would be a cheaper option. I love combining sledgehammer with Kettlebells

Not made yet- it's theorycraft right now.  I won't have access to an oven to bake the pvc pipe and mold it a bit until next friday, so I'll be making it then.  Pvc pipe should be tough enough to hold the cement up, but I want to put a bunch of nails halfway into the pipe so when I set the pvc pipe in the cement- there will be a more erratic dispersal so the cement wont slide off the pipe.

I've found some workouts with kettelbells on youtube and then I revisited sledgehammer exercises that can be done.  I honestly think a good kettlebell, tire, and sledgehammer is all you need for a whole multi-faceted workout.  I'm going to *attempt* a sledgehammer variant of russian rows. (Think those russian twists that you do with a medicine ball/kettlebell, but you're doing a bit of a rowing motion with the sledgehammer).

I'll also be making a tornado ball. I just need to dig around for an old basketball and need some more ducttape.

I think next challenge is going to be very interesting.

Fun.Interested to see how it turns out. Russian rows with the Kb will be killer. Have you seen this workout- http://www.projectswole.com/conditioning/build-mass-with-this-smashing-sledgehammer-and-kettlebell-workout/

"A sledgehammer and a kettlebell are two of the best ways to invest in your training"

Damn right.

Looking at this workout, it's already partially what I do.  Using a 20 pound warhammer, I do this Elastigirl:

25 x 2 Gravediggers (shoveling motion)

25 x 2 Butter Churn

25 x 2 Chop Wood (probably what the guy is saying is sledgehammer swings.)

20 x 2 Killswitch (think using 1 arm to swing/curl the sledgehammer from your knees to your shoulder)

40 Incline Pushups

40 Weighted Incline Crunches (I put 25 pounds of weight on my chest)

I'm brainstorming since the challenge doesn't start for another week but I'd like to have a 'base' workout, and then tack on some interesting side stuff as 'optional'.  That way I don't feel like I'm just going through the motions and have boredom set in. I want to keep kicking ass.

My brainstorming 'base':

30 Gravediggers

30 Butter Churn

30 Incline Pushups

30 Incline Weighted Crunches

Then I'll add other things.  Some options are:

Sledge Chop Wood

Sledge Killswitch

Sledge Rows (Sit on the floor, russian twists but row with the sledgehammer)

Sledge Squatz (Put the sledehammer behind your back like you're going to do a french press. Squat, then stand up and press)

Sledge Stab (Hold up in front of you like a spear and step forward+thrust)

Kettlebell Swings

Kettlebell Press (or 'The Yes Chant')

Kettlebell Axels (Get the kettlebell up to your forearm and in front of your chest, then fan it outward (like your thumb can poke you in the ear)

Tornado Castle Smashers (Back to the wall, swing side to side and hit the wall as hard as you can. Explosive power.)

Tornado Ball Slam (Overhead ground smash)

They changed the date last minute unfortunately!

Your workout sounds pretty killer TerosX :D good luck with next challenge I am starting to brain storm mine! I feel a tiny bit jealous of how you already have a good idea of what you want to do! I am going to have to have a big think, but it is starting to come together. I went and tried barbell stuff today and think I am keen to give it another shot soon so might make that part of my challenge if I can get myself organised!

EXCITED!

Looking forward to following your next challenge!

Lupus and I are both also doing 7 week challenges.  We start Monday the 4th.  :)  (thats why hes wondering if you have started the new group yet)

The threads all get archived so I didn't know if I should make a new thread- or just continue the RPG one we have and this thread.

Totally forgot to write that Sunday I worked out and did:

20 Tire Pushups

20 Weighted Incline Crunches

25 x 2 Gravediggers

25 x 2 Butter Churn

25 x 2 Wood Chop

10 x 2 Killswitch

10 x 2 Sledge Rows

Sledge rows were hard. I can't do an actual row since I have to keep switching hands, so instead I sat on the floor and did 5 'rows', then switched arms.  Did another set again so that's 20 sledge rows.  Very interesting. My arms burn like crazy after just 2 of them.  Horray for new exercise!

I've been eating whole 30 since last friday.  Today I had a lara bar and when I came home from work I reheated some beef+cabbage casserole.  Tonight I'll be having some ground beef with whole 30 pasta sauce and a ton of spaghetti squash. Maybe at night I'll have a handful of cashews and raisins.

I have a basketball net for the tornado ball. This Friday I will be attempting to make the kettelbells and tornado ball I think.
