Jonesy's 7th Challenge

Jonesy

Recommended Posts

This is going to be a tough challenge for me that's why I'm calling it my Tough Love challenge. I always seem to struggle with getting in my workouts and the following goals give me no room for slacking. As for my eating, I want to combat my sugar and food cravings and thought the Whole30 program would be helpful with that. I'm also going to try to find a Whole30 Accountability group because I think this will be needed.

7TH CHALLENGE GOALS - TOUGH LOVE CHALLENGE - Tracker

Goal 1 - Whole30 with possible reintorduction - + 5 CON
Grading-
This is pass or fail

Goal 2 - 3 days of cardio - + 3 STA + 2 DEX

Hey Jonesy.  you're going to be ok.  The start of Whole30 is quite hard for a lot of people, so if that's your focus, please don't be despondent if you don't get to your other goals for the first few days or week.  It will shift in again!

We've got your back :) Good luck xx

JONESY!  Hello again.  Been doing the Whole 30 for a week now and it's brutal.  Good luck.

Thanks Terosx! I have a huge sugar tooth so I expect it to be a very difficult month.

Thank you for the advice Blaidd! I've read the day to day timeline but I don't think I'll fully understand it until it actually happens to me.

Good luck with the whole 30! I hope it helps you out! I am going to stick fairly paleo but be a bit more flexible this challenge! Good luck with all your other goals, you can rock it!

Thank you! I know you were a reason I wanted to give the Whole30 a shot. You had such success and I want to accomplish the same. :)

Looks like some great goals there!  I'm cheering for you!

Thank you Devyn! I want to push past my week 3/4 blues and hope these goals might help!

Good luck with the Whole 30!  I plan on sticking mostly to the whole 30 style of eating this challenge.  Maybe branching into the paleo/primal stuff since they are so close.

Thank you Tateman! You had such good success with the Whole30 it gives me hope for myself! Good luck on our challenge.

Nice organization.  Just a quick question.  Do you know what's in the sausage? How do you make asian meatballs?  Sausages usually have some sort of no-no in them and I have no clue how to make asian meatballs. There might be an ingredient in that non-whole30.

You can get sausages without a bunch of crap in them. And if if it's the Asian Meatballs I think they are (from Nom Nom Paleo) they'r Whole30 approved.

Yes sausage can be tricky! With these, I do know what's in the sausage because I'm making them myself, you can find that recipe here from paleOMG.com. I'm only changing it a little and taking out the coconut sugar. I also found Aidells smoked sausages, those are the ones Tateman suggested. You need to read the label on that brand though because some flavors have added sugar other than fruit juice. As Devyn said, I got the recipe for Asian Meatballs from the website, nom nom Paleo.

Yes and yes! I'm finding that bacon is an issue around where I am and not so much sausage. The stores all sell bacon with added sugars and the butchers I called are all out. Lol. I'll be subbing the bacon this week with artichoke & garlic sausage until I can get bacon.

Wow that is one organised meal plan! I think you will be OK getting through this first week! Like Tateman says the slump is hard at first but it will pass!

Also I recommend lettuce or salad leaves with most meals as well for extra veg goodness. I often ended up using salad as like an extra plate for me meal :D

I have weekly meal plans for the whole challenge, right now. They might change as I get more comfortable and find out how much I really need to eat but it's a good start.

I was truly terrified of going Whole30 because I know how I am and changing my eating habits has always been something I said I could never do. My last challenge I did a lot of planning my meals and it helped me make better eating decisions, which pretty much lead me to thinking I CAN do Whole30. I just needed to do some research on meals and plan ahead. As for leafy greens, I detest salads I have to make myself. I also tend to waste a lot of my salad and forget to eat it before it goes bad. I do love spinach, which I'll be putting in my food but just eating a plain salad, at this point I won't do it. I want the Whole30 to be as painless as possible. Lol. Maybe once my taste buds get away from the everything must be sugary, I can add in some salad.

This is the kind of spread sheeting I needed to do on my whole 30.  Maybe it wouldn't have been so hectic for me in the beginning :)

Looks good!

Thanks. I do so much spread sheeting in google docs! I like it because I can view it on my phone.

Ah, I was thinking of just some random sausage links from the market, cuz those are packed with stuff.  I like that sausage recipe.  I think I'll be making that and whole 30 mayo this week.  I just need to decide if I want to make garlic mayo, spicey mayo, or plain mayo.

Garlic Mayo sounds sooooo good! Let us know how that turns out. :)

So the Beef & Veggie Chili turned out to be more of a stew but it taste amazing. Although it sure seems like it's going to be a lot more than 10 servings, I'm horrible at serving sizes when it comes to soup/stew/chili.

Can you get Applegate brand where you are?  That's what I buy. No sugars in it. It's also the brand of lunchmeat I buy since there are no added sugars and it's minimally processed.

Oh, and have you tried Chocolate Chili? It is AMAZING.

The Applegate that the Nature's Market near me has in stock, has either Maple sugar or evaporated cane sugar in it. I went looking for that brand, just for that reason and can't find a sugar free one. I'll just wait until one of the butcher's around me gets in Bacon.

I have not tried chocolate chili but I have a recipe for Cocoa Rubbed Roast that I will be trying soon.
