Wow, great goals!  I think it's awesome that you're trying to do Whole30, that's such a challenge and such a good way to clean up your diet.  Sorry to hear your leg is giving you trouble, but congrats on leaving your job and getting into the Winter Festival drumming group (your group looks so amazing!).

Let us know what books you're reading!  Have you thought about trying to make that goal more specific, like "I will read X and X by the end of the challenge" or "I will read one book every two weeks"?  I know for me, sometimes I have to put down that book I've been avoiding for a year and just start fresh.  Try a different genre, or a non-fiction book related to one of your goals.  Good luck!

Cheers! I actully did Whole 30 last challenge which was great, now I am just trying to be mostly primal/paleo :)

Thank you as well, it is great to be drumming again after this year hiatus and glad they selected me from the people trying out, I really love it. Thanks about my leg as well, it is a bit annoying but I think I can sort it out if effort and patience.

I guess I want to read Hydrogen Sonata by my birthday (12th of October) so I have a fair amount to read in 3 weeks or so. Then I don't know what I will move on to. I don't have much on my shelf that peaks my interest right now but I will keep an eye out in the charity shops.

Awesome drumming!!!

Congrats on leaving your pub gig. It sounds like that will definitely support your leg-strengthening theme this challenge (which is a great one!).

I've also recently been on a kick to finish books I've been reading far too long. Love that goal.

Hope that the new meds help out with your depression. That's so draining! Sounds like you are taking advantage of amazing and fun ways to keep your energy up though :) And I hope the no caffeine after 1 helps too. I know if I have caffeine too late in the day, I will have a "hangover" the day after... it's really weird.

Didn't start my Whole 7 unfortunately, but I started cooking up some great paleo grub these last couple of days. I am totally cheering for you, everywhere I turn people are doing Whole 30 this challenge which is awesome!

I was thinking the same.  Seems like Whole 30 is gaining a lot of momentum lately here.  It could just be I notice it more since doing it haha.

I think it's Christmas looming on the horizon ;) people want to be 'good' now, so they can be 'naughty' in a few months time! Are you still going to do the Whole7? You don't need to time it to fit the challenge, just do it when you're ready :)

Yeah, I think there is some of that too ;)

I'm already planning my paleo Christmas and its going to be fab I'm determined lol :)

Kingleeroy, ditto what Lady said, if now isn't the right time to do whole 7 don't push yourself in to it cause you're not going to enjoy it iykwim? Do it when you're ready :)

Luff the reading more goal, im working my way through Karen Rose's collection again during naps and im loving it :)

Amd Awesomeness on the drumming! I play violin :)

I feel like I am much stronger already from doing the Drumming! In fact this last this last week I have felt a lot better. I think the drumming and extra socialising that comes with it has really helped.

Yesterday I had a great practise and a good catch up with my friends in the group in the pub after over a couple of pints (oops). I did sleep like a log though, woke up early in the morning and managed to fall back asleep. Woke up and spent quality time in bed with my boyfriend, book and a nice cup of tea. He made me bacon and scrambled eggs. Best couple of days I have had in a long time.

Thanks Katia, yes I am hoping it will give me the opportunity to really work on it and not just feel like I am running into a brick wall!

Still on my old meds for now.  My doctor has given me a months worth of my current meds because Iwasn't certain about changing them then and then when I go back for assessment then I guess we can start changing them then. :)

It is really good for upper body stuff! It is also great for upper leg strength as we carry the drums round our waists :)

Yes! As much as giving up booze for probably about 2 months was good for me, I am really enjoying having a couple of drinks with them. I always know that I can quit again at some point if I want to, maybe in November after the festival is done.

Sound like an excellent day :)

It really was, it was a nice day in general. Glad it happened, it's nicer to spend time together now he has this new job. It feels like better quality time.

Absolutely Tateman, I think you are pretty much solely responsible for people being inspired to do it!

3. Recovery (2 CON): No caffeine beverages after 1pm. I need to have a steady energy level and be able to get a lot more sleep so I  will avoid tea and coffee and drink soothing herbal teas instead.

4. Start reading more books (3 WIS): I've had a book for nearly a year and I am not even half way through it, I want to finish the book and then start a new one. I used to read so much but seem to have gotten out of the habit, when I was at uni I used to listen to audio books which helped me keep on top of books. I have a lot of time on my hands and I should spend some of it reading instead of sitting mindlessly in front of the computer.

Side Quest: Try out barbell lifting.

3 would absolutely kill me.

I approve of 4.

Side quest should be fun.

Great progress, KL.  Getting to be with your friends, in the drumming community, has got to be a boost to the soul and the body.  I am going to try whole 7.  Not sure when but it will be during this challenge.  Let us know how the book is!  And what a good boyfriend, to make you breakfast.  You know, it sounds like overall you are having a better life - less stress, more relaxing, more friendship and companionship, better situation overall.  Bravo!

So far 3 has been OK, I think drinking less last challenge due to lack of having milk in tea meant I've adjusted somewhat easier, I do keep needing a nap though!

I am enjoying reading more, hoping to get some more done at night as I tend to feel sleepy very quickly and in the mornings.

I am hoping I get to do my side quest I just don't have a plan for it yet, now I am drumming and I feel my bicep muscles developing I really want to get on the strength training even more!

Glad to hear the drumming is going so well and it's great that you're feeling better too.  Sleeping in late, good company, good book AND BACON!!! I'm jealous

Thanks Joe, I think drumming is good for my mental health. It was a good day, I wasn't trying to make people jealous!

Thanks Welkin, don't be jealous! I am just surprised on my improved mood and hope it sticks around for a while. Oh no, I dunno why you can't see the spreadsheet. Is anyone else having problems?

Thanks Legolady, drumming is good for my mental health, I dunno why it helps so much I guess that is what makes it so addictive and I keep wanting to do it every time there is a festival now. You should try it, it is hard in the first week of Whole30 but I you find it a useful experiment!

The book is good, I love Iain M Banks, I really sad that he died recently and glad I got to meet him. Yeah he doesn't cook as much as me so I think he felt bad that I had done a lot of house stuff this week so it was sweet of him. Yeah there has been a significant improvement since I quit my job, hope it sticks around and it continues to be up from here, we shall see how it goes!

Yeah, beating an inanimate object is awesome, but I think there's also something totally primal related to drumming (doing and hearing it). Hearing really awesome drumming just unlocks something silent but strong inside and just courses through me. Love it :) Same thing with an excellent heavy bass line and the cello (of all things).
