Hello Warriors!

I made the switch from Rangers to the Warriors Guild from the suggestion of a friend and also because I freaking love to move heavy weight.

I'm a CrossFit devotee (been doing it for almost two years straight) who enjoys running and is a HUGE COMIC BOOK GEEK.

If you've read Infinity Crisis, know Darkseid's origin, and can recite lines The Watchmen without referring to the book, then congratulations - we are now best friends!

Anyways, let's get started with my fourth challenge!

MAIN QUEST: TO GET STRONGER

MISSIONS!

* Keep a daily workout log of my CrossFit WOD's. My goal is to log each workout as well as note any improvements or deficiencies that may have occurred.

* Run (at least) one mile a week. I enjoy running and believe it will help compliment my CrossFit training.

* Try one new supplement each week. I intend to research into different supplements and experiment to see what would be best suited to help me reach my main quest. I plan to seek new (and possibly uncoventional!) supplements rather than my usual Fish Oil and Multivitamin stuff. I am definitely open to suggestions!

LIFE QUEST!

* Read three comic books a week. I want to set aside time to read either a brand new book or uncover one of my classics. Reading comic books is a form of escapism for me and gives me a sense of relaxation and serentity that is much needed due to the high level of stress I endure at work.

You'll do awesome. You should list your starting PRs for lifts so you can measure any gains. maybe? Or your bicep size. Must be like a D cup by now. :D

Welcome!

I switched from Scouts to Warriors because although I love running I needed to work on strengthening my chassis.

This has been a really supportive group of people.

“Barbaraâ€

Five rounds, each for time of:

20 Pull-ups

30 Push-ups

40 Sit-ups

50 Squats

Rest 3min in between rounds

Total time was around 45 minutes. I noticed when I started breathing and exhaling during the workout was when things went by much more smoother. I hit muscle fatique pretty quickly with the push ups and pulls ups so I definitely need to work on that. Also, I tore my f*cking hand when all was said and done! Yowza!

Creatine!

 

Creatine Kinase is an enzyme in aerobic and anaerobic muscle metabolism. Basically it expedites the conversion of energy (ATP) in the Phosphogen Cycle and Kreb's Cycle in smooth and skeletal muscle tissues.

 

If you want to hear me rattle on about it for an hour I can (Oh, I'll give you all the mechanisms) I'd be happy to. Buuuut I highly doubt that so here is a more simplified version specific to sports:

Hmmm, I'm not sure about my Push Jerk or Thruster Max. I want to say I can lift 155 lbs for Thrusters!

3 high hang (1st position) Muscle Snatches every 30sec for 8min @50% 1Rm

Then:

12DB Push Press m45/w40

Max Effort ManMakers m45/w30

* Today went surprising well. My hand has healed nicely and didn't affect me at all. I had no issues with the High Hang Muscle Snatches and made the transition from the hang to the overhead quite easily and efficiently. Granted, I used 65# which is no heavy weight but for that many reps...

The METCON was tough! I used 35lbs dumb bells for the Push Press and Man-Makers and was able to knock out 9 reps (only the man-makers counted as reps). I need to work on my conditioning. Perhaps a change in diet is in order?

Core work afterwards.

* I kicked this workout's ass. My time was 7:12 and I was only 4 seconds behind from the fittest guy at the box! The only issue I came across was that I tended to shift forward when fatique set in and did not keep my weight on my heels.

I tried to go running afterwards and noticed it was raining slightly. I was, eh, I'll finish the mile at least. Anyways, midway through the run, it started pouring! I got soaking wet. Boooooo Mother Nature.

* Picked up my box from the comic book store today! I'll post my reviews of the three comics that I read.

* Darn! Forgot to buy Creatine.
