Squats with a bar is totally doable for you, just be careful of form. I know you can do it!

Oh I will! I'm at 70 jump squats now. As soon as I pass the 100 mark, I'm going to be doing them with a bar in the gym. Hopefully people are nice at my campus gym :-/

Eating half way decent this weekend despite that I'm away. Plus Applebee's has bacon vinaigrette for salads! Aghhhhhhh yes! Why did I not think about this before? I'll have to look up a recipe. Haven't gotten a solid nights sleep in a while but having a great time seeing my baby brother. Plus I got up early (5am) both mornings because I'm so used to being up early for lunch. Yesterday morning I hit my second run of the week because I was up so early, found an adorable little pond with duckies, yay! I took a picture, I'll share once I'm on a real computer. So that means my scores for the week:

Running: 2/2

Lifting: 2/2

Cooking: 2/2

Extra: Zumba .5

Total 6.5/6!

Last weeks score was 4.5/6 so my total thus far is 11/12, woohoo!

I was going to run at 5am this morning but it was raining so I accepted today as a rest day and am looking forward to another week of challenge, 1/3 done y'all (since I'm in the south today) so good luck on it

Holy cow girl..you are destroying it this week...Awesome job! It is funny how much this community affects you in keeping your workouts up and active. You actually start looking forward to working out so you can get on here and post how well you are doing LoL...It's so cool to have people just as excited as you are....I don't really have anyone around here that is as pumped about jogging(that I can keep up with)...or who actually wants to go lift on a consistent basis...It's like everyone following my progress goes with me though...It's awesome

Keep it up!! 4 weeks to go!

Don't worry about it if they aren't. Don't give them the power to intimidate you! Because there will always be at least that one guy who will make stupid comments or think you don't belong there or think you don't know what you're doing because you're female or you just want to be hit on because you're female in the weights section. Just ignore them. You'll find nice people there I'm sure, but make sure the random icky guy doesn't make it less than fun for you.

Thanks, I know, I feel like everyone I follow is into different things as far as workouts and goals but I think it makes me want to learn or try new things.

Question all: Has anyone tried C25K? I have the IPhone 4S (haven't updated to IOS7 yet becuase I haven't actually been home long enough to since the update came out) but I updated my app last week and ever since when I use it the app seems to lose track of where I am and move backwards. Saturday I started running and at it somehow moved backwards to the 5 minute walking warmup. I kept pushing myself because I thought I was being a pansey and couls'nt even run 3 minutes but it ended up being far more than 3 minutes. My phone is locked and in my jacket pocket and I don't touch the little button on the earbuds so I don't think it is me. Any ideas or has anyone else had that problem?

Today should be a run and cooking dinner for myself. YAY!

Sounds like you are doing amazing. Weekends are always tricky. I probably drank too much beer this weekend, but my hockey team keeps winning playoff games so I must celebrate. But it is not about being perfect.

Looking forward to your bacon vinaigrette experiments :)

I'm a time traveler, but I can only go one way and only a second at a time.

Just thought I'd say hi! Followed you over from the Stealthy Ninja Bastard's recipe thread. Haha, I love how you zumba with your gran, I wish I could, but she's too far away! ;) And Ender's Game has been a favourite book of mine for a few years as well! Sometimes I get bored and start re-reading it. Have you read any of the other books in the series?

I am currently working on C25K...I am on Week 4 Day 2...I started on Week 4 because I've done some minor running(5 minutes at a time) before I downloaded the program. I did Day 1 ok but Day 2 was a little rough. I really like it...I chose to do distance over time...because I probably run slower than the app would consider someone running at. I just want to finish running not run for 20 minutes and only get half way.

If you buy the app there is way more stuff like 5 - 10k training...and even half marathon training...but if you are not used to running and might run a little slow I would definitely do distance over time...just so you can finish...Good Luck! Let me know how it goes!

It vibrates and speaks to you when your interval time is up..so really it's like a set it and forget it type thing.

Hi Sicil, I reread Ender's Game quite a bit! I've also read Speaker for the Dead and Xenophile. Ender's Game is without a doubt one of my absolute favorite books. Have you read any of the others? I keep an eye out for them at half-price books but I've heard from a lot of people that they don't live up.

Ran another day of week 3 C25K yesterday, almost made it, but I'll for sure be running week 3 again (on Friday).

Also made myself dinner, pizzas because we had leftover stuff from last week. Not the best meal but I have had worse.

Plus I spent yesterday making apple chips and apple butter, because it is the season! Also, both projects make your house smell amazing.

For apple chips I slice apples super thin with a mandolin and lay them out on parchment paper covered baking sheets, sprinkle them with cinnamon (you can add sugar if you like) and bake at 250 for 30 minutes, flip them and bake another 30 minutes or until done. So easy and a great snack.

Apple butter is similarly easy. If you want to do it the hard way, peel, core, chop, and boil down apples, then mash them. The easy way is to grab a big jar of apple sauce. Dump the apple mush of choice in a crock pot add (optional) a smidge of apple cider and (also optional) nutmeg. Then add brown sugar, cloves, and cinnamon. All of these are to taste. I like my apple butter to have a bit more kick so I do add nutmeg and apple cider and a good bit of the other spices. This only lasts about 2 weeks because there are no preservatives in it.

I love apple butter, honey, plain greek yogurt, and cashews for breakfast so I enjoy making apple butter.

2 goals of 6 down and I hope that everyone else is having as good a week 3.

I saw that link. Unfortunately, what makes caramel caramel is sugar. I guess everything in moderation, but if I'm going to indulge in a sugary treat might as well make it the real thing.

Sugar is sugar in my eyes.

Probably true, I'm not a stickler so I guess I don't often stress over it. I totally agree with the moderation route, the healthier the better but I don't completly ban stuff from my diet, and the PMS monster appreciates that.

I believe I've read all, or nearly all, of them. They were still good, but none appealed to me the way the first book did. Guess they had a lot to live up to. ;) They're worth a read if you're interested in the setting but.... Yeah. Nothing special.

Like I said, I'm keeping an eye open for them but I'm not rushing to find them. What other books are you into? I love a good book reccomendation, and I read just about any genre.

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss is the best one in my recent memory. The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson started off strong, but just like Ender's Game, the first one is definitely the best. I'm usually on the fantasy side of the spectrum, but I'll read anything if the story and characters are engaging enough. What I loved about Ender's Game was that it didn't get lost in technobabble. What's on your recommendation list?
