fluffyrin42
Ok, folks. Last challenge wasn't very optimal. I had a rough go the last few weeks and now is the time to get back on track. So this is going to look pretty familiar to those who've followed me before. Main Quest: Become the Best Pre-Mama I CanAs you know, my husband and I are trying to become parents. My goals are to set myself up for some healthy baby growin' and knock down some bad habits I don't want to pass along to future kids. Mission 1: Be a Strong Role ModelLast challenge started strong and then died a sad and miserable death. I don't really want to change it up too much, so goal remains the same: exercise 5 times each week. With winter coming, I'm going to need to shift my schedules slightly to workout more in the afternoons. I'm not a fan of running in the dark...5 Points to be divided amongst STR and STA depending on what I feel improved most.A: >90%B: 80-89%C: 70-79%D: 60-69%F: <59% Mission 2: Be a Healthy Role ModelTowards the end of the last challenge, things got lazy and we started eating out a LOT. It was hard on the budget and hard on my gut, so this challenge is to reign that back in. My goal this challenge is to eat in. That means planning in advance, shopping ahead, and making sure that I'm ready for the week. I'll give myself two eat-out meals each week (we like to eat breakfast out on the weekends and it gives me one grace meal the rest of the week as well.+2 WIS, +2 CONA: <12 mealsB: 13-14 mealsC: 15-16 mealsD: 17-18 mealsF: >19 meals Mission 3: Model Good BehaviorTowards the end of the challenge, I was really failing on some of the routines I had started to establish. This is important, so we're giving it another go. AM: Brush teeth, floss, wash face, sunscreenPM: Brush teeth, floss, wash face, take vitamins Each routine will be counted separately (so if I miss my morning routine, I'll still get credit for a PM routine).+2 CON, +1 CHA (everybody likes a fresh smile better, right?)A: >90%B: 80-89%C: 70-79%D: 60-69%F: <59% Supplemental Mission:I am stiff, sore, and my neck is all kinds of wacky lately. fluffyrin42
Week 1 / Day 1 Status: So, I'm guessing you've all heard about the floods in CO last week. Needless to say, my hometown was one of the major areas hit, my work was shutdown for a few days, and we were crossing our fingers that the house wouldn't suffer major damage. We lucked out and never really got major high water around our neighborhood, but the street out to the main road washed away and both my husband's and my primary (and secondary and tertiary) routes to work are all still closed. Yesterday we also discovered that our basement hadn't come through quite as unscathed as we'd hoped and apparently water has been seeping up through the foundation. So the morning was a last minute scramble to towel up as much moisture as we could, set up every fan we own, and try to keep the moisture from getting up into the drywall. Needless to say, in the rush to get things done and out the door (to try and beat the INSANE traffic), I forgot to put dinner in the crockpot. I've also been instructed to try and make up some of the hours from the office closures last week, so I had a long day at the office, coupled with a nasty commute home and more carpet triage in the evening. Needless to say, goals kinda took a back seat. Mission 1 Strong (0/5): Basically never stopped moving until it was time for bed. Didn't get much in. Mission 2 Healthy (1 meal): Forgot to start dinner in the morning and really didn't have time in the evening. Made a quick run for fast food. :-/ Mission 3 Good Behavior (1/14): Did the bedtime routine. Supplemental Sleep (1 point): We switched out all the wall outlets over the weekend and installed blackout shades... I didn't realize that my paranoid hubby had unplugged EVERYTHING (including the alarm clock) from the walls to avoid any fire risk (?!?) and blackout shades meant my usual backup alarm (our dog who gets up at sunrise like clockwork) failed me. I got up at 6:07 and was in bed by 9:27. Didn't even read. Just conked. FluffyRin -- Ranger (Level 4)STR 4 | DEX 3 | STA 4.5 | CON 10 | WIS 10 | CHA 6Challenges: 1, 2, 3, 4, Current Link to comment
DirtyLittleSecrets
Awe, poor Fluffy . Sucks, we had flooding in my area a few weeks back and it was pretty terrible. One of the local businesses didn't have flood insurance and their entire basement filled. It's horrid and completely understandable that you didn't do much of anything! But, you did do your night routine (awesome btw). So, considering what happened I say you're still off to a strong start. Carry on! Yeah, to be honest, I feel terrible complaining about the little bit of water damage we've had. It ruined carpet we were planning to replace anyway, but the timing is a little earlier than we'd hoped. All things considered, I'm ok with how yesterday went. Ah, life happens. Don't despair. You can get it on track. Thanks. I'm geared up to get on track today. I was getting ready to ask how you were fairing with the "biblical" amount of rain (according to the National Weather Service) you guys were having. I am glad you are, for the most, part dry at this time. Focus on what you can and keep yourself safe. The rain has been INSANE. The water blew through 100 year flood plains within hours. Luckily it has been sunny all day today, so hopefully things will start to dry out quickly. Stay dry and safe! Glad you got in some of your goals with all that craziness going on. That is dedication! Haha! Thanks. You'd think with a couple extra days to prepare I'd have been on top of this challenge, but alas. No place to go but up! We let people slide a bit for natural disasters. My go-to emergency meal is an omlet - I can make an omlet as fast as I can go get fast food. lol. Fair enough. For a while we had some frozen pre-cooked chicken that we could microwave, but to be honest, I was just mentally spent. It was as much a comfort/binge move as a practical one... But food is in the crockpot for tonight and I made enough to use for the next two days. So tonight is already taken care of.
