I'm back! Yay! Finally! I've missed you guys so much! :D

 

For those of you who didn't follow my last challenge, I got injured the very last week of it and haven't been able to workout since which sucks big hairy turtle balls. It's been over 2 months now and the pain has gone down but still flares up randomly. That and I miss working out like crazy.

As you may or may not know/remember, I went to the doctor's after it happened and he said it was tendinitis (without giving it a look or touch), told me to rest it and that it'd go away within 10 days. Yeah. Sure. And my name is Stupid. It obviously didn't go away within 10 days (not that I expected it to). Well, I'm just back from another doctor and he told me it's absolutely not tendinitis, the pain isn't even at the right spot for it to be so (!!) and that I've actually injured myself. There isn't much to be done as my arm will heal itself over time but he recommended physiotherapy as he could very easily tell the lack of workouts is driving me nuts. I guess me saying "I don't care about the pain, I just want to workout again" put him on the right track! :P Anyway, my first physio appointment is on the 30th. Until then, I'm of course not allowed to workout, I can't even swim which I was planning on doing.

 

So my goals for this challenge will have to be geared towards me not going crazy and taking care of myself. Yeah, not fun, but I'll hopefully be all healed up for the next challenge and I have some super exciting stuff in mind (including our awesome move from Denmark to NZ) for it.

 

Goal #1: Take care of my body. (+2 CON, +1.5 CHA)

I haven't put any weight on since I've stopped working out (yay for being 99% paleo!) and have actually quite possibly lost some (yay for biking at least 15km a day!) but I still have some fat to lose. The only thing I can see needs to go is nuts, I've been snacking on them like they're running out of style. My goal is obviously to stop mindlessly snacking on them. And bacon.

I'm allowing myself a maximum of 10 almonds/cashew nuts as snacks twice a day. Not a nut more. And no snacking on bacon. Seriously, who does that?!

 

Goal #2: Take care of my skin. (+2 CHA, +1 WIS)

I've always been incredibly sucky at being a girl and taking care of myself, especially of my skin. I don't wear make up, I don't moisturise, I don't use masks or do whatever girls usually do, I can't be asked. Well it's time this changed (a tiny bit)!

The plan is to moisturise every day and use aloe vera on my face every morning and evening. Including weekends. Especially weekends.

 

Goal #3: Take care of my sanity. (+3 WIS)

In order to not go crazy, I will meditate every morning as soon as I get up. Starting with 2 minutes and adding a minute every week as the challenge goes on.

 

Goal #4: Take care of my brains. (+3 WIS, +1.5 CHA)

As you may remember, I started taking Danish classes and passed the first module (out of 6 - 6 being university level). Well I dropped out last week after 5 weeks of module 2 (as did over 50% of the class!). The teacher was terrible and I wasn't learning anything. The classes were 4 hours a day (+ homework), 3 mornings a week; I have better and more important things to do (read work and get stuff ready for our imminent departure) than to waste my time. I still want to learn Danish though and have borrowed the first two Harry Potter books to help with that.

My goal is to finish at least the first one by the end of the challenge. I've started it already but still haven't made it past the first chapter (I'm half way there). I'm only a beginner and have to check a lot of words in the dictionary so it takes a lot of time and patience and is very tiring but no excuses, it has to be done!

Welcome back,Chris! :)  It's soooo nice to "see" you again and to hear about how things are going. I'm really sorry you're injured, but I'm happy you went and got a second opinion. 

 

You've got a decent set of goals going. :) A small tip on being a girl when it comes to skin (I'm not really one but I try.. ) is just getting a bottle of jojoba oil and use that as your moisturiser. It does wonders for your skin, at least it does for mine, and it doesn't contain any creepies. A small bottle will last you forever. :)

 

Hehe, reading Harry Potter is an awesome way of learning a new language! *tips her wizard hat* I really hope it's working for you! :)

Welcome back!  I think this set of goals sounds just about perfect while you're doing rehab stuff.  Hopefully, you'll at least be cleared to swim soon. 

 

I'm still so mad at your first doctor.  :neglected:

I'm sorry that you are hurt, but I have to admit that knowing your sweet personality and that adorable smiley profile picture paired with you saying "sucks big hairy turtle balls" is hilarious.

 

But I think your goals are fantastic and it's great that you're pursuing goals even though you're not 100%.  Go you!

I agree one hundred percent. Your challenge is awesome, your profile pic is adorable, and "sucks big hairy turtle balls" is my new favorite phrase. Go forth and kick ass. (Or turtle testicles. Whatever.)

I got some body milk from Korres which is a "green" brand so it doesn't contain any of the nasties and creepies most brand use. That and it smells amazing! :P But thanks so much for the advice!

 

It's funny because this is the 3rd language I'm reading the Harry Potter books in! It does take ages but it feels like such a victory when I don't need to translate anything for a full paragraph. Woot! It's the small victories that count, right?! I sure hope that'll happen more and more often as I go on though.

They are good goals for the situation but they are still quite boring... I miss working out so badly! I haven't picked heavy weights in so long and won't be able to for a very long time as I cancelled my gym membership as we're leaving in 2 months... *sad but excited nonetheless*

 

I'm mad at him too, it's just nuts you can be so incompetent! grrr!

It looks like you have a lot of great ideas in mind to make sure you are well all around! I'm so sorry to hear your pain isn't gone completely. Does it interfere with your regular life? Any idea how to avoid the injury in the future?

It does to some extent sadly. I can't pick up a camera for too long for example (which sucks when you have to digitise all your important papers and your husband's Viking books!) and I'm not supposed to be on the computer much which sucks as I need to for work... It's just annoying really but I can deal with it, I've had way worse injuries.

No idea how to avoid the injury, I guess I'll just have to be even more careful.

wow the Fiji's not bad ^^ you're really going to do a world tour, you and your hubby  still jealous

The blog will be about our life as travelling indie game developers, so it'll have a gazillion pictures + we'll most probably talk about what we're working on and our healthy, sporty lifestyle. We'll see but there certainly will be loads of pictures :D

I really can't wait for our new life to begin, 55 days, 16 hours and 2 minutes to go :P

No kidding, I remember the shock (THE SHOCK I TELL YOU!) when I went to a supermarken in KBH... A WHOLE WALL OF BACON! Well, maybe a little less than a wall, but still, bacon everywhere! And so many different brand and variety!

I know, it's awesome!! We buy the most amazing, super fatty, organic bacon. It is so frigging delicious!!!! The shop we go to has pretty much 2 walls of bacon, it's insane! :D

Thanks for the idea of reading HP on another language. It only JUST hit me how brilliant that is. If you're an HP geek already (guilty), you know the stories left, right, backwards, and forwards so your brain would have a big boost already. And it's always fun to re-read them. Clever.

Anyway, did you hear Ms. Rowling is writing a movie about Newt Scamander? It's going to be based in New York in the 20s! So excited.

Thanks for the idea of reading HP on another language. It only JUST hit me how brilliant that is. If you're an HP geek already (guilty), you know the stories left, right, backwards, and forwards so your brain would have a big boost already. And it's always fun to re-read them. Clever.

Anyway, did you hear Ms. Rowling is writing a movie about Newt Scamander? It's going to be based in New York in the 20s! So excited.

I know, that's so freaking awesome!!! It's such a brilliant turn of events after so many years of her saying she wouldn't do a wizarding-world related movie again. I jumped all around my flat when I read the news!! :D

 

I'd advise you read it in a language you are fairly good at already, it's really frustrating and time consuming when you have to check every second word in google translate. I read 5 pages today and it took well over an hour. It's brilliant because I can't read the H.P. books often enough but still, it certainly is a lot of work. Worthwhile work, but work anyway.
