vortexofsleep
I think I will update weekly. I could update every day but I want to allow time for some results to happen and this way you all won't get over saturated with all things Batman. So come back on Sundays because that is when I will let my progress be known:) I did my first BBWW last night. During my first set I did 5 in a row before getting pain in my shoulder. No excuses. I'm going to keep working at it until I achieve that first goal. Yeah, things can get overwhelming here sometimes. Update when you want, and comment on others when you are able. There's a strong spirit of unity and I think overall people realize that if you're not posting/commenting you're probably doing something else worthwhile! I forced myself to work through that sense of pressure/guilt quickly by realizing the focus was achieving my goals, not quitting because I felt I couldn't keep up with the forums. Yikes, be careful of that shoulder! I was horsing around with the door pullup bar and using it for dips. Problems: 1. Never did dips before. 2. Didn't warm up at all. So yeah, now I have to be super careful because I pulled/tore my deltoid a little. Like sometimes it hurts pulling up my pants. So not batman. I was born in Cali and have family out there (currently in PA). Ahhh! Where in PA are you? I'm in York. PM me if you are uncomfortable putting it out there. (And if you're uncomfortable telling me, that's fine too, haha.) Level 4 Twi'lek AdventurerSTR: 3 | DEX: 4 | STA: 7 | CON: 10 | WIS: 10 | CHA: 5.5Current ChallengeDo not betray your fellow bats. Batwoman
Yes. I can see how keeping up with this can be hard. I want to respond to everyone individually because you are all so wonderful, but yes I have a life to lead off of the boards. Just know, that much like Batman, I will keep vigilant eye on how all the citizens of Nerd Fitness are doing. You're all great and this is as excited I've been for exercise and dieting at any time in my life. You can just call them 70% or modified pushups instead of "girly" pushups. Its more accurate and less sexist. That is awesome and I will use that now. Oversaturated with Batman? No way! LOVE your quest! Best of luck There can never be too much batman AGREED! This is awesome! Found this! That actually looks like me. When I actually get around to putting lipstick on and if I were 40 lbs lighter. Ahhh! Where in PA are you? I'm in York. PM me if you are uncomfortable putting it out there. (And if you're uncomfortable telling me, that's fine too, haha.) I live in Perkiomenville. Which probably means nothing to you. So I will say that I'm like 45 minutes north of Philadelphia. I did go to college out towards central Pennsylvania though. I went to Lebanon Valley College. Jazzybell
I'm echoing everyone else when I say I love your theme!!! Great goals! Have you considered making a meal plan or planning a grocery list for the week so you can stick your paleo-ness?Last year I kick-started paleo-eating with paleoplan.com. It's $10/month for meal plans/grocery lists/recipes...Cheap hack: You can sign up and get a free month of meal plans and then cancel your membership before it charges you...then recycle that month of menus as needed. It takes the thinking out of eating paleo, but also keeps you from thinking, "...ugh. steamed broccoli and chicken breast again..." Best of luck to you, Batwoman! AverageJoe
Paleo can get monotonous if you let it. The key is to get creative, experiment and shamelessly steal everyone else's recipes from their threads . For instance, last challenge I figured out how to make "Paleo Ice cream" from bananas and honey! I also just stole a recipe for mashed cauliflower from Tateman (http://nerdfitnessrebellion.com/index.php?/topic/36782-tateman-round-3-ready-to-form-voltron/) It was awesome. Good luck on the motorcyle goal, I got my license years ago and can't wait until I can afford a bike again. Half/Ogre, Ranger Level 0STR: 0, Dex: 0, STA: 0, Con: 0, WIS: 0, CHA: 0 Link to comment
acrimony
Does mashed cauliflower really taste that good? I love cauliflower with a load of butter and a bit of salt but I tried cauliflower "rice" once and it sucked. I'm a girl who loves to try new foods and I've eaten a lot of new things in my life that I love immediately. Cauliflower rice is not one of those things. My motivational, yet sarcastically awesome, sig. Link to comment

I'm a girl who loves to try new foods and I've eaten a lot of new things in my life that I love immediately. Cauliflower rice is not one of those things. I love mashed cauliflower. Well I love a lot of things, but my thought is that you can make pretty much anything taste good. Just think of each step like you're adding flavor. Maybe boil the cauliflower in vegetable stock instead of water. Perhaps roast it first for that delicious roasted veg flavor. You can still add butter as a Paleo but it would need to be clarified. The crappy parts about butter is what they add to it. Then the key is the amount of salt you add. I know that too much sodium is no good, but salt brings out the natural flavors in food, hence yum. It's nearly as good as mashed potatoes, but ten times better for you. I also love cauliflower rice, but I've always been a cauliflower fan. I really want to make a Mexican cauliflower rice recipe. acrimony
Do you all blend your cauliflower? I love the consistency of mashed potatoes, the cauliflower rice consistency just didn't resonate with me. If I can get mashed cauliflower reasonably close to mashed potato consistency then I'll be willing to try it. Speaking of cauliflower, I keep seeing purple cauliflower on TV. none of my stores or local produce stands have it. Is it just seasonal? My motivational, yet sarcastically awesome, sig. Batwoman
I do mash/puree cauliflower/celery root/parsnips like mashed potatoes if I'm going for that. I also quite enjoy cauliflower just raw. It's not seasonal, although peak season is in the winter time. It's just a different variety. I don't know the science behind it or the reason why it is a different color, but it does come in green and orange too. I'm a time traveler, but I can only go one way and only a second at a time.
