The rain was falling heavily through the leaves of the forest in which I found myself. I huddled close to the tree I was sheltering under. I sniffed miserably at the weather. I had to leave the brotherhood for a short while to see to my education but I knew my training was not going to be forsaken. I had been travelling through these woods for several days now and had grown sick of trees and moss and branches and the rain. Blimey I was cold. I stood up again and kept on moving to get home quickly, the anticipation of being inside in front of the fire drinking tea spurred me on to keep on running in between the trees.

 

As I felt my mind fall into ‘the zone’ my mind went back to the day before I left the Citadel. I had just given my new challenge proposition to my Master and was awaiting his opinion on it. Soon I was called into his room. I entered it nervously and stood before him awaiting his commentary. He looked at me from over his desk were my challenge written on parchment laid. I always felt nervous when he looked at me like that; a scrutinizing gaze that I felt could look at the essence of my very being. I fidgeted nervously on my two feet, the weight of my newly acquired Assassin blade weighing on my arm. My mentor cracked into a smile and laughed softly;

 

‘At ease young one, you’re not being judged. I have looked over your proposal and approve of it. It seems like you’re already reaching up and trying to reach your goal.’

 

‘Thank you Master.’ I relaxed a little bit.

 

‘Your Main Quest still hasn’t changed: being able to run parkour for 30 min. And you seem to be moving steadily in that direction. Now remind me your fitness goals on the side.’

 

‘This challenge I will attempt to complete: 12 clap push-ups, 30 squats with a 5kg dumbbell and 20 close hand press-ups.’

 

‘Very well, I hope to see you succeed within a month then. What about this life quest?’

 

‘Some time ago I acquired the ancient scrolls of the Art of Manliness that I have poured over. It made me feel to want to change myself for the better, thus I will apply its rules of etiquette to my life to become an even better Gentleman.’

 

My master nodded, ‘Impressive young one, there are not many men who have that attitude out there. I hope you will find your way and yourself in that quest.’

 

‘Thank you Master. Lastly I will attempt in a side quest to complete a hand stand push-up without prioritizing it.’

 

‘Very good…I look forward to hearing about your next challenge. Now I know you are leaving us for a short while to take care of your education. I just hope you’ll remember to send me an owl to update me on your challenge.’

 

‘Of course Master. You’ll hear from me as often as possible.’

 

‘Very good. Now be off young one, take care and carry us with you on your way.’

 

I bowed deeply before leaving the room. I exited the citadel to go pack my bags…

I'm still really enjoying your storyline. Where are you currently with your goals? I'm betting that you'll end up finding the squats too easy. ;)

 

glad that you are enjoying it ^^ the squats are probably going to be too easy so i vary with bulgarian split squats and with weights (up to 10kg now)

with my current goals i still have to update it Xd have to chech outwhere my limits are but this is going to be challenging I know XD

Boy I've missed your writing! :)

 

I'm with Nymeria on the squats, 5kg will very quickly feel too easy for you. But good call on the bulgarian split squats.

 

Oh and I meant to ask, how did your exams go?

oh oh good you asked I meant to tell you, i passed. I'm now in 2° Bachelor political sciences ^^ so happy :D

The rain kept pounding through the leaves. Man when will this weather lighten up, I thought to myself. I pushed myself beyond the forest path, willing myself to get home safely. My now loosfitting clothes helped me move more efficiently (eventhough my pants kept sagging) and pushed on beyond the trees and hills. I came to a clearing and looked down into a beautiful valley with deep green trees surrounding a bleu Loc. I decided to set up camp there for the night and got a fire going...

 

Whilst my food was cooking I decided to complete my training for the day and thus looked around for a sturdy tree trunk. Finding one I quickly bent down to start on my training, completing 3 sets of the circuit with 10 reps of each exercise.

- elevated push-up

- squat with 10kg

- push-up

- box-jump

- triceps push-up

- V-sit

- Dips

I sat up, sweating dripping from my brow. I sighed deeply, in peace. I went back to my camp to indulge in my dinner for that day...

Love your circuit, looks fun and challenging. How elevated are your push ups? And how high are your box jumps?

 

thank youu :D i'm so happy, first week is already in motion. push-ups are about 60cm elevated, and box-jumps about more or less a meter (probably less) XD

Nice work! How long did the circuit take?

took about 15-18min (without counting the times my gf interrupted in the circuit XD)

A meter?! Holy crap! Strangely enough, I actually enjoy box jumps. I need to start doing them again.

 

Also, I'm jealous of your V-sits. I don't think I could even get L-sits. I guess that just means I need to work out more. ;)

me too ^^ it's fun and tiring on my ab that's why i enjoy them XD

he, the V-sits are challenging but i love upping the difficulty, i'm sure you'll get there too ;)

I was nearing the end of the forest. It cleared out into a plain and I could see a village at the bottom of the Glen settled around the river bank. Farmers worked their fields as cow grazed nearby. As I walked down to the village, following a beaten sand path, i reminisced about my training yesterday. I was in no mood to run thus I had settled to complete 3 sets of elevated push-ups, squats, push-ups, v-sits, close hand push-ups, mountain-climbers and dips; accomplishing 10 reps of each exercise.

 

Today on the other hand as I walked through the field i felt like running, so I donned my hoodie and sped ahead, running swiftly, zig-zagging between trees, avoiding puddles and sometimes nearly slipping. I stopped at a fallen tree trunk and proceeded to complete 2 sets of 10 elevated push-ups, 10 bulgarian squats to each leg, 10 push-us and 15 box-jumps. I sped on trying to outrun the rain as I ran to the village for shelter and in the hopes of recieving dinner somewhere.

You'd probably love my town.  We have a couple different jogging paths with fitness stations scattered along the way.  So, it would be incredibly easy to run, stop for a set of pull-ups, run more, do crunches, run more, do vaults, etc.  Too bad for me that I don't like running.  ;)

 

I really do love your idea of the fitness/parkour runs, though.  And 1 meter-ish box jumps.  Wow!

I love your writing. Maybe it's the use of italics, but it just makes me feel peaceful and relaxed.

 

I'm also interested in your body-weight workouts, because I think that will be my future exercise path. For I am cheap and gym memberships cost money.

I'm a time traveler, but I can only go one way and only a second at a time.

Good job doing what you wanted and getting your workout in. That's one of the best things about the Rebellion: if you don't want to run, you know better than to force yourself to do it.

i think i would love it indeed :D now i just have to make due with stuff i can find on the way :) but that's the essence of the assassins (zen master). Thanks their much fun too, i don't like monotonous running, i love the chance to adapt as I run :P

I love doing Bw exercises, it's more fun, and i believe that it's the best way to train, the most natural of ways (and ancient) :)
