Attention: By next Saturday San Bernardino will be run over with zombies!!

28-days-later-zombie.jpgesq-walking-dead-walker-zombie-111510-lg

That's right! Pretty soon I'll be running from zombies in the Run for Your Life obstacle course race! So here are some goals to get me to the finish line as a Survivor:

Goal #1: Run at least 3x a week: Obviously since the race is coming up I'll be training more than 3x, but this is for after the race :)

           A: 3-4x a week

               B: 2x a week

               F: 1x a week

Goal #2: Eat Like a Viking: I know I did this last challenge, but I wanted to try again and actually stick to it.

A: 100% Meat and/or veggies with very little breads, pasta and no sugar

                B: 85%

                F: 75%

Goal #3: Every other day complete a hardcore workout such as: Insanity, CrossFit, 5x5, ZWOW, or HIIT.

A: Every other day with 100% intensity!

                B: Missed 1 or 2 days

                F: Missed 3 days in a row

Life Goal: Finish race a Survivor!

         A: 2 life flags

                B: 1 life flag

                F: BRAAAAAAINS!!

My grading may seem harsh but that's because yesterday I went to the recruiters and found out I lost 10 lb,!! Which is awesome but still I need to lose more in order to be allowed to sign up. I'm now focusing on being eligible to be a Poolie next year. And once I graduate I'll be finally on my own and out of my parents house!

Hey Hey!!!

Sub'd... of course.

Also I really like the grading you did for the intensity training. 3 consecutive days missed. That's a really smart decision. Missing is one thing, but missing in a row has a whole other reasoning to it.

Can't wait to see a pic of you at the finish line as a survivor! Do tell.

Cheers,

Teri

Thank you! I've noticed that if I miss a workout three days in a row I lose all my motivation to do them at all. And then it's a battle to get it back again so enough is enough!

Will do! And even if I make it as an Infected I'll still take pics because, I made it and that's worth celebrating.

So just a little update: My twin and her husband have moved into our small home, so now I have to be careful when I change in my own room. It's because my room is connected to the door that leads to the garage otherwise you have to go completely around the house just to get there. And said garage is filled with their stuff so, no more weight machine to workout on :( And my older sister is staying in my room, which is not so bad. I just stay out of her way when she gets in her "feng shui" mode and she lets me get on the computer anytime I want!

Workout: Run 3-miles

I didn't time it because I was testing to see if the roads were clear for me to run on, answer YES! Plus I took my two Great Pyrenees with me and while Gwinny kept up, George didn't want to run after mile number two. So when I run that 3-mile again I'll take my sister's Blue Heeler because she has infinite energy.

Breakfast/Post-Workout: One whole wheat toast with peanut butter, and a bacon cheese omelet, with a glass of milk   Lunch: Green smoothie with cayenne and cinnamon   Dinner: Steamed Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots, and Peas, and grilled steak.

Going to run again tomorrow, this time 1-mile (If George complains again, I'll just drag his ass up those hills!!) Then tomorrow it will be 2 miles, so 1-2-then 3. Since I haven't ran in a while and have a race coming up I'm doing my training this way so I don't wear myself out, and it will build up my stamina faster....or so I hope.

BTW I have stopped doing the Insanity program everyday because my joints were hurting. I think my weight and the intense workouts (which have a LOT of jumping!) are not a good combination. That's why one of my goals is every other day an intense workout.

Night all PEACE!! :victorious:

Smart move with the intensity. Weight or no, excessive joint pounding is very wearing on the body. It doesn't like it at all. Check out tennis knee and long jump knee injuries and chronic pain. So, better to out run the dog and get away from Zombies, I say. But I love running so. However, if you want jump experience, you could do rebound jumps with a basketball and hoop or jump rope or jumping jacks (intensities of these listed in reverse order :playful: ).

Keep trucking and sorry to hear the machine is off limits. Can it be dragged outside with a tarp for weather cover? Or you could arrange their stuff and make an obstacle course!!!!

Cheers and Hugs

This is an update for LostOne... I got an email from her.

Not much is happening, but the reason I haven't posted anything is because I can't remember my password! I relied on my computer remembering for me in order to log on, but now that NF has changed their webpage it doesn't work anymore.

Still getting ready for my race! Had a little splurge with food on my rest day, but otherwise I've been good!Workouts are gold to!

That is the latest.

Update:
Tomorrow I will be leaving with my dad to San Bernardino, where we'll be staying with some friends at the old neighborhood. It'll be nice to see my old house and say hi to some friends.

I'm really excited to meet fellow Nerd gibnic! I'm just glad I'm not running alone.

Will post another update after the race along with a pic. Hopefully I'll be wearing a Survivor T-shirt and medal!!

There's a "forgotten password" link just under he password box when you log in, dude - use that!

Good luck in the race. Are you sure those are zombies? They look like tourists from Hounslow. Either way, they will be dangerous and eat brains so make sure you keep running strong!

Lost One Update:

It was brutal and hard but I came out a survivor! And I got a nice shiny medal and a kickass workout shirt for my effort! I'll post another photo later of gibnic and I, she was awesome and I hope we'll meet up again to race together.(BTW that's my nana in the photo with me).

The zombies were actually very nice, some let us runner pass because we were exhausted. Sprinting from the zombies definitely took a toll on all of us, and there were a LOT of zombies! The finish line was a chain link fence that we had to crawl under, but the catch is one touch and ZAP! I got shocked six time!! It felt great!!

I ended up spending the rest of the weekend resting. But now my family has the racing bug! My dad had so much fun just watching me compete he's been asking if I'll go for another one. I'm actually leaning towards the Marine Corps 10k mud run, which is supposed to be next summer, so time for training.

Challenge is going strong, I did splurge on food though after the race but I'm back on track now. Gotta lose them pounds so I can sign up for the Marines! The recruiter said I just needed to lose 53 more pounds and I'll be eligible to sign up. Add the fact that my twin is also trying to lose weight and I am really motivated to stay on track. I'll be damned if my twin loses more weight than I do!

After finishing my first race I have to say, I'm hooked. I want to do as many races as I can before I am bused to boot camp. Dad wants to frame my race number and hang up my medals. He's just proud that I "won" in a sense, and I got rewarded for my hard work.

I've been trying to figure out why I haven't received any e-mails from Nerd Fitness so I can get a new password. I can say though, it's not my e-mail account that's the problem. For some reason NF isn't sending me anything. I've tried to get a new password but nothing gets sent! Anyone know how to fix this? If nothing changes by November I'll just make a new profile, which would suck because I love my username and I would lose all my status and friends. But I can't keep using BruteSquad to post updates forever, which by the way dude is so nice of you! Thank you very much!

Hey Lost,

I'm back. I don't have a thread for this challenge because I am still getting used to my new schedule after the move. I plan to come back in on the next challenge, however. So glad to see that you are still rocking out.

Congrats on surviving. It does make you feel really good, doesn't it? I must say that the Warrior Dash got me hooked too, and I am totally going to do it again. Keep up the good work.

Update:
To 18ck: Yes I've checked my spam, I get all my e-mails in one shot spam and all. And nothing! I've tried everything to fix the problem and so I've far I've deduced that it's not me. For some reason I am not getting the new password e-mail. At the NF help page it says to contact an administrator, but how can I do that if I can't log on?

My sister is joining me in losing weight! I actually got her to on a walk with me, she had to stop a few times but ultimately walked all the way home without asking me to pick her up in the golf cart (like my mom). I was so proud of her, and tomorrow we'll be doing yoga!

Breakfast: Peanut Butter on wheat toast, and strawberry and spinach smoothie
Lunch: 4 Turkey rolls, and romaine salad
Dinner: Noodle, egg, salad (my sis made it I don't know what it's called, but it was delicious!), scoop of mashed potatoes, and Roast beef

Workout: 1/2-mile walk with sis
Interval training: Burpees:
5, 5, 5, 5  Hanging Leg Raise: 10, 12, 16, 12

Update:

Well today wasn't that great. My arabian horse Sabba had to be put down :-( . I think my mom is worried because I haven't been crying or seem traumatized (she was put down the old fashioned way, to poor to afford the vet to drive the whole 2 hours to our house). But I had already accepted she would need to be put down a while ago after all, every morning I had to physically help her get up and it just got to the point where she couldn't do it anymore.

I've kind of slacked off in my goals lately, due to family visiting and dealing with a cold (which lasted one day! The trick is NOT to take cold medicine). But I'm ready to get back to it! After all, I have another race to get ready for. Both gibnic and I have the racing bug! And we're going to do a Spartan race January! And then my older sister wants to run in the Run For Your Lives race on March. And finally, I want to run in the Marine Corps 10k mud run sometime in the summer.

From what I've seen of the Spartan race, even the Sprint is brutal. Can't wait!! Hey BruteSquad you've ran a Spartan race before, how should I go about preparing? I'll be doing the Spartan WOD for starters, but is there anything else I should do?

For the Spartan race.....if you are doing the WOD then you are on the right track.  For where I ran, plan on the sprint being about 5 miles, and all up and down steep hills.  So any vertical running is good when you run during the WOD.

LostOne, I started a Help ticket for you from within my own account. BruteSquad, I suggested they contact you for checking her current email address. Hope that will shake something loose and get you back to normal.

And hey! You're one happy looking survivor! Brava! And congrats on getting even more of your family motivated and inspired! I know how much that can mean!

Very sorry about your horse. Remember that you did a lot to make her last years good for her.

Rock On Survivor!! WOOT.

Hope you keep the challenge run bug. I want to do a 5K next summer and a Mud'er the year after. Yeah for you Girl. Kick it!!

Both gibnic and I have run bug! Maybe on of these days I'll try out a Tough Mudder, it looks cool! My ultimate goal is start and finish the Death Race, the most brutal race ever created! Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rtMFKpOYqo

Hi LostOne.  Glad you survived the Zombies!  So you want to be a Marine.  That's awesome.  My husband is a former Marine and I was in the Army.  Good luck with your preparation!

Thanks Melyssa it's very nice to meet you btw!

From what I saw on the previous races at the same track in Temecula, there will be a LOT of hills! And thankfully I live in an area that also has a lot of hills, so I just have to suck it up and run my ass off!

LostOne, I started a Help ticket for you from within my own account. BruteSquad, I suggested they contact you for checking her current email address. Hope that will shake something loose and get you back to normal.

Thank you very much Athena, it did shake it up! I got an e-mail from bigm 141414 and he gave me my new password!

Goal #1: A : So far so good, it's been mainly sprints on my make shift track but I'm still running around 800 meters up to 4x a week. I'll be doing distant runs this week though.

Goal #2: F : Last week wasn't good but this week and the next should be better. It wasn't sugar I overate, it was bread. When picking up groceries my mom failed to get more veggies, so I was stuck with nothing but meat and bread to eat. I actually missed eating veggies! But now I have a lot of salad stuff, so I'm good now :D

Goal #3: B : I missed a couple because my twin found out I am good at getting the baby to stop crying. So guess who gets to hold the little munchkin when he won't stop bawling?! I keep telling her all I do is walk around the property, bouncing him. He just wants to go outside!

Life Goal: B : WOOT! I made it with one life flag in hand! I would have finished with two but a sneaky prisoner zombie got it.

Hooray! You're back! The earth is back on its axis!

Looks like if you can get that darn eating back on track your challenge will be going well again, too! Brava!
