First timer - need to lose 80 lbs - working on getting my NASM CPT

I don't know what to write... this is my first time doing a challenge here. I just finished a Dietbet and actually won money, so I am just trying to stay on track.  I am on day 16 of the Whole30, so I am already basically eating Paleo. I started out at 219 and today I am at 204. I am also hypothyroid, and finally convinced my doctor to put me on T3 (Cytomel), so that is helping my metabolism! Yay!! :)

 

STATS:

Female

Start Weight (this was a couple months ago): 219

Current Weight: 204

Goal Weight: 125-135

Height: 5'2"

Jeans size: 16 (Jordache jeans with 1% Spandex)

Diet: Whole30/Paleo

 

 

MAIN QUEST

  1. To hit my goal range of 125-135
  2. Goals (diet and fitness related) that will help me achieve Main Quest:

            1. Continue eating clean - even after the Whole30 is finished, and continue logging my food and exercise to stay accountable.

Grading
A: Log every day
B: Miss 1-2 days during challenge
C: Miss 3-5 days during challenge
D: Miss 1-2 weeks during challenge
F: Miss more than 2 weeks during challenge
 

            2. Lose at least 5% of my body weight. (204 * 5% = 10.2 lbs = 193.8)

            3. Complete the 4 week Boot Camp Workout, do this 3x a week, and either walk, jog, or play Just Dance for at least 30 minutes 3x a week.

I'm a slave to the scale. Honestly, I don't get discouraged when I gain, but it helps me to remember to look at my food logs a little closer, especially since I can't have any gluten. Sometimes it will sneak in! lol 

I also plan to measure.

I am going to have to start working out in the morning again, because I always seem to be way too busy in the evening. I spent the last 2 nights editing photos. (I am a photographer.) I was up til after midnight both nights. Not good! We have the homecoming game tonight and 2 photo shoots tomorrow. I am still on track with my eating, I weighed in at 203.8 this morning!:)

Just wanted to offer some encouragment. I also am hypothyroid with approx 80lbs to lose. I was a first timer not so long ago and honestly well done on finding NF and joining the challenge. Its awesome here! :')

 

I want to be the best version of me too, and thats great motivation. Sooo glad you're thyroid is getting sorted. Brain fog, mood swings, feeling constanstly cold (amongst other things) is horrible!

 

Your goals sound good. Woohoo for the whole30, half way there! 

Look forward to seeing your progress :)

Thanks! I figured if I didn't post pictures then I couldn't be as accountable. It's frustrating to be this big... I was 110 lbs in high school, so I doubled my weight over the last 20 years. Well... it's time to take control of my life and my body and my mind! :)

I had coworkers ask me today what I am doing to lose weight! :) It felt good!! 

Going to start working out tonight with my 13 year old! So glad he wants to work out with me! :)

Hmmm... I've had a really rough couple of days. Went to a concert on Friday and we couldn't bring in our own good so I was stuck with the concession stand. I had an Italian sausage and a few fries. Not TOO bad but then we went to IHOP after and I got a grilled chicken omelet, which was ok except it had cheese on it. Then yesterday went completely downhill! A few more French fries and 4 kalua mudslides (the little bottles) and a hard cider. Talk about a ton of liquid calories. Oh well, it happens and today is a new day!

Tomorrow I start the 4 week boot camp with my pastor. It should be fun except the whole getting up at 5:30 in the morning! Ouch!

It's hard to make good choices when you're out.  It sounds like you were at least making an effort.  Great attitude -  we can't change the past but we can be better today (and moving forward!)

Today is the first REAL day of my 4 week boot camp! I got up at 5:30 and was at my pastor's house at 6:00 am ready to go! And we did it! :)

I have a question about Wednesday's workout. We do not have access to a bar to do the body weight row, as we are in the basement of my pastor's house and there really isn't much down there. So, here are my options:

 

A. Find an exercise that will work the same muscles (we do have dumbbells available)

B. Wait until our walk in the afternoon and use the bars at the park where we walk.

 

I wouldn't mind doing a combination of both, because when the weather starts getting sketchy, we might not be able to walk outdoors. 

 

So, what exercise would do the same thing?

A combination of both A and B would be the best because the alternatives for a body weight row isn't quite the same.  I'd suggest a bent over dumbbell row:

-keep the knees soft (ie don't lock out)

-tip from the hip, keeping your spine neutral (small curve in the low back, watch your neck position - eyes should point to the ground, not cranking your neck to look up)

- pull the shoulder blades back and together.

 

-the woman in this picture had gone fairly deep into her dead lift (the bent over part)  If you don't have that level of flexibility yet (if it pulls too much in the back of your legs), you do not have to go that far down.

I forgot to bring my eggs to work today, so I am starving!! I also can't seem to eat all my calories for some reason... I am up 3 lbs from my debauchery over the weekend... I think I might not be eating enough. I am trying to hit 1700 calories a day, but it rarely happens (well, except for Saturday lol).

I think I am pulling myself in 2 different directions. I am doing this DietBet, wherein I have to lose 4% of my body weight in 4 weeks. But I am also doing the 4 week basic training, wherein I hope to gain muscle while losing fat. I am afraid I will not make my 4% goal, and maybe this isn't even a goal I should have while trying to build muscle?? i am so confused! LOL
