Chanda
This set of mini-quests is inspired by the cult classic Pulp Fiction. This movie divides people. Some people love it, others find it offensive due to its violence, explicit themes and coarse language. Whatever you think of the movie, we Druids like to find the best in anything. And that is exactly what we are going to do over the next 3.5weeks. There will be 5 short mini-quests and 1 three week long mini-quest. If you are a Druid that completes all 5 mini-quests, you can allocate yourself 1 attribute point (your choice of which attribute gets it). Details for the 3 week long mini-quest will be posted separately on the 1st of October. The Wolf: You guys look like... What do they look like, Jimmie?Jimmie: Dorks. They look like a couple of dorks.Jules: Ha-ha-ha. They're your clothes. Short movie clip... to be watched only if you are not offended by blood and explicit language. Mini-Quest 1: THE LOOK (running from 25.Sep to 30.Sep): As we progress on our journey to be fit nerds our body and posture changes. Take a good look at what you wear. Do your clothes fit you well? Are they doing you justice? Are your clothes too loose now? Too tight? No longer your style? Are there holes in your under-garnements? This is not about following the latest fashion trends (you can if that is what makes you happy), it is about figuring out what you need to do so that your wardrobe matches your newly found and ever growing confidence. This may be as simple as getting new socks, ironing your t-shirts or adding a belt to your wardrobe and as big as replacing all your now too large t-shirts and pants one by one. The goal is to evaluate the current status and take that first small step to make things better! You deserve to do this for yourself! peggysr
Nice timing on this. I'm in the process of losing a significant amount of weight, and over the last couple of weeks, I've noticed that most of my wardrobe is designed for, ahem, expandability. I have bought some workout clothes, and they're much more form-fitting than most of my wardrobe. The first time I participated in a 5K, I felt very self conscious about the snug tank top and capris, but I've gotten over that. I'm okay with snug workout clothes, even in public. I'm not ready to replace my whole wardrobe--that can wait till I reach my goal weight. In the meantime, I'll be working on rocking the few snug outfits I have. There have been a lot of occasions I've put on an outfit and thought, "I'll replace this next summer." fauve
Agree....nice timing. I really need to go through my wardrobe and see what fits properly and what doesn't.I'll put cleaning out my closets on the list for this weekend. Thilde
This is great, and like the others have said, awesome timing. my wardrobe has spontaneously kicked the bucket...like, every piece at once decided to say "Oh for heaven's sake" and manifest holes, rips, stains, etc. I am going to Goodwill soon and I have told myself that I'm buying "real clothes" instead of jeans, tshirts, and sweatshirts. Like, other types of pants, maybe a skirt or two, some nice sweaters, etc. I work from home and it is really easy to get stuck in the habit of just wearing pajamas or dorm pants and a sweatshirt all day every day. So I am excited to start checking out some different "looks" and see what my style actually is! Link to comment
Eirlys
Does it count if I did this very thing last weekend? Following on from summer where I'd cleared out my wardrobe, I decided I'd also like an autumn (fall) where selecting what clothes to wear every day is a pleasure! So I bought 5 new dresses in a sale on Saturday, all of which are at least an 8/10 on my scale of looking good & actually feeling nice to touch & wear (down with winter dresses that are scratchy & uncomfortable!) Nazy_Ak
I'm in the same boat with Eirlys. I also did this, this very week. Alot of my clothes are loose now so I bought a belt and a few new items of clothing so I'm not constantly pulling my pants up or walking around with baggy dresses/jerseys. Lol. As I cant afford to update my wardrobe completely, and well I plan to lose more I'm trying to wear stuff that fits ok with a little alteration here or there.I guess if the belt and new clothes doesnt count as it was before this was posted, then I can do the alteration thing for the mini quest as I had planned to do that this weekend anyway 'The only Limits you have, are the ones You set for yourself'1 2 Link to comment
Leithient
This mini-challenge is easy: my wardrobe is awful. One good looking socks and it could improve (really). It's Friday, so I don't have much time, but I'm going to try to buy a shirt, at least one shirt that sizes me until I lose the weight I gain the last year. peggysr
Just realized I bought two new purses on Tuesday. That may not sound like much, but my entire family (or at least the females) tease me mercilessly because I buy ONE purse every five or ten years to replace the last one purse that's just worn out. I'm enjoying my new backpack purse that holds lunch and a water bottle too. justoneanna
I really REALLY need a new belt - I'm in between sizes right now, and still hoping I'm only halfway done losing weight (20lbs down, 15 to go), so I'm not going to buy a ton of new stuff, but my dress belt is just awful right now. Plus I had to poke a new notch in it, because it was that much too big. Time to go shopping! With a new belt, and maybe some minor alterations to things I have only recently shrunk out of, I think I can give my wardrobe a nice refresher for not too much money! I am Eve
Sounds like you have a good plan there justoneanna! Well, after packing yesterday it seems I'm all about skinny jeans at the moment. I have decided that I'm not going to be anxious about being too old And I brought one of my hats with me, the good thing about traveling by train, I love hats but it's such a struggle on planes! MadScientist
Great timing for me, too. I just went through my closet and pulled out all my old clothes and donated them to the Salvation Army. Then it was off to the store to replace them. My wife is an avid second-hand store shopper, so we hit a few of those and found everything I needed at ridiculously low prices. Many years ago, I read "Dress for Success." It made a lasting impression on me. I have found that if I dress for a role, it mentally prepares me for it. I also found that the key to being comfortable in all types of clothes is finding clothes that fit. When I lived in Silicon Valley many years ago, I found small mom and pop clothing store that offered standard brands at normal retail price, not discounts, but included free tailoring for the life of the garment. C Partan, if you are still out there, I hope you are doing well. I found that clothes that fit are clothes you can wear comfortably all day. Picking the right materials doesn't hurt, either. Since most of us are changing to a better shape, we need to get clothes more often. I certainly hope to be changing my wardrobe in a few weeks . Spider
This summer, I did a bunch of "golden-rule"-ing to my closet. Then when I was visiting a friend, we did massive shopping that netted new pants, skirts, bras, and lunch boxes. Don't laugh at that last part! I found salad containers that actually work well, and now take salads at least four days out of five to work! DoubleOrNothing
This is an interesting quest for me, as my problem is not parring down my wardrobe to things that fit me (both physically and style wise), but to actually ADD to my wardrobe. Eirlys
Did more wardrobe editing today - it's surprising to try on clothes you think you don't like, and then you remember why you got them in the first place! And also I feel good about saying "I never really liked this thing - bam, gone!" I now have another bag of stuff for either charity or ebay. Yay! Unikarm
Hello wonderful druids my clothes are awful. all i wear is my work uniforn then i come home and get into the most baggy comfy clothes ever. i don't get out much so this is pretty much what i wear everyday. and when i do get dressed, my clothes are all in a pile on the floor (yes they are clean) and they are most likely wrinkley and i i'm just a mess. i have trick to get the wrinkles out though. i put them in the dryer with a wet wash cloth (not a giant towel) and it gets the wrinkles out i need to do this more and also actually fold the clothes and put them away. justoneanna
New belt successfully obtained! clothing alterations not so much. I'm not sure when I am going to have time to unpick these seams and redo them! For pants I got on sale for $15, I dunno if it's worth it! I still need to go through my shirts and see what is worth saving. I know I have several sweaters that are so much too big they fall off my shoulders! DrDidg
HA, without seeing this and within the last 2 weeks I have donated 5 bags of old clothing and winter jackets to charity. 2 full trash bags of swanky graphic tees and 2 bags of winter coats. I have not even got to the shorts and pants yet, but tossing most of the big jeans that I could swim in these days. The irony that I donated all this and this morning the closet bar where everything hangs decides to give way. The sport coats even have to go which is rather sad as my favorite Calvin Klein olive sport coat is just huge on me now. 200-Hour Yoga Teacher & Reiki II Practitioner Level 2 Gnome Druid STR: 9 | DEX: 5 | STA: 5 | CON: 5 | WIS: 2 | CHA: 4Challenge Progress || Workout Progress || FitBit The problem with life is that there is no background music Link to comment
