Alternative to jumping rope?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, could anyone suggest alternatives to jumping rope? There is one min of jumping rope in a workout plan I'm trying but I live in a flat (slightly creaky floors) and will be working out early in the morning. I don't want to wake up my partner or anger the people below!

jogging in place can probably be done quieter than jumping. Mountain climbers are good too, not sure how noisy they would be. Or just high knees-marching in place with lifting your knees up high and swinging your arms

I hate jumping rope. I do high-knees (like jogging in place but knees up as high as I can get them) or mountain climbers instead - I find I land a lot more softly on one foot at a time than both at once. If you have a hard-surface floor, you could put down a yoga mat or foam mat (like the puzzle piece ones) and high-knees would be pretty quiet. Jumping jacks would work too, but that has the two-foot-landing thump factor for me.
