CourtnieMarie
I'm mega jealous. Was it awesome? Also, if you don't mind me asking, how do you make your stirfrys? Just heat oil and throw everything in until its cooked? I think I want to try that this week. Elton is amazing live. Even if you're not a huge fan but you appreciate music in any way this show will rock your socks off. I've been lucky enough to have seen him twice now and it was an amazing experience both times. not enough words! yeah! stir frys! it will take a lot of trial and error so don't be upset if you over or under cook an ingredient on the first couple tries. my experience has told me to put peppers in the pan before onions because they take longer. i've never had a problem putting meat in at the same time as veggies (but you're not supposed to). also, this way, i can use the grease from the meat to cook the veggies and not need oil. if it's a lean meat then i'll use some butter, coconut oil, pam spray, leftover bacon grease, you decide! i almost always use minced garlic from the jar and a fresh onion or two. then i'll add whatever veggies i have on hand (frozen or fresh) and spices. if i use frozen veggies i'll microwave them and drain out the water first or else they create too much water in the stir fry pan. Steve goes through a better step by step here but if you have any other specific questions don't hesitate to ask. i love talking about food. CourtnieMarie
I'm very surprised that you would mention a bacon/tomato dip and tell us it's delicious, but not post the recipe... You should know better.... I kid, but seriously, fork over the recipe! ha! you're right, sorry. I used canned whole peeled tomatoes, greek yogurt instead of sour cream, and no added salt is necessary!http://www.thegalleygourmet.net/2012/08/bacon-and-tomato-dip-with-black-pepper.html if you do greek yogurt just make sure you get a brand that is really thick. i've found that store brands are actually good for this. CourtnieMarie
Still doing DB workouts three times a week. Working in some ankle and shoulder mobility/stretching to the routine. The SO has started getting up to workout with me which is great but totally messing up my routine! I'll get used to it though I've had a terrible past 10ish days food-wise. Girl scout cookies, restaurants, chocolates, homemade cookies, ice cream, dishes with 100grams of fat, and sugary goodness. just not anything remotely good for me. It's been giving me morning headaches as well. And I've been hitting the cigs more and more. I definitely need to re-focus and keep my ideal body comp. in mind as I try to move back to normal food. I'm also trying not to buy cigs this week either. I'll be updating on here sporadically for the next few weeks until I can get my head back on straight. CourtnieMarie
Welcome to my nonsense that I call a “battle log!†Might as well tell y’all about my workout on Monday – since that’s what this thing is for right? I did what I call active recovery on Saturday which was just some treadmill, stretching, mobility, etc. I don't know if that's really active recovery but it sounds better than: I went to the gym to stretch. 3/3/14 Workout Goblets:3x5x50# Split squats: rear leg raised on bench3x11x15# Swiss ball crunch: with 10# DB overhead3x11 Ankle stretching, regular stretching, Shoulder halos with 15# DB*** Also, I had 3 cigarettes over Sat/Sun. None last Mon-Fri and I didn’t have one yesterday. Then plan is to stay clean again this week (Mon-Fri) and be allowed some this weekend. We’re going to a sledding party up in VT, that plus a 4-hr drive one way? Yeah, I’m gunna need some sanity. Anyway, I’ve never gone through a whole work week without a cig since I started this habit so there is progress! 1 Quote Instagram | pinterest read harder challenge | Battle Log | NROLFW Challenges: 13-1 | 13-2 | 13-3 | 13-3.5 | 14-1 | 14-2 | 15-1 | 15-2 | 15-3 | 15-4 | 15-5 | 16-1 | 16-2 | 16-3 | 16-4 | 16-5 | 16-6 | 16-7 | 16-8 | 17-1 | 17-2 | 17-3 | 17-4 | 17-5 | 17-6 | 17-7 | 17-8 | 17-9 | 17-10 | 18-1 | 18-2 | 18-3 | 18-4 | 18-5 | 18-6 | 18-7 | 18-8 | 18-9 | 18-10 | 19-1 | 19-2 | 19-3 | 19-4 | 19-5 | 19-6 | 19-7 | current Link to comment
Strawberry Squatcake
Yay! PROGRESS is good! Cigarettes are hard to quit. I have three friends battling the habit right now and it's maddening for them. So Mon-Fri without is fantastic. Well done! Also, I did a lot of mobility and stretching on Saturday because I was trapped in my house. I don't think I'd judge if you did go to the gym just for stretching. CourtnieMarie
CM, how you doin' girl??Thanks for checking in, MoC! Whoops! I totally fell off the earth this month. I think I'm going to have to mark all my subs as read and not really read them. that's sad I've been doing well though! My waist measurements are all over the place, no idea why but I keep measuring. Eating well - still logging on MFP. Been actually having to find some good fatty foods by the end of the day which typically never happens. Using my new digital scale a ton! Working out 3 days a week still. shoulder is still bothering me so I'm taking those days slow and rehabing as much as possible. Still getting DOMS with this modified 5-3-1 program Cigarettes are doing well too! I had 3 this past weekend and none during the week. I bought this pack on 3/22 and have 11 left in it I think (the SO holds on to it for me as a buffer). Not too shabby. I still love them though. I'd really like to be able to do what I'm doing now but actually have the self control to hold on to the pack myself lol we'll see. I've been having rehearsals for the vagina monologues which has been keeping me busy - that goes up 4/19. i'm excited to be doing the part I have but the show is such a mess right now. and I refuse to take a bigger role in it than what I originally signed up for. Other than that, trying to get some wedding shower invites out for my friend this week and get bacherlorette party favors put together by 5/2. Annnnnd what else? I bought a LOT of pork yesterday. that was fun! The deals were good and I figure I can just throw that 5 pounder in the crockpot (like I do) since it's boneless. Also, the frozen vegetables were on sale but you had to buy 10 so my freezer is reaaaalllllyyyy full. Trying out frozen turnips and turnip greens with my bbq pork today (unrelated to the new pork I just bought - i mean is pork delicious or what?!) CourtnieMarie
I downloaded this app called multi-year to log my workouts in. I haven’t decided if I like it yet. Before that I was just jotting each workout into the notes app. I liked that because it gave me the freedom to note my distance on the treadmill warm-up and what I did for shoulder rehab, etc. But it was obviously clunky and hard to navigate through old workouts. I thought I’d “level-up†so to speak. Although I inputted my baseline weights and my most recent workout I couldn’t remember if I have put in the weight of each DB or the combined weight. And it was de-load week so it really could have been either. I couldn’t figure out how to go back into that original screen where it asked about my baseline lifting. Urg. Hopefully I’ll figure it out. I ate some delicious things this weekend but it included three meals out at restaurants or a grocery store. I was visiting my sister up in NH and stopped for lunch at a grocery store on the way up. The SO and I got salads and a package of chicken salad to share. Who knew that chicken salad would end up having 58 grams of fat. I had even forgone the dressing to save myself some fat there but what was the point?! Man, I don’t understand that necessity. Even if I tried really hard, I don’t think I could make a dish with that much fat in it. Oh well, it was delicious. And obviously reaaaaaallllyyy filling. So I didn’t need to eat again until dinner which were delicious chicken enchiladas at this Mexican place in NH. So good. So was the margarita I went for a quick “run†with the SO yesterday! It was so nice out here and we were planning to go to the gym anyway but I said I was going to do my warmup jog outside and she wanted to as well. It was a little more tricky that she anticipated having not been working out consistently as long as I have. We went 1.06 miles in 12.8 mins. That was enlightening for both of us I think. We signed up for a 5K/obstacle race in June so it was good to get a baseline going for progress on that. Then I went ot the gym and did a deload press session. My shoulder did not bother me! Also rolled my calves for the first time in a looooong time yesterday. I am sooo full right now. I made a chicken salsa crock pot meal that ended up being FIFTEEN servings (13.6 ounces each serving)! Man. 15 servings?? I think I outdid myself there. chicken thighs, red peppers, and fresh cut mango salsa were on sale so yep. Added a can of black beans and an onion. Super easy. Macros for that ended up at 395 cals and 13/4/30 C/F/P. I also add a half serving of white rice and some creole seasoning to that. So good.
