This is now my third challenge. I joined in the last 3 weeks of my first, actually did the last 6 weeks and so I am finally joining the Rangers!

 

Half way through my last challenge I moved back to uni, which was a huge knock to my challenge prospects, and I only just managed to succeed. This time, I'm ready for an overhaul.

 

I've put half a stone on in the last 2 weeks, and that is pure fat. I need to completely redesign my outlook, re-look at my diet and take my fitness up a notch.

 

My goal is for these six weeks: Be able to do 20 proper press-ups by Christmas.

 

This is different to the last 2 challenges which were weight loss goals. My idea behind this quest is that by the time I can do this it means that I'm stronger and hopefully fitter. To reach my goal:

 

  • Do press-ups every day (STR & CON)- I'm planning on doing at least 10 elavated press-ups against the kitchen counter every day. I'm also going to be going to the gym 3 times a week and will be working my way up to doing them on my feet, not my knees
  • Replace 3 meals a week with home made smoothies (WIS) - In January I started having smoothies and I noticed such a difference in the way I feel. I had more energy and I just felt better. I'm hoping to get back into the swing of smoothie drinking
  • 3 days a week; walk to uni or do a zombie run & stretch for 10 minutes (DEX & STA) - I'm a lazy bitch basically, and two days I drive to uni, but I'm going to try to walk 3 out of 5 days. 

Life quest:

  • Write 1000 words every day (either novel or dissertation or PBL coursework) (WIS & CHA)

In my mindset now I'm really excited and feel like I can do this. But I have a feeling that as the weather gets colder it's going to get harder. Plus I've lost my gym buddy to a full time job plus university (I don't know how she does it). Cross fingers, everything will be fine :D

Great goals! You might find that it is tough as it gets colder but I'm sure that you can manage. I'm rooting for you!

 

Thank you!! Yeah the cold weather is just unpleasant, makes me not want to leave the house, lucky for me I have a pilates mat and kettlebells in my room :D

So I made a thing. It's a spreadsheet - cause everything is better with a spreadsheet, got it?

 

There are 2 sheets to it. The first it where I'm going to be recording my workouts and how I'm doing with my goals. I added in squat weight, but with no squat racks at the gym, don't expect to see that go very high, however I am hoping to up it somewhat.

 

The second sheet is where I'll be recording all my meals and what I'm eating every day.

 

I'm hoping that by having this up and able to be seen by....everyone, I'll do stick to my guns a bit more...maybe xD

Hi, I have a suggestion that could help you with your Push Up goal:

 

-Do them "every" hour like 5 times a day, with at least one hour break between, this would mabye end up like 7*5*7*6 =1470 (press-ups* sets a day * Days in a week* Weeks)  you could add more reps. if it's got too easy!

 

Compared to 10*7*6=420 it's much more!

This is a really good idea!! I probably can't do them so much every day, but I'm pretty sure I can manage it most days.

That is a very good idea! The only way to get better at push-ups is.... MORE PUSH-UPS!

Luckily my gym buddy has today off woot!

Hmmm...my writing style changes tbh, my novel for nano is something I'm trying to write in first person...it's hard. But this is something I've just started working on; as yet untitled:

 

It’s yet another morning waking in the bleak dawn light in a tangle of sheets, shivering in the cold. Alice screams when her cat, Oscar, jumps onto the bed, thinking it’s finally time for him to sleep, now that his mistress has stopped squirming. But she kicks him out with a grunt of annoyance, as she swings her legs down to the cold laminated floor. Padding slowly, Oscar winding his way between her legs, she crosses the hall and enters her bathroom, squinting in the glare of the overhead spot lights. Her hair is a mess of red curls that she can’t run her fingers through, so with a snarl she puts it into a knot at the top of her head. Dark purple circles have taken up permanent residence under her eyes, and her skin has taken on a sickly sallow hue. If asked, she would have said she looked like someone dying. First morning of the challenge!! Yaaaay :D

 

I first woke up at 6:30am when Rob had to leave, then I did 5 press ups against the side in the bathroom before going back to sleep at 7am :). Then I woke up away at 9:30am (25 minutes ago lol).

 

I did another 10 press ups against the kitchen side while I waited for my breakfast to cook. Breakfast was porridge made with water with frozen raspberries, peaches and honey :) yummy!!

 

At 11:30 I'm heading to the gym with my gym buddy (she has the day off - yay) then it's time for uni at 1-5 and somehow I have to get to work for 5:30...which is 45 minutes away xD.

Mmmm the great start fell down some.

 

I went to the gym! However, issues with a fermented smoothie exploding in my kitchen meant I only had 30 minutes there, so I didn't get a zombie run done (still went to the gym though!)

Then the plan to just have a smoothie fell over too because after my clinically check seminar I was starving so had a jerk grilled chicken breast with brown rice from the uni cafe. Not bad mind, but not what I had planned.

 

I'm now sat in the library and I'm going to try and get some of this story written :D

I completely forgot to wear my pedometer yesterday and today I know why! Just found it in a pair of jeans on a radiator xD. I wish this was the first time something like this had happened, but it once fell off outside, I didn't realise and it spent 3 days out in the rain lol.

 

I also didn't put down my workout for yesterday, so here it is:

  • 10 squats w/ 10kg dumbbells @ shoulders
  • 10 (each side) one armed shoulder press w/ 5kg dumbbell
  • 20 Russian twists with 5kg medicine ball
  • 10 leg outs arms behind
  • 10 leg outs arms front like a genie
  • 10 leg outs arms raising 5kg medicine ball
  • 10 rows palms forward elbows tucked
  • 10 rows palms in elbows wide
  • 10 each side - squat w/ 5kg medicine ball touch left foot, push up medicine ball above opposite shoulder.
  • 10 calf raises toes out
  • 10 calf raises toes forward
  • 10 calf raises toes in 
  • 10 minute cycle - 8km

This morning I'm back home as I was at work last night. I'm going to have some cereal for my brekkie, then I'm at the dentist (booo!) then off into town shopping and out for lunch with my mum :) Then back to uni *sigh*

Today was a pretty decent day. I managed to avoid the chips and the KFCs and the pizzas and had homemade ratatouille for my tea with a few large pasta shells :)

Off to the gym first thing in the morning, AND walking into uni - go me!

Ugh, was startled awake this morning by one of the little plastic hooks on my door falling off and dropping my bags and jacket to the floor. Crapped myself!!

 

Anyway, just had my breakfast - cereal clusters with greek yogurt and red grapes, strawberries and a sliced apple. Off to uni this morning, going to the gym and then to the library, then I've got a class 12-2pm then back home to hopefully do more work while my hair dyes :D

 

If I can get myself moving in time I'll be making a smoothie to take for my lunch :) and I'm having slow cooked indian chicken for my tea...though I have yet to get it in the slow cooker xD

Okay! Workout this morning:

  • 20 step ups w/ 2x12kg dumbbells
  • 10 x squats w/ 10kg dumbbells
  • 2 sets of 10 lunges each leg, one with front leg on box, one with back leg on box, holding 5kg dumbbells
  • 10 x low rows palsm in w/ 5kg DB
  • 10 x low rows palms out elbows wide w/ 5kg DB
  • 20 single arm shoulder press w/ 5kg DB
  • 3 sets of 10 leg outs; arms behind, arms in front and arms raising 5kg med ball above head
  • 10 x push ups on knees
  • Season 2 Mission 7 of Zombies, Run! 2.6km

I'm just had a jelly as a snack, and I have a banana, raspberry smoothie with me to drink before and after my seminar at 12 - 2pm, and right now I'm in the library, hopefully getting my research interview written :D

I wrote my research interviews :D yaaay!

 

I've got curried chicken in the slow cooker for my tea (2 chicken thighs, tin of tomatoes, quartered onion and garam marsala), going to have it with couscous :) At the moment my hair is henna-ing (so excited to see it omg!) and I'm getting some of my lectures written up.

 

So far this challenge is going pretty well :)
