I know; sometimes I get weird food aversions, where I don't want to eat any of the things I normally eat, so I just eat eggs until it goes away. I don't know why I'm like that, but I've tried to fight back a little.

I love that you provided illustrations!

I'm actually a research assistant, which means I'm working with a professor to provide support for an upcoming article. I was never an RA (at my undergrad we called them RCAs), but I imagine that would be nuts to try to balance.

I'm in law school, and I'm assisting on a paper about education reform. There are four RAs (myself included), which is nice because we can kind of spread the work around. When I was an RA this summer I was the only one, which was a little scary.

7 November

Food

-eggs, 1/2 avocado, tomato, 3 slices of bacon, 1/2 sweet potato with ghee

-picked apart a sandwich and ate turkey slices, lettuce, tomato, cranberry chutney and accidentally a slice of muenster

-1/2 packet of prosciutto, baked

-salad: spinach, chicken, mushrooms, apples, mandarin oranges, alfalfa sprouts, balsamic vinegar

Probably not enough food again - I was running around. Need to do a cookup over the weekend. Also thinking of making some quick mayo to incentivize myself to eat the chicken I made Wednesday.

9 November 2013

Today I judged a CrossFit masters competition. It was so incredible and inspiring watching people twice my age throwing down and giving truly impressive performances for people of any age. It was so lovely to see my CrossFit family. The whole day made me want to get serious about healing my foot so I can get back to training for real.

Food

breakfast: sweet potato, egg

cashew nut Larabar

lunch: courtesy of Kettlebell Kitchen: sausage, eggs, spinach, grass-fed pumpkin chili, sweet potato mash — YUM

plantain chips

dinner: pan-fried garlic sardines, avocado, tomato, sauteed green beans and onions, bell peppers

dessert: frozen blueberries in coconut milk

Fitness

Does six hours of standing and yelling count?

Foot

Probably did some harm by standing for so long. Wore my inserts, took Advil and am filling the bathtub to soak before bed.

Life

Not very productive but that was expected going into the day.

PLAN FOR TOMORROW:

I want to wake up at 7:30 or so in order to make breakfast in a leisurely way and still have ample time to be productive.

I have to do my Law Review assignment.

I have to do all my admin reading for the week.

I have to e-mail my TA class about rescheduling one session.

And I have to write a training program and select my classes.

Spousal unit loves judging crossfit!!! That's so awesome you did it.

I AM going the distance

'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood.

I remember you! Good to see you here!

And yes, I find it hilarious that you're that over-committed. Keep it up! :D

You BETTER remember me :)

I just took some fermented cod liver oil. Trust me, fish oil has nothing on this. ;)

I take this...if you're willing to try it, only buy the cinnamon tingle: http://www.greenpasture.org/public/Products/CodLiverOil/

What is the benefit of this stuff over other fish oil?

Lots of info via Chris Kresser.

Summary:

  - Cheap fish oil may do more harm than good.  You need a high-quality brand.

  - Fermented cod liver oil (FCLO) has more fat soluble vitamins but less omega-3.

  - If you eat enough fat soluble vitamins otherwise (eg: grass-fed butter) you probably don't need FCLO.

  - If you eat enough fatty fish, you probably don't need fish oil.

(I buy expensive fish oil, rather than FCLO, cuz I'm pretty confident in my fat soluble vitamin intake.)

You gotta experiment to find out what works for you.
