Raptron's Pre-Meet Training MONTAGE

MAIN QUEST:

Compete on my gym's recreational gymnastics team next competition season (January - April 2014)

Even Rocky had a montage...

Here's the facts:

*Returned to gymnastics in July after a 12-year hiatus

*Joined a recreational team

*First meet is going to be February 15th at the LATEST.

We've got a lot of work to do now, so we're gonna need a montage.

Goals for this challenge:

1. Maintain status quo

tumblr_mvmqmz4q8G1shgm1ro1_250.gif

*Continue gymnastics 2-3x a week

*Continue weight lifting 2-3x a week

I've been pretty good about this and I'm just so excited about gymnastics that this goal should be a piece of cake, but I'll still include it for accountability.

2. Daily Rep Grind

59tNG.png

*Stretch every day

*Basic conditioning circuit every day

I'm not very good at this "every day" nonsense, but here we go. Let's see what we can do!

3. Conditioning

tumblr_m86beyO2ER1r0m2gio1_500.gif

*3 gymnastics WOD a week from http://www.drillsandskills.com/

*Good HIIT sessions at least once a week

*Jump drills once a week

I have really let my gymnastics conditioning fall by the wayside. Using DaS.com should help get me back on track. I've also got to work on my jumps as they are sad and sorry, as well as get into better cardiovascular shape for floor routine run throughs.

4. Watch Dat Food

tumblr_m8ive8Yg1d1r50g2po1_500.gif

Girl you gotta get dat protein up. I'll be shooting for 100g of protein a day for now, while also watching my food intake in general. I've got to cut down on my snacking and shed some fluff for competition season.

DISCLAIMER: I TALK ABOUT GYMNASTICS A LOT. LIKE A LOT A LOT. Be prepared!

SO pumped for your challenge. What is your daily conditioning routine? I have my daily workout set up, but it seems heavy on the flexibility and light on the conditioning.  And I have to say... *YAY GYMNASTICS!!!!*

HI ALL! <3

Cavilie:  I'm still refining my basic daily conditioning routine, but I think it'll be along the lines of:

15  v-up, log roll, v-up

15 hollow rocks

15  v-up, log roll, v-up

15 supermans

15 push-ups

15 downward dog push-ups

3 x 5 against-the-wall handstand push-ups

30 against-the-wall handstand shoulder taps

10 hanging tuck leg lifts

10 hanging straight leg lifts

10 hanging straddle leg lifts

3 x 5 pistol squats, each leg

15 jumping squat jumps

I also want to do straddle holds, but I think that will be more of a side project/investment.

Hello, hello! :D As a reference during this challenge, here is my gymnastics skill spreadsheet from the last thread: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmHJcu8ajmD8dGFidEZMSWNaN3RhMnlWNEJqeUZhSlE&usp=drive_web#gid=2 I still haven't added the conditioning component I wanted to other than warm-ups, but I'll be adding to it periodically throughout the challenge.

Also, it's only fair to let you guys know that I am not starting my challenge until next Monday with the rest of the "official" challenge crew. I'm leaving for a mini vacation tomorrow through Monday, so I won't be focusing on much other than tacos and drinking for the next 5 days.

Oh and just a matter of opinion but montages should be to the soundtrack of Eye of the Tiger.  :P

Sub'd for gymnastic awesomness!

Using a bodyweight routine I have started to progress to beginner gymnastic moves to up the difficulty. Even though a muscle up is considered a beginner's move :o  So I'm really interested to see how this challenge goes!

Good luck!

Mad Hatter: As a side quest, I'll try to get some videos up during this challenge. Right now a stretching overview is on my agenda, but I can film some drills as well if you guys like. Make a real montage at the end of things I learned or improved over the challenge!

I may also need thoughts + advice when I start choreographing my floor routine in the upcoming month or so.

Baralien: Muscle-ups are only a beginner move when you are like 10 years old and weigh 80 lbs! ;)
