ScoutSays Posted November 5, 2013 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2013 I am so excited for this challenge, but I AM glad I have this week to really THINK about things...For my last challenge I graded the first goal differently, and if I logged every day I got an A, but I have a habit of logging every day already, so I decided to make it a PASS/FAIL this time. YIKES! lol I've also added my MyFitnessPal diet/exercise log into my signature, so I can't cheat, not that I would, but I like to be REALLY accountable! I am going to try to eat Paleo 90% of the time. I am already gluten-free and I am having some issues with dairy, so I need to cut that out too, so I guess it shouldn't be too much harder! lol I'm pretty comfortable with my other 2 goals, because I have 2 friends who I am working out with now! It's so much easier to make excuses to myself, but I am not going to let a friend down! I have my husband as a backup in case something happens that my friends can't work out. I work out Mon-Wed-Fri at 6:00 am with my pastor at her house, we are doing body weight circuits currently. I am just today starting to work out with another friend Tuesday-Thurs evenings at 7:00pm, we will be starting with Zumba, which I LOVE!! That leaves one day a week to get in more cardio. I don't have a set plan for that, and that's what I love about it, I can go walking, running, play tennis, dance, etc. My side quest is the one that terrifies me the most!! I know I can do it, but studying for the NASM CPT is like going to medical school!! lol Anyway, a week to make sure these are the goals I am really set on! I'll be using a cheeseball container, pvc pipe, and some cement to make my custom kettelbell. The huge zombiehead on the far left is 72 pounds. That's just crazy. Link to comment

I think I am going to definitely start out smaller! I am just doing mostly bodyweight right now. I don't have access to a gym and am money-poor currently, so I am buying things as I can afford them. I bought a 12 lb bar thingy that I am using for squats and rows right now... it's way too light for squats, but I have tendonitis in my elbows so it's not bad for rows right now. I am also doing wall push-ups currently because floors push-ups kill my elbows. I am just trying to get my joints good and strong because I eventually do want to lift HEAVY things!! RogueWelkin Posted November 5, 2013 Report Share Posted November 5, 2013 Hey, it's your challenge so you can feel free to ignore what I'm about to say. Usually size/weight goals are a bit iffy for goals. While they are trackable they're not always predictable or accurate, feel free to look back at my past challenges to get a good luck at how different those measurements can be. In my second challenge I initially planned to utilize a waist size as a goal, but someone had suggested instead to just focus on the things I'm doing in order to reach it. Also, you don't really want anything that's straight up pass/fail. Because if you've made progress, but are a pound or .025ths of an inch away, then suddenly you've failed and you'll just feel that all your hard work and effort didn't pay off, when it obviously did. I'd suggest focusing more on the things you're doing to hit that weight. Tracking, Exercise, Diet, even things you might be doing to help your mental status are important (free time, reading, etc). I'd urge you to reconsider that first goal and the pass/fail for it. But as I said right off, it's your challenge so you do what you feel is best for you, none of us will know you as well as you know yourself. I will probably keep that goal but change it from a pass/fail because I totally agree that it would SUCK to miss it by such a little amount! LOL I work at a medical clinic scanning files all day.Pros: I'm in an office all by myself so I can watch or listen to whatever I want!Cons: It's boring. Drug reps bring in lunch 3x a week, and most of it is not healthy. Drug reps bring in all kinds of snacks and junk all week. So, I bring my lunch everyday in case there is nothing good I can eat and I try to stay away from downstairs (I work upstairs) because that is where all the snacky crap is!! I also have a photography business. I have thought about challenging myself to photograph my food each day... I have tried it and always end up failing to keep up with it! LOL I also plan to do a Selfie 365 project where I take a photo of myself everyday for one year. I know I can do that one! lol I am also studying for my NASM Certified Personal Trainer certification. I know I am not THERE yet as far as being fit, but I thought it would be a good motivator to GET THERE! ScoutSays Posted November 5, 2013 Author Report Share Posted November 5, 2013 I thought for this challenge I would show more of who I was and who I am... I was always PAINFULLY thin growing up. My parents were sure I had an eating disorder, but I didn't. I just could not gain weight. I am 5'2" and I was 110 at my heaviest in high school. Right after high school I got pregnant with my first son. He is almost 21 years old now. I started gaining weight with my pregnancy and over the last 21 years I ballooned up to 219 at my heaviest. Part of it was my thyroid, which I am hypothyroid, insulin-resistant, obese... I finally in the last few months got my doctor to put me on another thyroid med, and I am finally losing weight. Before, i could eat really well and workout for an hour every day and never lose an ounce or an inch! It was so frustrating. I felt awful... my husband has been great, never telling me I am fat or anything, but I felt bad because he didn't marry a fat girl... he doesn't deserve it. He deserves a fit girl who is not depressed! I am FINALLY turning my life around, and thanks to Nerd Fitness, I am NOT going to quit. People who aren't here do NOT understand the motivation and accountability these forums give a person!!! It's AWESOME!! Anyway, pictures lol Me as a little girl!!
