Oh hey yeah, that makes sense now.  Thanks Joedog!     Still a deficit, just not the 3500 calorie deficit per week that they seem to think is my goal.    (That was because of the one day I ate 3200 calories lololol)

Just got back from the gym and my 'free assessment'.    LOL~  I am all blushing and on cloud 9.   The woman who spoke with me was their new fitness manager, and she apparently was on the cover of People for having lost 140lbs and was on a few talk shows and this is now her passion.   Yada yada.  She was actually really nice.   But as she ran down her bullet point list of what to ask potential clients, I was answering her questions with "all correct answers" and I was "already really knowledgeable about all of this".   She also said I looked really fit already.    THAT WAS A SHOCKER!  I still see myself as needing so much help, and here's their fitness manager telling me I look like a fit person.    That made my day!    I also was pleasantly surprised by what their reading was on the body fat percentage (26.6%) as opposed to my home scale (has me around 29-30%).   I'm not sure which is more accurate, I feel like the higher one might be -- but regardless, so long as the numbers move down I am on the right path.

I then got a second compliment from a random gym goer there.   An older (I say older only in comparison to the other clientele, he was probably in my age bracket) fellow came over after I finished my pull ups and started on some cable rows (I like those because I can force the motion into my back that way.   A lot of other exercises I cheat and use my biceps) and he had this wide grin on his face and said, "You are just awesome.  Seriously, you rock.  Your form is just so good with these."    I blushed and said thanks, secretly on the inside glowing a good 120watts or so.

I didn't do any assisted pull ups, because I just can't get my foot into the thing well enough on these bars to not risk a totally embarrassing dismount.    So I just did 5 sets of unassisted to max.    Some regain from lost woes... sorta.

JENN!  I messed around with Jefit -- that's what you use right?  because I left my tracking book at home.   I AM SO LOST ON THAT THING!

Strength Workout 1/3

  • Pull ups : 4, 3, 3, 2, 2 - For a grand total of 14.
  • Squats : 70#, 5 sets of 5
  • Cable Rows: 26# (each side?) 3 sets of 10
  • Dips (with assistance band) : 10, 6, 4 (I am so going to feel these)
  • Plank - 1 at 60 seconds.

I also ran through just the assessment stuff which included some wall squats (3 sets), lunges, bodyweight squats, planks on ball, rolling planks, incline push ups, inverted rows and other various things.    It wasn't enough to count toward anything, but it was enough to not set up a full size overload workout afterward.  Plus, I wanted to get home and eat before 8pm.

I stopped at Boston Market since there was no healthy eatings waiting for me at home.   Once I got home, my fitbit informed me I could eat the cornbread - in fact I SHOULD eat the cornbread, to get up to a responsible level of caloric intake for the day.  So I did.  Hey!  I had the 1/4 chicken white skinless, with veggies and roasted new potatoes.   The cornbread was the only splurge.

I is in goofy silly, giddy mood.   Gonna rearrange my room now!     <3

Keep going strong Starpuck. You are doing awesome this challenge!

And Joedog, I started hockey when I was 32 and it was awesome. I'd still be playing if we hadn't had a third kid and the rink was an hour and a half away from home. The only injuries you get are from being dumb... not stretching properly. Taking a 5 minute shift and trying to sprint at the end. Tripping int he locker room...

Short update here for my own sake.

Ran yesterday.   Outside.   OUT. Freaking. Side.  Despite it being Nov 19th and my living in Chicagoland.  It was a pretty day!  Sunny... though brisk (around 45 degrees) but it was actually pretty nice.  Except that all the fat in my legs gets really cold out there lol.    Did 3.2 miles in 32 minutes give or take, so still hovering around the 10 minute mile even outside, even without running 3x a week these days.

As for today.

Work has been brutal this week (boss is out again) and some major fires keep coming up.   I was running late to work and had no bacon left, so my eggs and bacon wasnt gonna happen.   Knew I'd be lifting tonight, so figured today could be my burrito breakfast day.   Had 2 of them.   Work continued to piss me right the frak off.    Until I reached this moment on Skype:

[10:52:52 AM] Renee: Is it an 'Eat the fuck out of the buffet' day?
[10:53:59 AM] nick: that's every day for me.
[10:54:21 AM] Renee: So we on?
[10:54:30 AM] nick: oh....it's on!
[10:54:35 AM] nick: like donkey kong
[10:54:44 AM] Renee: Sweet.

I also have a dinner out tonight because I am going to see Thor with some of my friends and it's one of those movie AND a dinner places.  I already browsed the menu, and NONE of it is good, but I am opting for some kind of grilled chicken wrap where I can ditch the wrap and just eat the chicken and veggies and cheese.     That said.   Pretty much marking off today as a frak it day.

Which is going to be tricky, since we are celebrating my b-day on Friday with the guys and we're going to a Gourmet burger place.   I figure, if today is frak it, and I have one non-clean meal planned for Friday, if the REST of my days and meals are more along the lines of 95/5 on the breakdown, I can still finish this week at the 80/20 overall generalization.

Blah.

So that fact that you're havnig a bad day is terrible, I'm sorry! I haven't run lately because Chicago this time of year isn't running weather but I've got to get it together tonight. Also I too have a birthday this weekend! I hope that you have a blast at your Birthday. Don't stress too much over the food, just enjoy the not usual stuff and keep working hard.

Oh man!  A fellow Chicago'er and a late November birthday?    HI TWIN!    My b-day is actually the 29th, but next weekend is a rough weekend for celebrating, so friends are doing it this weekend.

I think I have a good mental grasp on the food today.   I am treating it as a 'Eh, it happens.'    As opposed to a 'I cheated today,' or 'I was so bad', or 'I blew it.'

Ya know what I did?

I had food!

That I enjoyed.

And ate without guilt.

Tomorrow I will eat food I also enjoy, but it will be of the more body-fueling type.

I love me some bad guys that have charm and wit.  *Le sigh*   I shall be dreaming of Loki tonight.   Though Thor IS the only blonde haired actor I've ever found hot.

Mmm Loki.

I took myself to the gym before the movie, go me.   I had a decent work out, I think.   Pull up form is kinda off from where it was, but it's always different bars than I am used to.   Once I get some strength back, I'll work on fixing form again I think.

Strength 2/3

  • Pull Ups - 4,3,3,3,1 +Negative
  • Dead Lifts - 75#, 10 X3
  • Bench Press - 75#, 10, 8, 10
  • Weighted Step Ups - 25#, 10 X3 (each leg)   **these get my heart rate up so fast lol
  • Dead Bug Bicycles - 20 rotations each leg
  • Lying Straight Leg Raise - 10
  • Spiderman Planks - 10 (each side)

Pull up total : 14

Anxious for some super clean yummy eating tomorrow.   (Because I got totally spoiled tonight!)

You are doing great on your challenge, Starpuck! Love the pic with your bestie, and you totally deserve the compliments! Congrats on the goal and on making such great progress on THE GOALS. I know that you need to track the places where you fall short, but don't let those few times pull your sights off the tremendous progress you are making!

Thanks guys!   I am actually doing a fair job of not obsessing over yesterday's food indulgence festival lol.

Cheechoe - DEAD. Freaking. Bugs!    Found this a while ago, and it's just great core work stuff - but, you really do have to focus on keeping the small of your back pressed flat to the ground.   When I was shown the difference between tightening your core and flattening your back on moves like this ... and the old, arch the back and do whatever it takes way ... HUGE difference.    I like them because they are so "simple" and can be done anywhere, and really work your core stuff fierce.

Ugh quick update as I am trying to get some things scratched off my as of late life to do list.    (Update my team's website, figure out our stats, etc.)    And work is being stupid busy.

Ran yesterday at lunch.  3.05 miles, 9:52 pace.  Indoors.  Skippy.

Food tantrum at night.    Friend picked up food for all of us, failed to pay attention that the order total was too low to include everyone's order.   Mine was the lucky omission.   I wanted to watch BBT, so said just wait till after to figure out where I'd get food.   To make me less hungry, built me a PB&J sandwich - which, given the gesture I ate.   And it was like 400 calories of emptiness - totally didn't fill me up.   Then I ended up eating popcorn at the gaming table, followed by about 12 mini donuts, then BK Whopper Jr and fries that another friend brought, followed by chips and salsa that ANOTHER friend bought.

Woke up flustered.   B-Day dinner out tonight.  Day felt lost from the beginning.   Burritos, Wendy's and Cookie dough.   Yeah.  This time it was a frak it, honey badger don't give a shit, total melt down.    I ain't happy about it.    And at the same time, I also can't find enough shits to give.     C'est la vie.    Tomorrow will be a better day.   Just gonna roll with today and get it out of the way.    I do love me some buffalo burger and bread pudding, and that's what is on tap for tonight.   Followed by Rock Band and Pictionary.  Yay for b-day fun tiems.

So while food failed this week, the workouts will be a 100% goal as I am hitting the gym tonight before dinner or tomorrow morning.

Blah.   BLAH I SAY!
