Brometheus
Hey! I know it's been a while, but I thought it might be fun to do a challenge. Lift heavy weights I'm currently recovering from a soft tissue issue that has gotten me back to square zero (65# squat 3x3, 65# bench 3x5, and ?? Deadlift). I'm going to the TTTT and would like to at least put some #'s on the board, but I've realized that the most important thing is showing up, putting the work in, and being happy with that. My goal is to show up to the gym 2x a week (3x being a good stretch goal), and doing some sort of heavy lifting + metcon (5-10 min). Post I know that I'm lax about posting here during the end of the challenge. I want to post 3x a week, and bonus points for taking the time to post 5-6x a week. Eat veggies at (least) two meals a day My eating is....fascinating. I usually eat veggies w/ dinner, and am merely adding these to lunches. I would describe my diet as such: http://www.archevore.com/get-started/ I might try to add veggies to my breakfast's too, but am unsure at this point. If there's one thing I'm discovering about myself, is that small changes tend to work better than anything else. Mobilize I'm starting to realize how stiff I am. Spending time with my physical therapist has been a date with pain, and I need that to stop. I want to utilize the tools at my disposal, and that means that I need to properly warm up / cool down for every workout session. I also need to roll out my feet, and take the time to voodoo floss several times a week (wrists, knees, calves and ankles). Stats Weight: 292.5. (this doesn't make any sense since I weighed 310 a month ago, but I'll take it). Link to comment

Brometheus
Week 1, Day 1 I always enjoy the first day of a challenge... I convinced myself to get up early, and got to the gym! Today was my first prowler experience in quite a while...and damn. I forgot how "awesome" it leaves you feeling afterwards. I ate veggies with my meals, which was cool. I'm learning that I actually like veggies when they're prepped and ready to be eaten. I also updated my first post w/ weight and photos. Yes, I'm getting a haircut tomorrow, since I didn't realize it had gotten that far out of control... >.< Link to comment

Brometheus
Week 1 Day 2 Today was...interesting. Brought veggies for lunch. Had more veggies with dinner. Even had veggies when I was prepping lunch. I'm now trying to figure out what I should try next, and how I should cook it. I'm thankful that today is (my) friday, and I now am off. I spent the last couple hours working in the bakery. Nothing quite like spending time with muffins and pies to make you consider what "food" is. I kept reminding myself that this might look great, but what it is going to do to my progress, to my goals, and to my body? It's not worth it, I can tell you that. Today it might be the temptation of a muffin, but tomorrow it might be cake, and next week it may be pancakes. Regardless, I need to keep on eating food that makes me happy and healthy. It reminds me of what Nate Miyaki wrote in "find your fight".... "Excellence is never easy – that's the point. There will be ups and downs, adversity, and setbacks. There will be days where you will absolutely want to quit. But when you know what you're fighting for, you will find a way to persevere." Link to comment
cline
hey good for you!!!!! It's got to be hard working in a bakery when you are trying to do what's best for you. Really hard. Keep up the motivation and the veg!!! At least if you are eating veg you won't be physically hungry. That will help. Keep at it! And yea friday!!!! Brometheus
Subbed. Looking forward to seeing how this works out for you. As an avid veggie fan (and a vegetarian), I'm really interested in the vegetables aspect. Also more than happy to provide dressing/serving ideas. Veggies....always interesting. NOT. I don't really like them. I don't really hate them. I'm really trying to get better at liking them. I usually saute them in ghee, or with bacon (not so vegetarian). But any recipes are always nice. hey good for you!!!!! It's got to be hard working in a bakery when you are trying to do what's best for you. Really hard. Keep up the motivation and the veg!!! Brometheus
Week 1 Day 3 Today was good. Got to sleep in, had lunch with my dad, then headed to Costco and got a bunch of "important" supplies. Like an electric tea-kettle. Somehow I moved and lost it. But now I have one. Thank goodness, because I just got a bunch of tea in the mail. Then I headed out and went to the gym. Completely kicked ass. When I started lifting about a week ago, my "ohp" (if you can even call it that), was the bar (45#'s) for a triple. Today? 75#'s for a triple! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. So happy to get back on the wagon. Now I'm waiting for 100#'s. Gym: OHP / SLED 45# x 355# x 375# x 3 Then I decided some punishment (aka my workout "finisher") was in order, and loaded up the sled. I pulled that (with 2 plates) for 1k feet. Then added another plate, then another 1k feet. Then added the 4th plate, and did 2k ft. Boom! Then I pulled it backwards, and ugh...discovered my weakness. There will be a lot of backwards walking with a sled in my future. I also did some more walking (1.2m) over to my church's small group. What a relaxing way to end the evening. Link to comment

Brometheus
Week 1 Day 5 Today is the last day of my weekend, and I quite enjoyed it. I got a phone call late last night from a friend that I thought didn't want to talk to me...it was a lot of fun to just talk about what's happening with life. We had a couple minute chat (out of a 45 minute talk) about why we thought we weren't talking...and then realized it was just a huge misunderstanding. So we're going to go and have breakfast sometime next week. I also bought a ticket to go see Doctor Who in 3D! I thought it was showing on saturday (the 23rd), but the only tickets I could find were for the following monday. So....I guess I'm watching it twice? Once on cable, and the other in the theater. Then I got fixed up by my pt, got blood taken for thyroid stuff, and then to the gym! I managed to get a double for 75#'s with squatting...though the last rep could be called more of a power curtsy than an actual squat. Then I did 5x5 good mornings with the safety squat bar, and called it good. I think I'm going to start playing around with front squats, some safety squat bar squats, and some goblet squats. I'm not worried about the power curtsy, but I'm noticing definite weaknesses that I can fix now, which'll be a lot easier than trying to fix them later. Link to comment
cline
a power curtsy is a fine place to start when you are coming back!!! Plus, seriously, I love goblet squats (but boooo... don't do them any more). They really helped me progress. I think it's a great call! Yea on the friend! But WHOO HOO on the Doctor! I AM going the distance 'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood.
