MAIN QUEST: REAL PUSHUPS

 

GOAL #1 push ups  3 STR

Continuing from the last 2 challenges. 

Trying to do crossfit 4x week.  On all non-crossfit days I must do 5 countertop pushups everytime I go into the kitchen and 5 2nd stair pushups everytime I go upstairs.

The goal is to do pushups EVERY day.  If I don't do my pushups at home on non-crossfit days, I will have to do 10 burpees the following day, above and beyond whatever else I am doing that day.

.5/week if I do some every day.

 

 

GOAL#2 NO processed foods  3CON/2CHA

SO, I really wanted to do another Whole30.  My issue with this, is I will start one, then my car or something in my house breaks which costs me money and I end up eating whatever is in the house and buying cheap processed foods.  So I am changing my focus this challenge.

I will not purchase any processed foods when grocery shopping. I will be awarding .5pts CON for each week I go shopping and not buy anything processed.  2 CHA for doing the best with the money that I have and not bailing on this goal because funds are low and throwing out or donating the processed crap I have at home.  (I will probably keep the pasta though and eventually allow myself to eat it up 1 every other week or something like that)

The hope is to stock up on meats etc when I have some extra money and get the processed foods out of my house so if funds are low, I still have lots of healthy choices to fall back on and I don't purchase any junk.

GOAL#3  Bible reading  3WIS

This has been on the last couple of challenges also. My goal is to finish reading my "So, that's why Bible" by the end of November. 

I am currently on page 1149 or 1668 which leave 519pgs.  Which would mean I have to read 27.3 pages/day or 191.2/week. I could easily rush through and read it all, but that would defeat the point.  I am going to try my best and see where I get at the end of this week.  This my be edited.

Great idea with the food! I'm trying to figure out that problem when I start living on my own, I don't want to end up with the eating habits of a college student! But I'll end up borrowing your idea I think.

GOAL#1 - went to crossfit last night did pushups in the warmup.

               -our skill was death by burpees got to 10 and gave up (disclaimer: I don't usually give up buy my hand was hurting do to a pretty nasty burn just over a week ago)

               - the workout had handstand pushups in it - not the same muscle group for building on my pushups, but super fun!! (disclaimer: I was on a box, not doing real HSPU)

PS: It felt SOOOO good returning to class after almost 2 weeks (due to the burn)  It's amazing how cranky I start to get when I don't work out!!!

 

GOAL#3 - read pages 1149 -1174 = 25pages - this may just be doable, although some of those pages where so and so the son of so and so who had 10 sons their names were .....in total 2 thousand blah blah blah....so needless to say I skimmed most of that.  BUT I also had class last night, coloured my hair, did my homework for my Bible study and put out some more Christmas decorations.  SO if I can average 25pgs a week night that only leaves 66.2 pages for Satuday and Sunday which is doable, except maybe because the 30th is a Saturday. .....maybe I should revamp to be finished Dec1????  No not yet.  I can do this!!

I skip that part to, the only lineage list I liked to read was in Genesis when they also mentioned how long they lived. It's amazing how humans went from almost living a thousand years to trying to get past 70-80.

But I HATE burpees!!!  I have a great love and respect for them, but still HATE them.

I'll get back to you on the workout, I had a really stressful day today and I just made it my rest time. I'll have it up tomorrow for sure! But it looks like this for starters:

10 Burpees

10 Hurpee Burpees

10 Four Finger Death Punch Burpees

10 Animal Style Burpees

?

 

I'm stuck on the last one, the other three are I-Jo's and mine creations!

*sigh* ok, I tried the hurpee burpee's once and remember reading about the Four Finger Death punch burpees...but you're gonna have to link me or give me explanations of them....

take your time getting back to me on these although....I could do it Saturday cause the Santa Clause parade is the same time as my normally scheduled work out.

 

Only got 14 pages read last night.  :nightmare:  I texted Hi! to a friend and for some reason that meant to him he should call me and talk to me for an hour and a half, extremely cutting into my reading time! Whatever, hopefully I can read another 40 tonight and get caught up.

GOAL #1 push ups  Done!  Did crossfit mon/tues, pushups wed/thurs, crossfit Friday and hopefully the previously mentioned burpee workout tomorrow.  The Santa Clause parade is on at the same time my class is and we all go as a family.  Mom, Dad, Sister and her kids - WILL NOT miss that!! :highly_amused:

 

 

GOAL#2 NO processed foods  I bought me a ladder *does a little dance* :love_heart: :love_heart: yeah I know way off topic, but it means I won't have much for groceries this week.  However , I didn't buy any when I went shopping on the weekend (technically before the challenge) and haven't for a couple of weeks SOOOO I have lots of healthy foods in my house to fall back on, just need to buy me some veggies to go with it!!!

I usually won't take that as my weight until I've weighed myself 2 or 3 days in a row and it's stayed the same.  I forgot this morning, but I have an "official weigh-in" tonight at crossfit...updates to follow.

 

GOAL#3  Bible reading  The last couple of nights life has gotten in the way a little, but I think I'm still on a good track for the week. I'm at around 99pages read and hopefully after class tonight I can just sit and read.  Then I have all weekend, besides you know the life stuff that needs to be done, like cleaning and putting up Christmas lights.  Woohoo!!

What kind of ladder? Is it a Little Giant? Because those things are just fun to play with!

 

That's so cool that your just a few pounds away from getting below 200! Now I want a scale to see where I am....hmmm need to find that scale.

Its an A frame, 13' extendable ladder.  Its made by Mastercraft which is Canadain tire's own brand.  Candian Tire is kinda like Home Depot but has been around here longer and well is Canadian.  They make good stuff.  My dad went and checked it out and picked it up for me, I still haven't got it, so I also haven't had a chance to play with it yet :(

 

I weighed myself Saturday and Today and I'm at 202...woohoo!! Friday night at my weigh in I was 207, but that was at night so....

 

I read a total of 187 pages last week,  Pretty close to my goal.  I slack a little on Sunday, but I was worn out also and kept dozing off, so I put a movie in and chilled out.

 

I didn't go grocery shopping this weekend.  I did go out an buy a bag of chips though :/  Still didn't buy anything processed to sit in my house and tempt me.  The chips were a conscious decision all be it, not a great one.

Wow! That's amazing! But if weight does fluctuate that noticeably between the morning and evening, then it's a good thing I can't weigh myself at home. I would be to depressed.

 

Throw the chips away!

 

That Mastercraft ladder looks really similar to a Little Giant....very suspicious..... <_<

Like in anything you have to find what works for you.  I don't usually weigh myself in the evening (although I have since then just to check the variances) and I will not consider a weight to be my new weight until I have weighed that 2 or 3 days in a row.  Yes, that means I weigh myself almost every day, but I don't get upset about it.  I focus how strong I am becoming, the inches and weight loss are more like a bonus.  A REALLY REALLY good bonus!!! :nevreness:

 

I would but I ate them. It was a conscious decision to go get them and eat them while watching a movie. I know it's not the best decision, but I made it and am okay with it. I still did not buy stuff to sit in my house and avoid which is the main part. Making the decision to go get something and eat it is different.

 

It does really look like the little giant. You know how it is though, they tweak it a little and call it their own.  My dad dropped it off today. I get to play with it when I get home.  WOOOHOOO!!

 

Oh!! and I deadlifted 155lbs last night.  I am SUPER excited about this, my last PB I had written down was 125lbs in February. CRUSHED IT!!  AND one of the girls from my class (one of the ones I have always said I want to be like weight lifting wise) said to me last night "You're doing really good huh? I can see the changes in you!"  YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!

I like the conscious decision making for the one moment you're in. You're not stocking up or hiding it from people. It's not a depressed moment - if it were I'd imagine there would have been a lot more than chips involved (in my case it certainly would be).

 

Please, remind me what you do for push up exercises. I need to get on the ball and a little inspiration would be helpful right about now. Thanks

The ladder is pretty cool.  I still need to extend it fully, but it's raining and dark when I get home from work.  It's good to know I'm not the only woman in the world who likes ladders and such.  My mom, sister and many of my friends think I'm wierd, but then again they all have husbands who do these things for them.  Plus - EMBRACE THE WEIRD!!

 

Make the push ups a game....you have to do 5 before you go for a walk or everytime you pass your computer, something like that.  Even if it's only once a day - make sure they are good ones.

Also my trainer said to do 20 pushups a day by lying on the ground and just pushing up straight 1 every minute until they become easy then try doing 2 every minute etc.  (even if you do for the first 5 or 10 at first and 1 for the rest).  i don't like waiting so I don't like doing this, but it might work for you.

Oh My!!!  I'm really positive I could not be seen in these!!

 

LostOne:  I did look at Target last night for some epic pants, they didn't have much at the one by me, they did have a nice pair of dark purple ones.  They had some awesome work out tops though.  I have decided that I will not buy anything until I reach my goal.  Being close is not good enough!!

 

Update:

Pushups are being done, and I'm getting a little lower in the stair pushups - soon!!!

 

Groceries were bought - went out twice this week.  I bought some flour for baking (not for me) also marshmallows and choc.chips to make fudge.  Which was made for my dads bday and for a grey cup party I have this weekend. - I have some left overs but they will also be used for baking.  So nothing processed purchased to sit in the house tempting me eating wise.  I almost always have baking supplies, because everyone knows I like baking and expects me to bring some for parties etc.

 

reading - not bad, Mon 23, tues 27, wed 4, thurs 10 - I should be able to make it up on the weekend as I have to work and it's usually really slow in the pm and my supervisor won't let me take my work to the other office so.... reading it is

Good goal, don't spend money on some clothes your won't fit in for long. I approve!

 

Sneak in some Nom Nom paleo creations when you bake something for a party, then let your friends know and get them on the wagon!

I agree. I bought new jeans and now, thankfully - except for my wallet - I have to but another size down. The wallet has really taken a beating this year. So I'm back to doing alterations and I'm gonna buy a Marine Corps belt - it is adjustable!

I have a friend that keeps telling me we need to go shopping because all my jeans have "saggy bum".  I keep telling her they are going to last me the winter!  To which I get...Um..hun! You already have saggy bum, you work out ALOT and you eat really healthy......*looks at her* just saying! Me: I have a belt!!! 

The best part is I'm not going to my office Christmas party this year, so I don't have to find something to wear.  YEAH!!

 

Official weigh in at crossfit last night 205lbs.Down 2lbs and .08% body fat from the previous week.  I was pretty happy considering I was thinking my diet wasn't that great this week with the chips and all.  I guess it was better than I gave myself credit for.

 

Oh!! and foam rollers are of the devil!!! The devil I tell you!  My trainer made me try it cause I'm having some pain in my ATL or ACL?? (the muscle that runs down the front side of your thigh) Oh my word did it hurt! Yet felt good at the same time.  The devil!

 

I'm off to go catch up on my reading!

LOL "the devil wears foam" screw prada. Yea, I tried out foam rollers on my shoulders, the same band you're talking about, and my butt.

LOL the rollers sound like their worth getting, it's so bad, but so good! What kind of roller would you recommend?
