For those who don't know me, I am a CrossFit junkie / comic book aficionado / (semi) paleo practitioner / government law enforcement guy.Here's my main quest!~ To get stronger and gain more muscle. Side Quests: ~ Follow my Crossfit gym's Post WOD strength training program (at least) 2x week.~ Run (at the minimum) of one mile per week.~ Be in bed no later than 1:00 AM (possibly extended to 2:00 AM if necessary) each night.Life Quest:~ Finish Season 3 & 4 of Doctor Who! IKE Posted November 11, 2013 Author Report Share Posted November 11, 2013 Here's a link to the Jim Wendler's 5-3-1 strength training program that my gym is following:A "Men's Fitness" article explaining the 5/3/1 method.The philosophy is that you figure out your training percentage which consists of 90% of your 1 REP MAX. You then utilize percentages of your training weight on the four following lifts: Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift, and Shoulder Press. IKE Posted November 12, 2013 Author Report Share Posted November 12, 2013 Tuesday November 12, 2013My Deadlift 1 Rep Max is 345 so that made my training weight 210 lbs.5x = 2003x = 2351x = 265This is following Snatches and Clean & Jerk's from the regular CrossFit class!Also, did a two mile run at the local park. The weather feels really breezy out here in H-Town.Went to sleep around 1:30 AM last night which isn't that bad. I'm actually on a brief vacation from work! Yes, I went to a Parkour class with a pretty awesome Kender.That evening of Parkour was probably the most fun I've had in awhile. What a dynamic form of fitness! I have strong admiration for those who devote and excell themselves in this practice. I'd love to do it again sometime. Managed to knock out 3 reps of 305 lbs and it felt damn good!I've been sleeping around 1:30ish the past two nights which isn't too bad...Anyways, I finally figured out how to post GIF's! The bad news is that I haven't done any strength work this week, and that I had to miss CrossFit today due to my right shoulder feeling strained (which was probably due to the 115 lbs push presses we did yesterday).I've also been staying up late past 2am these past two days. Anyways, hopefully this shoulder soreness goes away soon. It won't be the first time this has happened!
