Sounds like you are doing well Orc!  I too would have had issues at the long breakfast graze.    I love your workouts man.   They are so crisp and clean and full of awesome.  Grats on the PRs.

I think it's just hard for us orc types to focus on eating.   We're all brawn and big empty bellies.

Thanks, Starpuck! You may be right about us orc types, it feels like that some days. But today was on track pretty well. 1620 cals, felt pretty good.

And thanks for the workout comment, although I just lifted it from a 5x5 variant I found on one of the boards, so I can't take much credit. I do find I tend to groove on improvement, so it's good for me to stick with something long enough to see that. This workout plan uses small weekly steps to increase, and that's helping me. Just wound up week 6 today, and this morning I PR'd in all three exercises. Squat 205, BP 130, BBO rows 140. Felt good. :-)

great job keeping on and putting together some motivating tips! I'm also a terrible food grazer and have to remove myself from the situation or I will give in. Otherwise, during the week, I just keep myself full with the planned foods I've laid out for the day and I don't typically crave any bad foods if they're not around.

Thanks, they've been helpful for me to review and get them flowing back through my head.  Helped me avoid several food derailments in the last few days.  Your planning is good - that makes it easier for me when I've worked ahead too, usually with the cook-large-amounts-of-several-healthy-things-on-the-weekend plan, and eat healthy leftovers during the week.  Speaking of which, your spicy turkey soup was superb!!! Made it last night, and me and the wife both loved it! Lightened up on the spices a bit as she's not a fan of "what bites back," as she puts it.  But it was awesome.  And the week before I made the meat slop you got from Caution - also a winner!  Thanks for providing your fellow NFers such practical and tasty guidance!  I appreciate it greatly.   :peaceful:

Note:  I hope you don't mind I put them both on my favorite healthy recipes thread - just wanted to share them because I liked them so much.

Put together several good eating days in a row now (1700-1900 cals, good macros) - feeling good.  Feeling like my head is finally straightening out, motivation is coming up again, and I'm liking it!  Weight's coming off again, too - started the challenge at 253, went up to 258 during the first couple weeks, back down to 251 this am.  I want to get down into the 240's again before challenge end.  Would love to hit 245 but think that's probably a little unrealistic unless I stay perfectly consistent at 1700-1800 cals between now and then.  :playful:   Whatever..... progress is success, right?!

Back on the workout trail - started week 7 of 5x5 madcow yesterday, going well.  Made all the lifts, hoping I can keep ramping up at least another week or two.  I like this program - helping me hit some good PRs.  Another HIIT workout on the elliptical.  Went from running outside to the elliptical in the basement since late September - just getting too dark and dangerous to run on our country roads at 5:30 am after summer ends.  And evening's for the wife and kids.  Hope to get back out there in the spring.  I took advantage of the Black Friday sale to sign up for next August's Ohio II Warrior Dash again, hoping to better my time from this year.  I'd also like to do at least a few 5K's, too.  And my 13 y/o son (runs cross country, super fit, two-mile time is low 12 min's) is nagging me to sign up for a zombie run with him, so I'd better start improving my times!   :peaceful:

Hope you guys are all doing well!  Only 15 days until Christmas!  Guess I better start shopping.  I do NOT want to do that Christmas-ever-shopping-for-the-wife thing again.  :offended:

Great job on the stringing days together Orc.  So proud of you half brother!   Ain't it great when you get the good eats going and it fuels (hah, literally) all that other good motivation.

Keep at it.  You've done so well these last few months!

Just winding things up here - I dropped off the radar that last two weeks, I know.  Finished out the challenge by continuing to eat mostly ok with some lapses, think I finished at 255.  So I gained two pounds over the course of the challenge.  Oh, well.  Last posted on 12/10, on 12/11 I had a huge hit, emotionally.  In a nutshell, had a complaint about my work from someone that suffered as a result.  Briefly...  I work in health care, wound up having to testify in a legal case earlier this year. The folks who subpoenaed me were pleased, the ones on the other side not so much - filed a professional complaint against me - giant hassle, have to get a lawyer, threatening my professional license and livelihood.  Very stressful.  Trying not to eat my stress, mostly succeeding although having some bad days.  Compounded by increasing muscle pain I've been having.  Checked with my MD as I didn't think the degree was normal considering I've been working out steadily for six months.  Then I took this last week totally off - first time I've worked out less than 5 times a week since April - but the pain is continuing unchanged.    Doctor thinks I probably am developing fibro.  What fun....

So it's been a sucky two weeks.  Felt pretty overwhelmed at first, now I'm pulling out of it and starting to see this all as a challenge.  So it's all a case of problem and response - I can't control the size, shape, or manner of the problems life throws at me, but I can control my response.  So I am determined to do so.  Already signed up for next August Warrior Dash, plan to hit some 5Ks in the spring, am getting fired up to keep leveling up my life.  I WILL NOT let this stuff knock me down - I have a wife and two kids counting on me to stay up and keep progressing, so I will.

Thanks for those of you who've been supportive - I appreciate it.  Thanks to NF.  I'll see you all in January!  Merry Christmas!
