Raxie
When I think of the Holiday season and working out or eating healthy my usual reaction is But after finishing two challenges here at NF I realized I need to keep my momentum going over the break, and not use the holidays as an excuse to eat everything in sight ...especially not the Christmas Tree. I also realized I should proably work out a bit over the break so I don't lost any of the awesome strength I gained over these last few months! I'm super proud of the definition I've gained, and I'd hate to come back to the New Years Challenge and feel defeated from the get-go because of some silly preventable thing I did over the holidays that screws me over and/or makes me feel crappy. Also, I honestly think I'd miss the working out. I've been enjoying it a lot. SO. My goals are simple: 1) Work out 2-3 times a week. Type of work out is my choice, whether it be the ABWW, yoga, snowboarding, or running. Just do something and get moving! 2) Don't eat until I want to throw up. This ones pretty self explanitory. 3) Don't drink until I want to throw up. Probably going to be slightly harder than number (2), considering NYE. But I don't need to get shwasted to have a good time. Buzzed, yes. Drunk, probably. Thirty sheets to the wind, no. 4) Stay clean (ish). I've made a lot of progress on keeping my apartment clean this last challenge. I'm not going to do Fly Lady over the break, mostly because I won't be home for most of it, but I am going to try to keep to my daily swish and swipe (for days that I'm home) and weekly laundry commitments. I'll get back to Fly Lady in January. Motivation: Don't be Homer! He does not look happy, and has clearly been over eating, over drinking, not working out and not cleaning. I want to stay happy! And not look or feel like Homer when the New Year comes. Or whatever the lady verson of Homer would be. And that's that! Happy Holidays! 2 Quote forty-seven: Raxie and the Joining of Unlike Things << previous challenges >> >> instagram || goodreads << Link to comment
idealistinfire
Those are great goals! And I know I miss my workouts when I haven't done them in a week - they're such a great way to feel accomplished in a day. I just started looking into FlyLady - what do you like about her? Raxie
I just started looking into FlyLady - what do you like about her? I have been following the Fly Lady daily and weekly missions for the past 6 week challenge. I really enjoyed it! I don't domost of the every day things (ie- shine my sink, "dress to the shoes", lay clothes out for the next day, etc), but just some of the things that work for me. Daily I do swish and swipe, a 15 minute declutter, a 2 minute hot spot, and the daily mission. I also do the weekly home blessing and the weekly detail cleaning list for the zone. My apartment has become noticably cleaner since I started, and it's great because over the course of a month you clean your whole house and don't really even realize it. It's in little daily and weekly steps. I'm most likely going to incorporate it into my next challenge as well. As for my winter break challenge, I've been doing good on all my goals. I didn't stuff myself silly at Christmas, or get horribly drunk (but tomorrow night ie NYE is the true test of that). I did some squats with my cousin on Christmas afternoon and went snowboarding on Saturday. I think I'm going to go snowboarding this Saturday as well, and I'm hoping to get in an ABWW tomorrow. That's 2 workouts for both weeks if all goes according to plan . I haven't really been in my apartment and have just been at my mom's all week so I haven't had much of a chance to clean. I did do some laundry and some quick organizing last night though so I'll count that as a win for last week for the cleaning. 1 Quote forty-seven: Raxie and the Joining of Unlike Things << previous challenges >> >> instagram || goodreads << Link to comment
Raxie
I unintentionally haven't been tracking my food calories for the first time in over a year (due to sheer busy-ness and not being home) this past week and decided I was going to stick with this decision for this last week before the next challenge. As long as I don't overreat and try to stay relatively healthy, I'm OK with not doing it. It's very freeing, which I think is a good thing during the holiday madness. 1 Quote forty-seven: Raxie and the Joining of Unlike Things << previous challenges >> >> instagram || goodreads << Link to comment
idealistinfire
Thanks for your input on flylady. I'm just starting my new routines, partially inspired by FlyLady - 15 minute clean-up in the evening (i.e., cleaning the sink) and laying out clothes in the evening plus a couple non-housing cleaning things, and I like that a lot. But I found she added too many things during her 31 baby steps and I got a bit stubborn. Perhaps I was moving too fast. Nice work on not stuffing yourself silly at Christmas! Have fun snowboarding Quote Level 5 Lizardfolk: Assassin STR - 4, DEX - 3, STA - 5, CON -4, WIS - 20, CHA - 12"You want to know the difference between a master and a beginner? Raxie
Yeah I completely skipped the baby steps because I knew I didn't want to do a lot of the habits she was enforcing during the baby steps program and just jumped right in with the parts of it I wanted to do. Thanks! Quote forty-seven: Raxie and the Joining of Unlike Things << previous challenges >> >> instagram || goodreads << Link to comment
Raxie
So even though I somehow gained like 9 pounds over the break, I technically succeeded in my mini challenge. I went snowboarding again last week, and didn't eat or drink til I felt awful. I didn't Homer out at all. I didn't get in a 4th workout because I got to ring in the new year really sick, I'm still kind of feeling it so will have to take it easy for the beginning of this next challenge, but I will manage. Anyway, here's my next 6 week challenge! 1 Quote forty-seven: Raxie and the Joining of Unlike Things << previous challenges >> >> instagram || goodreads << Link to comment
