pan-fried sardines with kale chips and tomatoes with balsamic
handful raisins
small handful enjoy life chips
 

Dinner (sardines, kale chips and heirloom tomatoes) was completely delicious. It was particularly nice because I've been having weird sweet cravings and eating a LOT of dried fruit, chocolate, etc., so it was nice to enjoy a meal that wasn't sweet at all!

Today I felt strong! I was a little annoyed because the barbell at my globo gym had zero spin, making cleans a big pain, but everything else felt GOOD.

I'm so EFFING tired of being the only person who cares about my admittedly insignificant extracurricular activities. I know that they're kind of pointless, but when I make a commitment I see it through. I'm sick of being the only person who seems to prioritize doing the work you agreed to do regardless of how checked out you might be. I'm crazy checked out of all these things, but I do the work because that's just what is done. Today I had to write e-mails for other people to send just to ensure that they would get sent.

Actually felt like my workout today was approaching previous strength levels. Not there but getting there!

 

I get asked pretty much every time I am in a weight room whether I'm training for something. I wonder how often men lifting weights get asked the same question. I would venture to say not that often.

 

You're training at being more awesome! :D

 

Really though, that's kind of sad...aren't we allowed to get strong without competing? I will compete, but just because it's fun. Most people don't care though. Going to a crossfit box does have it's merits... :)

UGH!  I feel you here.  I have volunteer work I do and a board of officers who CHOSE to volunteer for their positions and I constantly have to manage them.  How many times do I need to ask you to send that damned email?  

 

Grrrrrrrr...

 

But nontheless - you've got other interests and you care so this is really good experience for later in life when you have slacker employees.

Yesterday was a rest day. That means TODAY IS A GYM DAY! Heading over there shortly but I realized the university gym will be closed for "gym class" when I ideally want to be there. I actually resent that they keep people who actually want to be at the gym out so that people who resent having to be at the gym can have the place to themselves.

ugh, that is frustrating. but i suppose it is a school facility and needs to be utilized for school things or else they wouldn't have gotten any money to build it in the first place. i hope your awesome foods yesterday fuel a fantastic workout today!

The whole gym? Or the part you want to use? I also use the gym at the university and the climbing wall is occasionally shut down for classes, though so far not when I've wanted to use it. I've never noticed the weight room being closed but then I don't use it much.

Barbell I was using is so shitty and bent it can only rest on your front rack from one angle; otherwise it rolls off the chest. One more reason this gym is the worst.

Also, I just want to put it out there that I am officially a person who exercises again, and I LOVE it. Today is a rest day, so I'm feeling antsy. And I'm getting outrageously happy about being antsy because it means that lifting is the norm and resting is the exception rather than the other way around, which it was for MONTHS. Happy happy happy.

 

I also want to point out that yesterday I did six sets of three front squats at 125 pounds. Last week I did one set of 125x3 and wrote "Slowww grind on the last one." Progress!

Writing from my phone so can't post updates from the last few days. Just wanted to say that I made a DELICIOUS chicken curry with vegetables, cashews, pineapple and cauliflower "rice" for lunch yesterday - so easy and so good!

that sounds amazing! i made a crock pot coconut thai curry last week. i love easy curry recipes!

 

Also, I just want to put it out there that I am officially a person who exercises again, and I LOVE it. Today is a rest day, so I'm feeling antsy. And I'm getting outrageously happy about being antsy because it means that lifting is the norm and resting is the exception rather than the other way around, which it was for MONTHS. Recipe for future reference: Cut chicken into small pieces, cooked in a pot with coconut oil. Added curry paste and coconut milk, then a bag of frozen steamfresh stir fry veggies, chunks of pineapple and raw cashews. Cooked until I thought the veggies weren't frozen anymore. Put cauliflower florets in food processor, processed until "rice" sized, then sauteed in a bit of coconut oil as well. YUM.
