I like my crockpot cause you just throw everything in and leave it. Although - you could probably make a bunch of these and freeze them. Have you had these and/or made these??? If you bake them in the oven, they would be Whole30 approved. otter905 Posted January 9, 2014 Author Report Share Posted January 9, 2014 Completely un related to the challenge.One of my customers at work is in a band and they are playing is a bar very close to my house (like I could walk there). We haven't actually met each other, but talked on the phone a lot. I would like to go see them.. A) because he has personally invited me to his shows before and I couldn't make it and I am a true believer in supporting local talent as I have many aquaintances who are in music/comedy. The problem is my 2 closest friends can't go. I have a guy friend who would probably go, but he's the guy friend that always stands so close no one else will talk to either of us and always makes the stupid comments about everything. So, I'm not sure if I want to go with him or not. So, do I go by myself? and be the loner in the corner who doesn't drink or eat anything at the pub, because I'm doing a Whole30 and won't be able to. How would it look to you if you saw a girl at the bar by herself? I've done it before, but it was for a UFC so the place was packed and no one really noticed me standing there by myself. I thought just typing this might help me come up with an answer, but it's not helping so.....Opinions? Thoughts? Am I just being a silly girl and over thinking this?? No one is going to look at you and say, "Gee, that person is so WEIRD because they aren't stuffing their face with nachos." Fixing things/house hold chores were part of a few challenges last year and it felt great to look around and see the things I had accomplished. And then move on to bigger jobs when you can. I'm a clean freak and I have to recommend starting with the worst room in the house. Then move to smaller projects. otter905 Posted January 10, 2014 Author Report Share Posted January 10, 2014 Last night I went to the library and picked up a NYC ballet workout dvd and a hoopnoticka dvd (this is supposed to be a mix of hoop dancing and belly dancing- haven't tried it yet.)I did 45min of the NYC ballet one. I'm not sure how much longer it went on for, but I was hungry and had worked out for 45min. I didn't break a sweat, but my abs were screaming while doing the floor exercises. I felt extrememly un-graceful, but a fun (have you ever giggled at yourself while working out?) I started thinking that crossfit is really more my thing, but it also got me thinking about my goals for this challenge. I purposely chose simplE goals so I wouldn't feel stressed/pushed to my limits. I wanted to focus on working out more than training (in the words of LostOne), so why was I stressing about getting in my walk/run? Why am I stressing about the fact I don't feel up to going to crossfit tonight? Well I'm not anymore. I have 2 fun dvds at home!! I shall be dancing my little heart out tonight and having fun! It was supposed to be hoop dancing (with a hulahoop) and belly dancing mixed, but it was really just a how to on using a hulahoop -anyways, I went through the lessons quickly to get to the dance section. But there was NO dance section. I then did a set of steup leg raises, lunges, jumping lunges, jumping squats and couple other things to raise my heart rate a little. So I guess that it is Sunday wherever you are which means that we all want to know what happened last night, one way or the other.Sorry, no internet at home.So I went! by myself. I went down at just after 11:00 because for some reason when I read 21:00 I thought 11:00, so I only got to see them play for about an hour. I went in and looked around and there weren't very many people there, so it was kinda hard to hide like I was hoping, but I grabbed a table and sat down. The bar had a big screen and played the end of the football game and then a hocky game, so I was able to watch that (and not make eye contact with many people). It was all I could do to not get up and leave when the singer was doing her "thanks for coming out" speech, but I stayed - cause I was gonna talk to the band, well the guy I "know" - but I chickened out at the last minute. As soon as they came off stage there were people around him that I'm guessing he knew, so I waited for the hockey game to end, thinking maybe there wouldn't be anyone around, but there were, then I went to the bathroom, to stall a bit and see, but there were still people around him and he was packing up his stuff, so I just left. One step forward, two steps back? Maybe - but I did go and sit by myself and go over that. I mean you can only take so many steps outside your comfort zone at a time right? One step at a time. Will you let him know that you went and saw him play?Funny you ask...I actually talked to him yesterday, he happened to call in (he's a roofer so I don't talk to him much in the winter months). He didn't mention it so neither did I. But I kept thinking, he keeps telling me that he thinks he could pick me out of a crowd, and by the end of the night, there were only about 15 of us left (another reason why I really wanted out of there). But anyways if he couldn't pick me out of 15 people....and he often speaks about his shows with me and he knows I live around the corner, but he didn't bring it up?....Anyways, it might just be we were both hoping the other would bring it up. It will come out in conversation eventually. UPDATE Goal #1 Whole 45 - 5 CONdoing well, one choice to put Ranch dressing on my salad so far everything else was good - even didn't eat any of the deep fried potatoes they put on my plate (after I told them not to) on Sunday breakfast. (I go out for breakfast with some friends every week after Church) Goal #2 work out 5 times a week - 2STR, 2DEX, 1STADid 6 workouts - 2 yoga, 1 run and some workout dvds. Didn't go to crossfit, but I'm ok with that, and my run on Sunday was AMAZING!!! It felt so good and the sun came out while I was running. Goal #3 2 crossfit goatsDidn't go to crossfit - so these were not worked on - well I did do some pushups at home. Goal #4 dusting/cleaning 3CHAdusting done - Thanks Terosx for the tip on using a sock - worked great!started cleaning my kitchen - this goal is being modified with a time limit - I cleaned for 2 hours, resulting in one entire wall and the oven getting cleaned. How many pushups are you able to do?I was doing it as part of a dvd I did - maybe about 20. I was doing girly pushups - trying to keep my form good and keep up with the video. So this challenge seems likes it's off to a rough start. Not that I'm not meeting my goals, I just don't FEEL like it. I know it's the worst excuse ever and some times you just have to push through it, but really, I just feel like crawling into bed each evening and hiding from the world. I don't want to work out, I really don't want to cook. I craved chocolate all last week and having been craving a hamburger all this week. Your body is just trying to normalize it's weight it's used to, try to power through it as well as you can. Good on ya for going out to the band! Getting the nerve to talk to them takes awhile, I used to be terribly shy about it but my best friend got me out of my shell (if she wants autographs she knows I'm ballsy enough to go get 'em).Keep your chin up! otter905 Posted January 16, 2014 Author Report Share Posted January 16, 2014 It's just unusual for them to last for so long, with the same craving. And usually when I crave a hamburger its because I really want the fries that go with them, but this time I just really wanted the burger, even considered ordering one and not eating the bun, but there would be bread crumbs and probably sugar in it. I'm gonna check to see if my bbq works and try making some myself this weekend. It's dark when I get home so it's to hard to bbq. Last night I was also craving going for a run. But by the time I got home from bible study it was 9. It was dark and snowing so I decided to try a new dvd I picked up that had ThaiChi and yoga on it. So like a good girl I started with the introduction. I did the breathing exercises for the Thai Chi and some sun salutations for the yoga and decided ok, I'm ready I'm gonna try the Thai Chi now and looked at the menu, but I had done it all. That was all there was to the video. How lame. So I did 15min of Billy Banks Bootcamp Rock Solid Abs (must be said like a tv announcer) just to feel like I did something (and it was now 9:45). But it dawned on me that this is exactly why so many people don't follow through. If I was just starting out and did this "yoga" video to make a change to my body/weight this video would most likely not make any change at all. I would see no differences. And yet it would be extrememly hard to keep up with Billy Banks just starting out. There's way to much false information out there. Looking back, I wonder how I was able to persevere through all of it. Hopefully the storm we are supposed to get tonight will hold off so I can go for a run - I really wish there was a crossfit class Thurs. evening, it would fit my schedule so much better. Theres still the ranger challenge to be done also.My brother invited me and my family out for dinner tomorrow night, which is awesome, but he hasn't said where we are going yet. I'm little worried that there won't be anything I can eat, but I can't turn it down. He works evenings, so I don't get to see him often.
