The Main Quest...

...Get Married!

This is happening on the 8th Feb 2014... 37 days to go!!!! Had my first 'wedding disaster' nightmare last night, so I'm starting to panic on a subconscious level to match the conscious panicking I'm doing! My goals are by default mostly going to be organisation etc, but... having gone completely off the rails with my diet and exercise over the Christmas period, I'm determined to get back in the swing of things...

Goals to achieve this:

1/ Get back to 90% Paleo. I've been 'gluten and milk free' continuously, but Paleo fell by the wayside. From today, I will eat good food and avoid poisonous things! (4 CON)

2/ Dance... lots. By lots I mean at least 3 times a week. It doesn't matter if its an organised class or a crazy half hour round the house... I just need to get my backside in motion.

3/ Relax. It's safe to say that the next 6 weeks are going to be stressful, so I need to make sure to take time out to relax. Whether that's go for a walk, meditate or have a long hot bath, I need to do something each day to try and unwind.

Life Quest...

Wedding Prep. This is progressing, but isn't as far a long as it should be. Still have a load of stuff to sort and less time to do it. So I need to get organised. It's time to write a list and work my way through it... and get the fiancee doing stuff too! As I type, the hen/stag do's are being organised, which is one less thing for me to worry about, but there is still decorations to be made, boleros to be finished, music playlists to be compiled, and a load of other things that I can't think of off the top of my head!

So... the life quest is in two parts: Write list. Do list.

Motivations...

I want to be happy and healthy when I walk down the aisle, and as dairy/gluten etc make me ill or cause horrid spots, these things will be avoided like the plague until the big day... and then afterwards so that I can be happy and healthy for my new husband (rather than the grumpy, must-eat-now, wretch I used to be if I didn't eat every couple of hours).

Starting stats:

Weight: 161.5lb

Bust: 37.5 (95cm)

Chest: 31.5 (80cm)

Waist: 31 (79cm)

Hips: 42 (107cm)

Thigh: 24.5 (62cm)

You definitely have big motivation coming up (your wedding!!) When I was getting ready for my sister's wedding a year and a half ago, I would try to help her relax about some things by reminding her that no one is going to remember the things that you are stressing out about (if they even notice at all!!)  Remember the why and don't get lost in the details.  Keep it simple: you're going to marry the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and be happy and healthy.  And if the things you stress about don't work towards that goal, they're not worth it.  I know....easier said than done!

Anyway, you're going to do great!

Welcome back. I expect you'll be taking a vacation from NF for a week or two month into it.

When you are panicing, you have to remind yourself, "one task at a time, and complete it".

(It's like me telling myself to watch the tennis ball and hit it.)

Worrying/panicing does not help but paying attention to the tasks on hand and chomping off things to do does help.

It's similar to weight loss in a sense, watching scale and worrying the weight does not help but eating right and moving body are the actions you can do and that helps the weight.

In any rate, you have a great motivation. Welcome back.

So, I'm still as unreliable as ever when it comes to posting on here... but wedding prep is finally taking the front row seat in my life (it probably should've been a priority for a while, so I wouldn't be in panic mode now but hey ho...) Started on the table decorations yesterday, with plenty of cat help from both my big cat Aries, and the new kitten Apollo... Still got a long way to go, but i can at least say 'I've started'. One bolero is nearly finished... just need to get around to sewing the button hole and putting some more gold braid on. The second is half done, but the third isn't even started! EEK!

My outfit on the other hand is coming along beautifully (even if I'd hoped it would be finished by now!) Got a fitting on saturday, with the whole outfit in the final material (up until now the corset has been in 'mock up' fabric, to get the fit right) so hopefully, this week will be final alterations and done!

Have been managing to eat 90% paleo this week, so that's a massive improvement over previous weeks, but I have this horrid cold that has settled into my chest and given me a nasty cough, so exercise is off the cards atm... I'm hoping it'll improve quickly as I've just paid upfront for the next block of belly dance classes, which start next week (I'm also contemplating adding a third class into my dance schedule - contemporary/bellydance fusion - so I'd be dancing three nights in a row... A part of me wants to say 'stuff it' and book them anyway, the other part likes spending time with my husband-to-be!)

I'm glad to see folks have found me again (Nephaisys, KingLeroy and Tateman I'm looking at you!) It's nice to have people know who you are when you reappear after a disappearing act ;)

Will try and upload some photos of wedding-y stuff later, and also try and scope out other peoples threads... I wont make any promises atm about my appearance on here, as everything else takes priority over NF, but I will be stopping in periodically!

I did it... I signed up for the extra class... Burlesque doesn't start back until the 20th, so I have next week with just two classes: 7.30-10pm Tuesday Contemporary/bellydance fusion, and 7.30-9.30 Wednesday Bellydance... If this doesn't get me fit, nothing will!

Had the ultimate come-uppance last night for sneaking a toffee out of the last of the christmas chocs... Had a crown break off and take half the tooth with it :( Just waiting for the dentisit's to open so I can get it looked at, not exactly how I planned on starting the day (and a financial cost I could really have done without this close to the wedding) And I had been so happy with the improvement in my teeth and gum health since giving up grains... just shows that some damage can't be repaired by diet alone

Tooth will cost about £200 to fix, which was really the last thing I needed right now... but oh well, that's life!

Had a dress fitting yesterday, and if I hadn't forgotten to take my boots with me, so she could've sorted the hem, I would've been able to collect it next time... But it's looking AMAZING!!! Cant wait to be able to wear it for more than a few minutes at a time :D

Bad news is, I'm still fighting this horrid cold, which has now settled into my lungs, making me cough like a chain-smokier and causing a sore throat and putting my back out... I feel crap...

Yesterday I managed to stick to mostly paleo, until dinner, when I had a winter fruit pavlova for desert... It tasted devine, and as I've not experienced any side effects from the cream yet, I refuse to feel guilty about it! And we walked around Lincoln quite a bit, including a walk up and down Steep Hill (which REALLY lives up to its name!) so I at least got some exercise in...

Apollo had an appointment in the morning yesterday at the vets, for blood tests and his first jabs... needless to say he was not a happy kitten when we got home. But the blood tests were clear, and the vet says he's in great health (the cheeky bugger asked if he could keep him!) and when we got back from Lincoln he spent two hours sleeping on my lap, so I assume I'm forgiven! He's currently playing in my fiancee's medieval kit, although personally I wont touch the gambeson with a barge pole, the kitten thinks its amazing!

Well, I better get on with work... have a 10 1/2 hour day today, so will try and get some sewing done when things get quiet, but its safe to say I wont be getting much exercise done (I may try and do a bit of hula hooping, or push-ups, or something, just to get my ass off the sofa)

Keeping busy isn't the problem atm... having time to get everything done is! And there is a constant countdown in the back of my mind, and a increasingly long list of things that need to be done (both wedding and general life stuff)... Just got reminded today that I need to get my passport changed into my married name before we can go on honeymoon... So thats now on my to-do list :P

Oh well... I'm starting to feel a bit better, not coughing all the time now, and generally feeling less blah. Which is good as I have 2 1/2 hours of dance tomorrow evening, which as I've not done any in about a month, will probably kill me...

I've got two of the bolero's nearly done... just a bit more gold braiding to sew on them, but the body is complete, button holes sewn and buttons attached... They could be worn as is, if I don't get any more done... Just the third one to do, which would be easier if the bridesmaid had sent me her measurements :P which I've been asking her for, for three months now... GRRRRR! If she doesn't get them to me this week, I refuse to stress over it, and she just wont get one...

Will try and get these two boleros finished tomorrow, and then Wednesday I'm having my hair done and my wedding hair trial... Which I'm really looking forward too. And around that I'll try and get some more of the table decorations done... Busy Busy Busy!

The honeymoon probably wont be for a couple of months... We want nice weather so will probably be going in May... Gives me more time to loose weight. Today has been a fairly quiet day so far, I have a Tesco delivery this afternoon, and then dancing this evening, which I'm really looking forward too. Although I have a feeling I'm going to hurt like hell tomorrow, having not done any dancing in over a month! I HATE the Christmas shut down :P

I'm trying to make time for myself (and yes, the dancing counts) but I'm also working like crazy to get stuff done, so that I can relax as much as possible the week of the wedding... So, in furtherance of that, I have attached clips to the four completed fascinators (I needed mine for the hair trial tomorrow) and I'm really going to try and finish one of the boleros today (although I start work again shortly, so I can't guarantee I'll get it done today).

That is just so adorable! My mom and I sewed the bride's maids dresses. .. and we made flower hair wreaths. (1980... ok? ). Making stuff for the wedding was stressful because of time, AND SO MUCH FUN! now I barely remember the stress, nut the fun makes me smile.

I pray that doing this part of the wedding will be kept in your heart as precious.

And your fascinator.... so adorable! We need more photos!

It's three weeks on Saturday! So not long to go now... I'm trying to think of what my next big goal will be, but I still cant get my mind past the whole 'Get Married' thing :P

Anyway... had my first contemporary bellydance fusion class last night... and oh my god do I hurt this morning! It was vicious... I haven't had to move my body like that in years, have bruises galore and I may have pulled something in my shoulder... but bloody hell was it fun!!! Cant wait for next weeks class now! Although I still have tonights bellydance technique and choreo class to get through... Tomorrow I will probably not want to move at all!

I'm also having my hair done and my wedding hair trial today, so I'm really excited about that! Can't wait to see what she comes up with for my hair... I do wish it was longer, but there's only so much growing it can do in a year :P And I'm sure it'll look fantastic whatever she does with it... (If I get one, I'll post a pic!)
