Gymnastics is the most useful hobby. Every single one of those athletes is aesthetic as fok. =D Plus, per my avatar, flipping is just such a pleasure. Haha.

Haha I guess useful for keeping up ones appearance, and flipping seems like it would be a lot of fun, but what kind of real world applications does it have?

I've seen fights prevented by flips. Haha. Completely serious.

But uhh... I dunno. What real world application does any physical pursuit outside of running, swimming, or strongman have? Powerlifting is my favorite thing to do outside of trick, but that's because it's fun. =) I don't know about you, but I move for fun before anything. ;) Being an overall better human machine is definitely a close second, but I'm in it for the euphoria of close friends accomplishing big goals, etc. =)

I usually judge a skill based on its usefulness in a zombie apocalypse. Being strong, great for bludgeoning zombies, running endurance, great for escaping zombies, bendyness....  ability to kick two zombies at once? Maybe.

Haha how did he prevent the fight, was the other guy was like "you can do crazy backflips? Nooooope." Also, 4 minutes into that video and i'm already dizzy, that guy is crazy.

Sorry to hear about the hip.  Ups and downs of life I suppose.

Catching up on your thread ... only 6 inches off the ground? You're close now. The hip tweak sucks though. i was about to recommend having someone put gentle pressure to help you down the extra bit this week, but if you're tweaked, then I wouldn't do it. I was sparring on Friday and felt my hip tweak as well, so I've been laying off it. It's something I'll keep working on next challenge.

Speaking of which, I think all your goals sound fun. I don't know how hard back walkovers are, (I have no upper body flexibility) but I do believe next challenge we're allowed to add another fitness side quest, so if you think it's a fairly easy goal, you could add it in as a sidequest. Or move stretching a sidequest since you're already so good at it.

Don't lose heart! Haha. Listen to your body and do all the research. You've got this shit handled already, now you're just dealing with the spicier unexpected things. ;D

Ha! Maybe, depending on the type of zombie. Dawn of the Dead zombies would just rush in and eat me, back walkover or not.

Also, that zombie dances pretty well for being dead. I guess it helps he looks like he hasn't had long to decompose.

Alrighty, last update post!

Last week I had a fantastic time, unfortunately it wasn't super active. I took Friday off work and left on a roadtrip to Fairbanks with a bunch of my friends to visit another friend we have who is working at the base up there. So pretty much I sat on my bum for 7 hours, though I had to stop and get out to walk a bit because my driving leg kept falling asleep. Then the next day we all went to Chena Hot Springs, which was fantastically relaxing, though the ice bar was closed which was a bit disappointing. Overall I kept pretty close to my goals, I made sure to stretch before bed every night and eat pretty well, but I missed my last workout day.

So, this leaves me with final grades of a B in both strength training and stretching, and an A in protein and bringing lunch to work.

I haven't been able to get as far into my splits as I was because of tweeking my hip last week, but I think for 6 weeks I did pretty well. I'll take a picture tonight at the gym, or at least attempt to take a selfie in the splits so I can document my progress.

I'm still batting around what to do for my next quest, but i'll definitely be doing one of my side quests as finishing up this splits goal.

Thanks everyone for following my progress and i'll see you guy next week!

It has been great following your challenge.  It may be hard to see from the inside, but you have really come a long way over the past six weeks.

Take care.

Thanks Erick!

I feel pretty good about my progress, it was fun to see the increase in weights and the slow limberingness of the splits.

My lifting changes:

Squats – bar to 35lbs + bar

Bench Presses - bar to 25lbs + bar

Bent-Over Rows (single arm) – 15lb to 40lb barbell

Overhead Barbell Presses – 35lb to 40lb

Stiff-Legged Deadlifts -35lbs to classic deadlifts 40lbs

Barbell Curls –30lb to 40lbs

Not huge increases, but I keep adding a little bit every time I can hit all my reps with perfect form, and it's a slow process but I feel good about it.
