Leithient
I've started a couple of challenges before this, and I think I failed in all of them because I am too much perfectionist and meticulous. Teros
What's your level of fitness prior to starting this challenge? If you work out 4+ times a week, then working out 6x a week is feasible. If you work out right now less than 3 times a week, it's going to be a huge hurdle forward. For your eating clean, are you following a whole 30-type of strictness? Link to comment
Leithient
Good, straight forward, carefully laid out targets. I like it Good luck! Thank you. I have experience failing with my targets, I hope I've learned something during previous challenges. Are all the essays due at the same time? Good luck with writing. That was never my strong suit in school. No, in fact, you gave me an idea. Organization! There are two deadlines. For the rest of subjects there are NO deadlines (June), but I have six more for the second semester, so I don't want to acumulate work. I'm going to try to work with two subjects per two weeks. Jan 7th - 17th: Aesthetic trends + History of the bookJan 18th - 31th: Informatic resources + Recurring themesFeb 1st - 16th: Digital publishing + History and fiction (I'll post it in the first post). If you work out right now less than 3 times a week, it's going to be a huge hurdle forward. For your eating clean, are you following a whole 30-type of strictness? I've been doing a lot of sport about two weeks ago, but now I feel like I have to start again. I'm taking it easy (tomorrow I'll run 2 km, and I run 12 km in November). For my eating clean I'm a bit lost because I am vegetarian (I eat eggs, and I don't have 'ethical' problems with dairy). No sweets, no refined carbs, no fried veggies, only cottage cheese and no more than 1/2 l of milk, more or less (I don't know if I could do it better). And, of course, eating ONLY when I have REAL hunger (this is going to be the hardest). You won't fell hunger (and over-eat), it will also part of a good nutrition plan for vegetarian. The most important meal IS breakfast. Smoothies with froozen fruits, spinash (easily absorbable iron source with the C vitamin of the fruits) and something like chia or an other grain will kickstart your morning and believe me you won't fell the need to eat before lunch time Don't forget to take your protein source from different things (but since you takes eggs that shouldn't be a problem). If so: http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/whattoeat/a/highproteinfood.htm scroll down a little. Thank you! I tend to forget that beans are a great source and a middle way between paleo and grains. In deed, this is the real reason why I'm lost. I know that paleo is the best and healthy way to eat, but I am vegetarian for ethical reasons, so I can't avoid grains. The solution: beans, I can avoid grains if I use beans. Thank you again, you reminded me this. I love to find someone else keepin' it simple! I don't know if there is any way to feel good enough to fit into the gym clothes and get out to do my workouts, but I don't know it and I can't. Well, at least I think I found my main motivation to this challenge: be comfortable with my body. I can try tomorrow morning after the running workout (maybe I get enough endorphins), but I know that the key is at the kitchen, so I have to be constant eating well, and maybe it will make me feel better after all. Stay focused on your goals - you can make your dreams a reality! Knowing your motivation is an important and powerful thing and it can help you get past the difficult times. I hope your run will help you get into the gym. I struggle with how I look and how out of shape I am, too. I just have to remind myself to deal with right now and not let the past determine my future. All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible. ~T. Stag
No one cares nearly as much about your appearance as you do. Really, people as a whole tend to be so self-focused that we don't pay attention to other's appearances. But, let suppose someone at the gym notices you've put on weight. Then so be it, that's why people go to the gym, and they should respect your steps to better health. If anyone says anything negative, that person is a jerk. Period. Seriously, screw that hypothetical person. Side note, I don't know what you look like, but I know people of all shapes and sizes are beautiful. Society puts a lot of pressure on us to conform to unrealistic standards of beauty. If your body is one that allows you to do the things you want with ease, and you feel and check out at the doctor as healthy, then your body is perfect. See if you can re-frame the body shame you are feeling into a sort of pride and determinism that you are taking steps to improve you athleticism and reduce your risk for future health problems. Its taken me a large amount of time to unbrainwash myself and be able to adopt this not body-centric view of health. Feelings like that are so hard. No one at the gym cares what you look like. They are there for the same reason you are: to get healthier. And they are (hopefully) concentrating on them. I know I always feel self conscious at a gym, but I also logically know that I pay no one else's physical shape mind. I mean if anything I feel RESPECT for people who are out of shape and working to change it. It is hard to do. Pixie Warrior I aim to misbehave My NF Character, My Current Challenge Link to comment
