I thought Team Genesis was a good name for a fresh start - New Year, New Challenge!

 

While hopefully all our team members will support each other on their respective threads, this can be a place to come together to discuss any issues we're having, to support and inspire each other, and maybe for a little friendly competition. And a few good,  old-fashioned .gif parties!

Just checking in to say I am so sore. The front of my thighs are not yelling but SCREAMING at me. My CT-50 circuit will be fun tonight! But the pain reminds me every time I move how out of shape I am. It is actually pushing me to want to work out...go figure! Hope everyone is doing well with their challenges and happy hump day!

Kweb, I am totally feeling you today! My thighs are killing me too - 3 weeks off, plus many many squats on Monday equals a great deal of wincing every time I stand up or sit down. But class tonight will help work some of that out, as I'm sure your circuit will for you :)

 

I noticed many of the guild mini-challenges are about refining your goals - did anyone need to make some modifications?

I have decided to add doing the Zombies Run on my cardio days. I was only going to do it twice a week but found about a real zombie 5k run in April, so now I'm going to do it three times a week so I can finish the trainer in 8 weeks. The real race is in a little over 12 weeks away. This now means I will be working out six times a week. I'm happy and sacred about the prospect of that. Wish me luck!

Need some help! I'm meeting a co-worker tomorrow for lunch out and am stressing about it. I want to make sure I make good food choices, but I have no idea where she wants to eat. I was going to suggest a sit-down place so I could get a salad with some chicken or meat and veggies. Any support or suggestions would be helpful!  :nightmare:

Good luck! I admittedly am not the best with eating out, and it's hard to say without knowing where you're going.. except to say, yes, a sit-down place is more likely to have something decent. It's hard to go wrong with veggies + protein, even if you can't control what it's cooked/slathered in. If you avoid bread, potatoes and fried things, you're doing reasonably okay, at least!

Definitely a sit-down place. A salad, a steak, some chicken breast, a veggie side, a veggie side sampler - all good choices. If Asian, the steamed chicken option.

Text me if you need me - I'll be at a funeral for Chris' bosses' son, but should be out by lunch time.

@darkfoxx --- funeral? I hope this was not too sudden. Text me if you want to chat and thanks for the advice. This particular person is a bit flaky so I brought a healthy lunch just in case she backs out at the last min. I did not want to be left starving for the rest of the afternoon, b/c that is when I binge on the vending machine! Also did not want to face running out and settling for fast food, I have no fast food for a little over a week and would like to keep it that way! :)

Sorry about being MIA...I usually unplug for the weekends and I had a huge mess to deal with on Saturday (more in my daily log). I have attached a picture of the salad. I picked out most of the carrots and had no dressing. I only drank water with lemon, no soda. So overall not so bad! I guess I can go out and have a healthy meal.

The pic didn't post - and go you, learning a valuable lesson about being able to go out and eat a healthy meal - that's a big thing to come to terms with. :)

Have a question was going to post on my thread but decided to do it here to get more opinions. How does everyone feel about turkey bacon? I cook mine in the microwave, so there is no added oils or fat. My husband loves it and uses it as a in-between-meals snack. I like it too, but was wondering if there were better options. Thoughts???

I'll eat it if I'm desperate or it's being served to me, but I'd never buy it and don't generally order it off a menu. Doesn't fit with the whole eating minimally to completely unprocessed foods thing I'm going for. 

 

If I want bacon, I eat bacon - and I wouldn't just snack on it, but that's me. I do an ounce or two in something for dinner - and I either make my own, or buy a brand of thick cut that has a minimal amount of extra crap in it. No ingredients I can't identify.

 

This from Trader Joe's is my go-to bacon brand if I'm lazy (and I have been totally lazy for quite awhile). This is my favorite 'decadent' bacon - made with pork, water, salt, sugar & sodium nitrite and available at deli counters and butchers (or online).
