I'm with DF on this one - if you're going to eat bacon, just eat the real thing. But I also think turkey bacon has a weird texture, I guess it's a little different if you actually like it. But yeah, still processed...

Don't know if I'm coming down with something again, but missed my work out last night. Came home did some house stuff and then laid down for just a min. Next thing I know its morning. Hubby did not even wake me up when he came to bed. Thinking about doing the circuit before I run this afternoon. It is only 10 min long. Any thoughts on doubling up?

If you're up for it, go for it! 10 minutes isn't bad - and you're still in the early stages of the app, so you should be good to go. Don't kill yourself doing both; but if you're feeling froggy, leap.

Another group question....how is everybody measuring body fat or are you not? I have a scale that is suppose to do it, but I don't think it is working right. I found an online calculator where you put in a bunch of measurements and it does it for you. That percentage is closer to the pictures posted in the Nerd Rebellion thread on the subject and how my body looks. Just wanted to see how others measured, if at all. Thanks!

I use my FitBit scale + a set of cheapie calipers I got off of Amazon. I also plug my info in to I think 2 online calculators - and report all for some sort of average. 

 

I think the calipers are the most accurate out of that group.

What online calculators are you guys using? I admit, I haven't been tracking mine at all - I think my scale is supposed to be able to, but I never figured out how to do it, and had heard they were notoriously inaccurate.

 

Those calipers are seriously cheap.. I might have to find a few more things I need on Amazon to justify an order. Somehow I think I'll manage :P

I lied. I *was* using online thingies but gave them up for the calipers & FitBit. I used the one from the Navy - and I think one from self.com? Maybe?

Looks like I need to purchase some calipers. I did all my major measurements with a tape measure at the start of the challenge and my scale does calculate it, but I think it is way off. Maybe I get some calipers and see what they say just to have a comparison. Thanks everyone for your input!

Having a Crisis.....very blah, blah, blah today. Want to run to the store and eat ice cream and pizza and soda and wine and...and...and! I know that I'm doing better for my body but cannot see any changes in the past two and a half weeks. I actually feel like I look fatter, WTF! I don't know what brought this on. I have been so physiced and this community has been GREAT. Need a little push now.

 

PS Did not eat anything I was not suppose to and I got my workout in even with the blahs! But still don't feel that great before bed.

No. You know the magic fairy isn't going to come overnight and whop your body into the shape you want it to be - that shit takes work and dedication. 

 

Keep at it and learn to find joy in the process and you'll get there. Feeling like you're looking fatter - and even gaining weight - it's all part of the process. You've just got to stick with it and ride out the rough patches and you'll get where you need to go. 

 

Good going on not caving in and eating/drinking something that may feel good for 30 seconds but will ultimately make you feel worse - that shows mental growth, and the mental game is a big portion of this whole 'doing things your body actually needs and not what your id is telling you is a great idea at the time' thing.

I did not see the article but just ready it now. I do not know what came over me, I had been in such a positive frame of mind. I kinda of  followed the Braveheart technique last night. I got up out of bed, got in to my workout close and told myself that it was only a 9:00 min circuit (lots of planks). And that making up the workout today was not an option, because I have the dog training class (I will not get home until 8:00 -8:30) and a 34 min run.

 

I do feel better that I completed and I know that my body is not going to transform over night. Just having an off wonky day!

Those off days will happen, in fact, they seemed to be in the cards for yesterday! It's not even an indication that you're doing anything wrong, really. Motivation and enthusiasm just aren't going to be there 100% of the time, and it's forcing yourself to continue on anyways, plus falling back on the good habits we're trying to build here that will get you through.

 

The motivation and the good attitude always return eventually, and when they do, you'll be glad you didn't slack off when you felt like it!

 

Good job for pushing through it - those are the moments that really count!

Another question (I feel like I'm maybe asking too many). My CT-50 workouts are organized in to Levels, with 10 Workouts in a Level (5 Levels total). Workout 10 is a 20:00 min circuit where there are seven exercises repeated for 4 rounds. You give yourself  1 point for each exercise you perform in the circuit. If you get a 400 or better you move on to the next level, if not you restart with Workout 1 of the current Level. For me this would be Level 1 Workout 1.

 

After all that on to my question: I reach Workout 10 on Monday, I think I can get a 400, but it might kill me. I also know that I can do most of the exercises outlined in Level 1, but am still weak on some. Even if I get 400 I'm thinking about restarting Level 1 anyhow until I'm 100% on all the exercises. This program builds on itself in Level 2 the workout time and exercises get more complex and require more balance and stamina. Thoughts?
