Bounces happen - but when they do, we (all, myself included) need to remember that nothing is going to fix that but figuring out the cause (and it sounds like you've got a good idea), addressing the issue, and buckling down. 

 

I know you've mentioned wanting to do Whole30 in the past - maybe now is the time? I really think you'd benefit from the structure and the mental adjustment W30 aims to necessitate. That, and it's a good way to ensure your food habits will remain locked down long enough to see some sort of result. 

 

I'd suggest looking at getting back into an actual workout schedule, too. I know you're not generally one for 'I'm going to do x number of x time videos or go to the gym for x amount of time' kind of worker-outer, but giving it a switchup might help. 

 

And support is totally what we're here for - you don't have to shoulder that drama alone. We are here to encourage and pants kick as necessary - the NF community only works as long as people are participating.

I'm so glad you're here, talking about it, instead of taking a break from NF!

 

And I know how you feel - it's like, you've cleaned up your diet so much, and are working out, and everything is better than before, why isn't this working!? Did you read Steve's recent-ish article about plateaus? I really thought it hit home, and contained a good reminder to really be honest with yourself: if the perceived effort doesn't match up with the actual effort, then... well, you're not going to see those results.

 

I know you've been doing great lately with staying away from the biscuits and what not, but what other things are sneaking in? Remember that your health is more important than the fleeting interaction of turning down someone else's food!

 

I have to second the suggestion to give Whole30 a try. It's the only thing that has worked for me so far to actually lock down my diet and not cheat, and I feel great for it. Plus, it's a built in excuse - especially if you frame it as a way to figure out your food intolerances - no one in their right mind is going to take offence to that, or want you to mess up your results. And while I can't deny that there have been difficult days, overall it has been much easier than I thought it would be.

 

The other thing too is, that you ARE ABSOLUTELY 100% building better habits. They will support that weight loss you're looking for, once they build up enough, I suspect you just haven't quite crossed that threshold yet. But just because your scale says there's no change, doesn't mean you haven't changed! Whole30 is kind of like a cheat code to get there sooner though. *goes to find that one cartoon that so eloquently displays what I'm trying to say here...*

Hey accountabilibuddies, I just jumped on NF a little down feeling disappointed that the small weight loss I had seen for a few days has now bounced back up to my stagnate weight. I can really take to heart the little 'talk' you're giving to kweber I really get guilted into eating that dinner someone has cooked or the treat someone provides and in reality they don't really attach any significance to it and I just need to be firm with myself and let people know what my goals are and ask them for help. I feel like I'm on a treadmill going nowhere when I really want to climb a mountain. I'm putting in a perceived amount of effort and not going anywhere at all. Usually when I feel like this I 'go quite' because I get so frustrated with my complete lack of progress but this is when I should be asking for help - or a kick up the pants. Been MIA it was our anniversary weekend! I'm right there with you on eating because I think I have too. My family has centered their lives and get-togethers around unhealthy foods. I often feel bad about telling them I'm eating healthy. Currently I have just had to cut back on the amount of time I eat with them. I can still spend time with them, I just eat first (something I can control). At work I just tell people no thanks! What has worked is NF and setting a goal...like the 5K I'm doing in April. I can't eat this or I have to get my run in because I want to be prepared to run in April. Eventually that will just be life and having to make excuses will fall by the wayside. This past six weeks has proven to me that I CAN do this. And its not that hard either. I CAN eat healthy, I CAN exercise on a regular bias, and I CAN still be happy. Actually, I AM happier! I have seen the weight loss in this past challenge but I have worked my butt off to get there, plus I set realistic goals. I'm not going to loose all I want in six weeks, but I can start and each six weeks I can build on the last. 

 

P.S. I'm horrible about asking for help. I hate to disappoint people, but this community has been great! Whenever I'm slipping or having a bad day, I can get on the community and share about it. Most times people have been there or are there now. That helps me out a lot, not having to go it alone.

That's so great to hear! It sounds like you're gotten a lot out of this challenge :)

And that's exactly the reason I'm still here after a year... There's just no place like this one for motivation, support, and the occasional ass kicking :)

No Cheeseburgers!

 

I will have you know that I have not had ANY fast food in seven weeks. I actually sat in a McDonalds on Saturday and watched everyone else eat a greasy breakfast. I did not want the upset stomach on a beach walk (pictures coming).
