The Swampling Ups Chins and Turkish Gets

Swampling

Recommended Posts

Good morning, friends! :)

Workout so far:

- warm up

- walk the plank 8-8-7-7-7

- side planks 2 x 2 x 30 sec

- W&W mobility

I waffled around a bit before starting the workout, because my shoulders are still pretty sore from yesterday. But the negative chin-up practice turned out far better than I had anticipated. Now I feel kind of silly for being such a wuss so apprehensive before. :redface-new:

I also called my PT and  got an appointment for Thursday. Hopefully he'll find a way to get that left knee better, so I won't have a rerun of what happened with the right one.

TGU practice later today, maybe I'll also be able to go to my first yoga class of this year. Depending on what else Tuesday has in store for me. :)

Have a successful day, everyone!

:triumphant: :triumphant: :triumphant:

Nice swampling! Very, very nice indeed!  :triumphant: :triumphant: :triumphant:

Thank you, guys!

I'll admit, I still hate the whole tracking thing, and I already wonder when I can stop... *blush* I hope it will get a bit easier with time. The more I track the more I can hopefully re-use my meal entries, considering that I tend to eat the same stuff over and over again, especially for breakfast and dinner.

Yeah, once I stopped tracking back when I did weightwatchers, it became a huge chore to start doing again.  It's one of the reasons paleo/whole30 works for me.

For the time being, I mainly track to find out how much of what I am eating at the moment. I'm not trying to change too much, because I think my diet has already improved a lot since last summer. I want to get a baseline and see if there are some trouble spots I should address in the future (sugar? processed foods? too much fat? too many kcals? too few?).

I would like to do a whole 30, although it would need a bit more planning and preparation than what I could do for this challenge. But it's definitely on my list!

btw: I'm also ex-WW (it's been a couple of years) - and I hated the tracking then, too. :D

I do not really track my food, I may remember what I've eaten and look up calories or protein or carb counts, but actively tracking and recording my food I do not do...although I probably should, just so I know how much I'm eating...

I did edit my first post and adjusted goals #1 and #2 for the adventurer's first mini quest (and also because I needed to).

- "Best laid plans of mice."

- "And men."

- "What?"

- "Best laid plans of mice and men."

- "Oh. No, I don't think men had much to do with it."

I didn't track either, for a looong time now.

I'm just curious, because I know that I eat a lot better now than I have in the past years (no more whole cartons of cookies or several bars of chocolate per day), but I have lost any kind of reference as to "normal" portion sizes.

I will admit I hate the tracking. It's an PITA. But extremely useful. (nodding)

But it does get easier, just takes some time.  ^_^

Aaaaaand, that would also be one of the reasons I eat a lot of the same things. :nevreness:  (lol)

No TGU practice today, but my food tracking is already done. I know what I'm going to eat for dinner, and I already put the numbers into MFP. So there.

Take that, day #2!

YEAH! Way to stick it to day 2! :tyrannosaurus:  :triumphant:

I go by hand/palm sizes to see 'normal'.  Keep in mind that normal for some people isn't normal for other.  It's hard to determine 'normal' unless you're using the actual serving amounts guidelines.

Good point!

You know I waffle between insulting day two and trying to be friends.  I am glad you found the groove.  I have foods that I come back to regularly for sure and it makes tracking a lot easier.  Fruits for CHO, Peanut Butter for FAT, and grilled chicken breast or whey for PRO, rinse and repeat.  Way to start this one of strong!

Good morning! :)

Workout this morning:

- warm up

- 4 x 6 inverted rows, legs slightly bent, with 1 sec pauses

- 1 x 6 one-and-a-half-legged squats each side (down on both legs, up on one), slightly below parallel

- 3 x 12 two-legged squats, slightly below parallel

- 4 x 6 pike push-ups, 1 sec pauses

- 4 x 6 one-legged warriors, 1 phone book held overhead, 2 sec pauses

I must have done something right last night, because my left knee isn't hurting currently, and while there is still friction, it isn't as vocal about it as yesterday. I modified today's squats to keep it that way.

At the moment I'm slightly optimistic that, with the help of my PT, this problem can be fixed (and quicker than in a year's time). Still keeping my fingers crossed.

Have a great Wednesday, everyone! :triumphant:

Good luck with your left knee. I also have a mild one, and I know what it is. (Took an xray while back).

Hope it's not too bad.

knees, so fragile, so needed, I know how you feel about em, my right knee is a little bum and grinds, get stiff, and aches, but since I started working out again, it hasn't been achy, and only crackles every once in awhile (although it still clicks on every stair lol) congrats on yours not currently hurting best of luck to you!

I got that click in my right knee first, and I really felt like the crocodile in Peter Pan, after eating Captain Hook's hand with the clock... *tick... tick... tick...* on every other stair.

Although the right click is actually much milder than the new one in my left knee. I feel so stupid, going up stairs and clicking now on EVERY stair. *TICK tick TICK tick TICK tick* (Sounds a bit like that croc on speed?!)

While the clicking might just be annoying, I hate it that after a time the knee starts hurting from the friction under the kneecap. That's bothering me much more. I hate looking at stairs with dread, because I know the way up will be increasingly uncomfortable. I really don't want to go there again.

I also can't sneak up on the FC anymore, because he can hear me coming when I'm still a mile away... :(

Two-legged squats don't seem so bad (very little friction, and not always noisy), but when the knee has to take my full weight (as in walking up stairs) the problem is still there in full force. Grrrrrrrrrr.

How'd you get yours? mine was traumatic (as in physical injury caused it, not hold yourself in the shower on hottest crying trauma), I was at the movies turned funny and partially dislocated my knee....and fell but not like cool or gracefully, like my whole body just went limp with my dislocated knee just giving up slumping down to the ground falling, my friends laughed and I said "I can't move my right leg I may need to go to the hospital" we went...after the movie lol by that point the knee had mostly reset itself and the doctors just gave me a knee brace to wear for a couple days and said I might develop problems in a few years...they were right

Sounds lovely... NOT! :nightmare:

Mine are nothing so dramatic, sorry to disappoint. ;)

The left one probably happened shortly before Christmas, when I was playing with the little boy of friends, when my pirate ship was boarded and I got dragged from the boat. I must have bumped that kneecap pretty hard, landing on the floor... At least that's the only thing that comes to mind what could have caused the problem.

It was fine when we got back from our walk before lunch that day (otherwise I would have noticed on those three flights of stairs ), but the friction and cracking was there in the evening when I was back home. So at least I think it must have been something that happened in that time frame, and the keelhauling is the only thing that comes to mind.

The problem in my right knee crept up gradually over the course of months (or probably years). It must have been a muscle imbalance  that gradually pulled the kneecap out of alignment until the friction got so bad that walking uphill (or up some stairs) would hurt.

It took about a year of PT to get rid of most of the imbalance, build the correct muscles up again, stretch some others etc. to allow the kneecap to get back to its normal position.

The only real trauma that ever happened to that right knee was when I fell off a horse 20 years ago and pulled pretty much all ligaments in and around my knee joint (nothing was really kaput, only overstretched). But since the right knee turned into a problem only recently (as in 2 years ago), I don't really think it's related.
