Tkal
This challenge will be almost a replay of the previous one for me. During this challenge I will have a 2 weeks vacation which I will spend skiing, hiking and visiting my parents and family. I want to keep the daily practice also those time, but if instead of doing my kata I end up rolling on the floor with the kids, I will consider my deal done for the day (both handstand and kata). Daily rain The only part where I succeeded was the daily kata practice, which I will make "more difficult" this round. This time I am raising the bar to 5 kata or 10 minutes of single techniques (or short combinations) practice + 2 CON, + 2 DEX, + 2 STA The roots in the sky Same as previous challenge, every day I am dedicating 5-10 minutes to handstand + 2 DEX, + 1 STR Seeds I am re-adjusting the teaching side of this challenge: it should depend only on me if I can succeed or not, not on my students. I am reserving 30 minutes 4 times each week (but the 2 when I am on vacation). If nobody show up I have the books of Trias Sensei (founder of Shuri ryu) to read, to strengthen my knowledge of the theory behind the stile + 2 CHA, + 1 DEX, +1 WIS Changing leaves (life quest) Last time I failed in getting in touch with a local lawyer, so here it is +2 WIS As last time, there is a spreadsheet for me to track my activities Tkal, level 8 Dwarf assassin playing with the monksSTR 13.5 | DEX 19.25 | STA 16 | CON 18.75 | WIS 18 | CHA 14.5My walls (aka: random log) | Intro | Challenge 1 with tracker | Aborted Challenge 2 | "Real" challenge 2 | Challenge 3Challenge 4 | (never started)Challenge 5 | (super short) Challenge 5 | (third is a charm) Challenge 5 | Challenge 6Challenge 7 | Challenge 8 "Patience you must learn" Link to comment
Kishi
Good to see you here again and good luck. If you don't mind me asking, what are you going to do with the repeat goals that's going to make them different from last time? Is there a better way to execute that can improve your chances of success? 1 Work like a farmer, train like an athlete, fight like a soldier. 2 Tim. 2:3-6 BATTLE! Link to comment

Is there a better way to execute that can improve your chances of success? The main problem was a bronchitis which put me down one week and left me with a bad cough until past Christmas. The handstand practice was impossible. So I am including GMB exercises this time that are a bit more flexible than "stay upside-down for a minute". For the teaching part I was relying too much on the others to be there. But I mentioned that already. I asked a friend to help me with the legal stuff, since he is much more into it than me. I have my "homework" to do, then we are going through it together when I am back from my holiday Tkal, level 8 Dwarf assassin playing with the monksSTR 13.5 | DEX 19.25 | STA 16 | CON 18.75 | WIS 18 | CHA 14.5My walls (aka: random log) | Intro | Challenge 1 with tracker | Aborted Challenge 2 | "Real" challenge 2 | Challenge 3Challenge 4 | (never started)Challenge 5 | (super short) Challenge 5 | (third is a charm) Challenge 5 | Challenge 6Challenge 7 | Challenge 8 "Patience you must learn" Link to comment

Tkal
Mm. So it comes down to avoiding sickness and such like that, which means lots o' sleep in addition to everything else. Hmm. Sickness was the root cause, but I know there isn't much I can do about it (and sleep is not an issue for me ). Having a backup plan, on the other hand, is more under mine control. So, GMB is my plan B for the handstand, which was the part most hampered by my cough Tkal, level 8 Dwarf assassin playing with the monksSTR 13.5 | DEX 19.25 | STA 16 | CON 18.75 | WIS 18 | CHA 14.5My walls (aka: random log) | Intro | Challenge 1 with tracker | Aborted Challenge 2 | "Real" challenge 2 | Challenge 3Challenge 4 | (never started)Challenge 5 | (super short) Challenge 5 | (third is a charm) Challenge 5 | Challenge 6Challenge 7 | Challenge 8 "Patience you must learn" Link to comment

Tkal
During last challenge I had to ask my boss to assign me a different job, so now I am back working full time as software engineer. Kishi
Eh. Given that the norm is to sit around, grow fat, and accept our mortality, do you really want people to look at you as 'normal'? At least in that regard. I can appreciate the desire for normalcy in terms of your transformation, but there are some ways in which it is good to stay weird. Given that the norm is to sit around, grow fat, and accept our mortality, do you really want people to look at you as 'normal'?Absolutely not! Ok, my tone didn't pass, it seems. It was more like "yea! people are gimme me strange looks! I am really part of the rebellion then!" So yes, weird is good I can appreciate the desire for normalcy in terms of your transformation, but there are some ways in which it is good to stay weird. Actually I have no desire of going stealth and disappear in the crowd if that means again not being myself Normality is overrated. Tkal
So, no love for 'goto'? What language do you use?The problem is not the language. It's the 40M (given or taken) lines of code, with plenty of legacy and other nice "features" that you find in basements and caves where nobody dares to go since the 20th century. Tkal
Glorious training Saturday. Two hours of cleaning small details on hips positions followed by two hours of close distance/full force techniques (against pillows ). By the end my arms and legs were jelly-like, and I was completely out of breath during the final sparring rounds: I definitely need to work on my conditions. Tkal
Please tell me you didn't spar the poor pillows. Seriously, tho. Good to hear things went well!Just a language problem. I meant something like this (probably a bit bigger and heavier)And yes, we sparred them. Also the one with the pad could attack, not necessarily using the pad. It remember me a bit of when I was doing HEMA, but elbows/fists against pad instead of (blunt) sword against shield. We collected pieces of foam and rubber afterwards... 2 Tkal, level 8 Dwarf assassin playing with the monksSTR 13.5 | DEX 19.25 | STA 16 | CON 18.75 | WIS 18 | CHA 14.5My walls (aka: random log) | Intro | Challenge 1 with tracker | Aborted Challenge 2 | "Real" challenge 2 | Challenge 3Challenge 4 | (never started)Challenge 5 | (super short) Challenge 5 | (third is a charm) Challenge 5 | Challenge 6Challenge 7 | Challenge 8 "Patience you must learn" Link to comment
Tkal
Need to be much more careful when working on pressure points. It seems I have a really low sensistivity. Tkal
Back. The holiday was great, the snow perfect, my nephew even more playful than usual. So I had my daily dose of good sweat On the down side, I skipped a lot of "regular" training sessions. For the handstand I am hitting a mental plateau. Mental in the sense that is getting harder and harder to force myself upside-down. I am loosing motivation there (hence progression, hence motivation and so on). I need to find the right hard cap there, since it is not fun nor pleasurable anymore. Tomorrow training with my student. Already time for Tkal, level 8 Dwarf assassin playing with the monksSTR 13.5 | DEX 19.25 | STA 16 | CON 18.75 | WIS 18 | CHA 14.5My walls (aka: random log) | Intro | Challenge 1 with tracker | Aborted Challenge 2 | "Real" challenge 2 | Challenge 3Challenge 4 | (never started)Challenge 5 | (super short) Challenge 5 | (third is a charm) Challenge 5 | Challenge 6Challenge 7 | Challenge 8 "Patience you must learn" Link to comment
Kishi
Glad to see you back. Unfortunately, it's in those 'plateau' moments that you actually generate your progress, because of the fact that you put on your hard hat and go to work. Grinding through them is generally one of the only ways I know to get progress. Are there other upside-down things you could practice alongside to spice it up again?
