Strong, wise, persistent and cleareyed enough to see your own beauty. Fantastic!

Thanks!  It's been a challenging and long-winding road to get here - but every misstep and mistake was a lesson to help me be a better version of myself.  :)

WEEK 4 GRADES

Yoga = A or B (I can't decide what to give myself, because I only did three days of yoga, but two of those days were extra long sessions...)

Misc Activity = A (Finally finding my rhythm with the treadmill again.  I was super excited on Wednesday, because even though I only walked - I achieved 600 vertical feet!!)

Foam Roll = A

Vitamins = A

Treats = A

I've already begun to think about my goals for the next challenge.  I probably won't have as many smaller goals, but possibly make the goals I do create a little more challenging.  20 minutes of yoga isn't nearly as hard for me as it used to be, so that definitely needs to be adjusted.  Perhaps I'm ready to go from beginner to intermediate!  That's an exciting thought! :excitement:

I'm also thinking about goals for the next challenge! I guess you can tell it's a successful challenge when you're thinking that far in advance =P

Looks like you're doing amazing.  I would definitely do more yoga, since it's doing so much for you!  The more challenging poses are also the ones that give you the biggest sense of accomplishment.

Okay, so before I get to my grades for last week, I just want to say that I've been transitioning my goals a bit.  Since I was finding that only 20 minutes on the treadmill or 20 minutes of yoga wasn't quite challenging me enough, I upped the times to go for no less than 30 minutes on the treadmill and 40 minutes of yoga.  That seems to be more challenging for the time being.  That being said, I only do one or the other (not both) during the week.  So my goal for last week and this week is to do 40 min of yoga on Mon, Wed, and Fri and 30 (+) on the treadmill Tue & Thur.  Another trade off is that I will be doing something active five days a week rather than 4, so I'm giving myself A grades since I didn't have a rest day in the middle of the week.  :frog:

I tried an "intermediate" level yoga video this past week, and it really kicked my butt in a good way!  It will be interesting to see how long it takes before I'm not cussing under my breath to the instructors in the video!  Haha!

My biggest downfall this past week was sweets.  I became possessed with the need for chocolate!!  I could hardly control myself!  One positive thing was that I bought a chocolate bar, but resisted to only eating half one day and half the next.  Then I moved on to the dark chocolate because it makes me feel slightly less guilty.  This week should be much better as far as the chocolate cravings.

WEEK 5 GRADES

Yoga = A

Misc Activity = A

Foam Roll = A

Vitamins = A

Treats = C

One more week, then it's onto the next challenge!  :D

Chocolate is my weakness too, I've been bad for like a week but it's a drop in the bucket compared to being healthy the rest of the time =)

Total truth!!  I may have indulged a bit too much last week, but I think I still did better than I have in the past when I mindlessly ate everything in sight.  I was very aware of it and I got right back on track this week!

Hope you rock your last week!  I plan to!  :triumphant:

"Most people think they’ll feel good once they reach some goal. By linking happiness to something you don’t have yet, you denying yourself the power to create it in the moment. Your happiness is your birth right. It shouldn’t depend on you ACHIEVING something. Start by claiming it and using it to make your journey fun all the way and not just at the end." S.Chandler

Well, another challenge is under my belt and it feels amazing!  I'm really proud of my progress this time as I'm beginning to feel like exercise is just as much a part of my day as showering or brushing my teeth.  Some days, I really look forward to it, but there are some days when it's the last thing in the world I want to do.  I've come to realize that the less I feel like exercising, the more I really need it.

The weather is getting a bit warmer (for now...), and it makes me want to come out of my shell and enjoy it!  Spring is so close!!!   :butterfly:

Anyway - here are my grades for week 6:

WEEK 6 GRADES

Yoga = A

Misc Activity = A

Foam Roll = A

Vitamins = A

Treats = A

FINAL GRADES!!

Yoga = B+

Misc Activity = B+

Foam Roll = A-

Vitamins = A

Treats = B+

Shortly after this challenge started, I managed to get a lung infection and didn't get off to a great start.  I took a major setback with running, but after I was well, I starting plugging away again.  In the past, I probably would have used that setback as an excuse to give up.  But...life isn't predictable.  Setbacks are inevitable.  I just have to do what I can and hope I get better - no matter how long it takes.

So now, I'm off to start working on my goals for the next challenge.  And I'm feeling the need to go do some yoga before bed.  I can't say this enough, but yoga has helped me in ways that nothing else ever has!  Quick story before I sign out:

In 2001, I sustained a mild brain and an acute back injury in an auto accident where I was rear-ended.  After years of physical therapy, chiropractic, and pain meds, I was told by a physician (and I quote), "Stephanie, you will be in pain the rest of your life, and the sooner you learn to accept that fact - the better off you'll be."  I was in my mid-twenties.  It broke my heart.  It made me angry.  I just sort of gave up at that point.  Enter Nerd Fitness.  I rediscovered my love for yoga and now I'm doing it more and more...with less and less pain!  I still have days where my back cramps up, but yoga helps to alleviate the pain and I can't imagine where I'd be now without it.

And with that - I'm off.  Thanks for listening, and thanks for all your support that has helped me stick with the program!

Until next week...
