weirdquark
But I finish a meal and then I'm hungry in about an hour. I mean tummy growling hungry. That's messed up. Yeah, it is. Sounds non-sustainable, but I guess if you're just trying to drop a bit of weight you'll be able to stop and switch to maintenance, doing it for a while isn't too bad. Does coach have thoughts on tweaking things so that it'll still do what you want without being hungry all of the time? I lift heavy things. AlexCold
I just want to say that deadlift picture is pretty hot. Sorry for the creepy comment but it had to be said. I've been trying to get the wife to lift for a while now, but I really want her to do it now. Glad to hear that you're realizing you can still lose weight and eat a bunch. You do supplement with protein powder right? Also fish, while they taste awesome, are the suckage for getting enough protein. The other night I had about half a salmon slab and then still ate another 11 oz of steak to get anywhere. Tho protein is never hard for me to get, it's the dang carbs I have trouble with. I enjoy that your diet is so similar to mine these days, because if it can fuel cline's badassness than certainly it can handle my workout capacity. Also, fishies are tasty -- more folks should eat them. That is all. It's CRAZY! It's soooo much food. I don't miss the fat at all. I use a little now and then for cooking but not much. Except for being hungry all the time, I still feel just fine. and I might have a big more energy but I'm not really sure. stupid sweet potatoes. I love all the fishies but they are TOO SMALL! Cows and pigs are a nice size but stupid fishies... Sigh. I have to eat a gazillion fishies. I have sweet potatoes bigger than fish. That's just wrong. I love all the fishies and yeah people should eat way more fish. I just stick a pan in the oven with some seasoning and call it a day. Easy peasy. Yeah, it is. Does coach have thoughts on tweaking things so that it'll still do what you want without being hungry all of the time? well, it's really not unsustainable. Just a lot of work. weighing and measuring... all the cooking.... BUT it's okay. I have figured out I put my 2 add'l meals in one container and my lunch in another and all 3 meals worth of sweet potatoes in one container so then I only take 3 pretty decent sized containers instead of 10,000 containers. I just let it all sit at my desk. (newsflash: food won't spoil sitting at your desk) I don't know what happens for maintenance. I just want to say that deadlift picture is pretty hot. Sorry for the creepy comment but it had to be said. I've been trying to get the wife to lift for a while now, but I really want her to do it now. wow. thanks. It's not creepy. (and I'm trying very hard to not write something self disparaging so I'm going to move to the next quote and just say thank you and mean it bc I think it was really nice of you to say and I do really appreciate it) Glad to hear that you're realizing you can still lose weight and eat a bunch. The other night I had about half a salmon slab and then still ate another 11 oz of steak to get anywhere. Tho protein is never hard for me to get, it's the dang carbs I have trouble with. I'm really surprised. Most surprising is that after a few days I stopped feeling full all the time and now I'm constantly hungry. I wouldn't even need to look at a clock to know 2 hours passed. Protein powder - yes. I checked with coach. One of my daily 10,000 meals is protein powder with added carbs. All measured. I mix only with water. It's also super clean protein. I told coach I just couldn't eat that much food. So this is a fair compromise. I use it after a workout b/c I don't eat until I get home and finish my zoo keeping - often not until 830-9p. Works out okay. And silly fishies.... so high in protein but so many must be eaten. I need to eat only lean protein right now so a lot of beef is out. But a lot is okay too. I just happen to not have any on hand. Tonight: I thaw the bison. Yes, I said that. There is nothing clinelier than eating bison. Except maybe jerky. But bison jerky is akin to the swole from shrugs. cline
So I'm really down several pounds. And no I didn't just pee it all out. sheesh. But I am really careful about what I'm eating. I mean super careful. I'm getting used to it. I'm not getting used to the constant hungries. That's really wierd. I don't necessarily feel better or worse. I am eating enough food. It's all planned out and I'm not eating on some big calorie deficit. If anything, I'm eating a lot more than I used to. I'm not eating crap for carbs which is really important. I'm also eating very high quality meat (which I have for several years now) and mostly locally sourced veg. I still eat tons of veg and still don't slather it in oil or butter (not a fan). The reality is this is not THAT different from how I was eating except it's more and more often and includes sweet potatoes (sole carb source other than what I add to protein drink). So this isn't some drastic diet. And with this... I announce: 1 I AM going the distance 'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. AlexCold
Yeah it's not hard to eat that much protein without protein powder, but it's much easier with it. I regularly go over on protein. I think your hunger comes from being a boss! I still eat a ton, and I don't get hungry to often! Fishies are good but they aren't filling for me. I could eat 1 or 2 whole salmon and still be hungry. mmmmm....bison. I could go for a burger right now. I just stick a pan in the oven with some seasoning and call it a day. Easy peasy. Catspaw's carb+protein fishcake recipe: - Equal weight cooked fish and cooked sweet potatoes (I usually do 1/2 lb each or 3/4s lb each). - Some sliced green onions - Many spices. I like cumin, salt, red pepper flakes and chili powder, or a good curry paste, but your mileage may vary. Mash together. Roll into balls and place on cookie sheet. Flatten into patties with your palm. Bake at 400 for ~30 mins. If you're feeling fancy, turn to broiler for the last 5-10 mins and brush with just a tiny bit of coconut oil. I like this because sometimes I used canned fish (super easy) or I just make a pot of water and stick a bunch of frozen tilapia in the water until it cooks and then drains (also super easy). cline
yesterday after eating 10,098 meals, I trained MUAY THAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE And I had to ride the bus there (it's a quasi sketchy 'hood) and my bus didn't take forever and I got there early so I could hang out and damn... life was freaking awesome! Mmmmmmm MUAY THAI! Spent time chatting w friend at the desk. I check in and he's asking about my elbow! Awwww so sweet. It's nice they remember and care. WELL turns out he's having elbow problems too! Yea! It's not an old person thing! So we talked a long time and we're going to try to talk coach into teaching a pad holding clinic b/c we think piss poor pad holding is contributing. Then, on to class! I partnered with Emilio. Awww bless his heart. I've never worked with him before. He's trained about 5 mos. He was reluctant to partner with a woman. Bwaaa haaa. whatever. Then during kick drills he kept saying he was old. Turns out we're only two years apart so I told him to suck it up and show up the young people. I think he almost passed out. He is not a good pad holder but he really tries. I had a really nice time and got a good class in. Class focused on foot work - moving just out of the pocket enough to evade but throwing punches at the same time. So you aren't backing up or moving away, just changing the angle and throwing punches at the same time which gives you a huge advantage. for like, one second. LOL. Then we also practiced that with body kicks. This was really good for me b/c it involves stepping out and changing the angle in the pocket and slamming a body kick. This is really good for me b/c I need foot work drills AND bouncing and kicking is harder on my ankle so stepping out is really great. One coach showed me this and I just don't practice enough. Always practice your weaknesses. We also practiced this sprawling. So you sprawl (kinda like a burpee) but as you come up, change angle and return 3 punches or a kick. whoosh. Fun!! Coach loved my sprawling to punches. YEA!!!!!!!!!!! Then, during our 5 min pad work round, we got to clinch up someone in a different pair. BWAAA HAA she couldn't get away. She couldn't move. She was hopeless. I haz a strong. Hilarious. Coach was really pleased. A bit of chatting after class w Emilio and friends. Turns out people puke a lot after class. WHAT? He puked when he started, my friends puked, etc. Someone puked on Monday. I have never puked. All the puke talk. Went home on different bus. The best part of the ride was two older Vietnamese men on the bus, chatting, etc. When they got off the bus, the one man said the driver "Thank you, my friend". The driver replied "My pleasure, sir". What a lovely exchange. How kind. I ALWAYS greet my driver and say thank you. ALWAYS. I thank everybody. Today's challenge for you: greet everyone you see and always say thank you. Cooked 10,000 meals for today including: Breakfast: chicken, egg whites, veg, applesauce (out of sweet pot)Meal 2: weighed tilapia, sw potatoesMeal 3: liverwurst, kale, sauerkraut (weighed)Meal 4: weighed shrimps and sw potMeal 5: pwoMeal 6: eating dinner out before the theater tonight. Most likely lean beef or fishies. We are going to a regular French place so I know what I can eat there. But training first! weirdquark
Woot! Deadlifts! Muay Thai! I don't greet everyone I see as I'm walking around (which is kind of funny because when I moved here I was told that it was a 'howdy' town and people would be offended if I didn't howdy them back. So I say hi when I get a howdy but otherwise mutually ignore the other people who are walking around.) But I do always say hello and thank you to people like bus drivers or the person taking my order or at the register. We are having an interaction! They are providing me with a service! And having worked in public service myself, you do appreciate the people who are polite and friendly to you and want to provide them with superior service than you do when you get the ones who are rude. 1 I lift heavy things.
