cline
woot! Day one of new diet down. Cornering up. awww yeah. Yea! Thanks!!! New diet is difficult to manage. Managing it well => success so I'll do it but I spent a ton of time getting organized this a.m. I'm so stoked about cornering. I sure hope this works out. All the blood! all the sweat!!! All the spit!!! I AM going the distance 'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. cline
and then I saw this: http://www.t-nation.com/training/weird-workouts-that-really-work I'm so doing the Moby thing today before I ride the bike. LOL. Omg... I'm going to do it (and try to not laugh). And burpee pullups? spousal unit does them in CF so I might do a round of that tonight. BUT I have two HUGE problems with the video in the link: 1) what the hell kind of non-burpee is that and2) what the hell kind of non-pullup is that? okay it's a chinup but not a pullup. And yeah they are easier when you jump. But okay still looks fun. Although, now that I think about it my elbow might explode. I shall try though. Librarian of Doom
Look forward to your report on Bring Sally Up. I so want to do it with light weight like 135... but I have to get coach okay for that so maybe the bar or just body weight today. I downloaded the song. LOL. Hilarious. next I'll do it with pushups. AWESOME. I won't blow my elbow out. Jumping pullups are easy peasy. but I need music for that too.... and if it hurts, I'll stop. Kan
Alright you've inspired me to modify my workout. Gonna see if I can sally squats and sally ups (pushups) today. Just for fun. I'm not even certain I'll be able to make the whole song. Then again it may be too easy :l Glad your elbow is better. Also, did the foot improve? °~° °¬° Link to comment
weirdquark
I found a video of Bring Sally Up squats a while back and it looked pretty impressive with weight; looked like only one woman managed to even come close to finishing properly in the one I found and everyone fell over when the song was over. So working up from bodyweight to having 135 on your back seems like a good idea. I lift heavy things. cline
Muay Thai!!! Worked guard defense for hooks and then the counter. So if someone throws a hook to your left/lead side, you return with left hook, cross, left hook, and then kicks or something. Same deal on right/rear side. So combos involved guard, punches, knees, kicks. It was fun and exhausting. One of my friends was my partner. She only partners w a couple of people bc she's a half asser and it drives me bonkers. And she really is a half asser. And she complains the whole class. And she hates getting hit and kicked. So I kicked and hit hard and fast. Lol. She also has never been to sparring but says she's doing the smoker. :-( I want to do the smoker. :-(Day 3 diet is a struggle and it's really effed up that it's a struggle. :-(Time for some book reading!!!!! jstanlick
Sounds like your friend is in for a serious wake up call if she actually shows up for the smoker. Never sparred?! Why would you do Muay Thai if you have a problem with hitting and kicking?!?!Also, don't know how I missed it, but I totally get the aging pet thing. Your cat and my dog are about the same age (he'll be 14 in June). It's tough watching them go from spry energetic pups and kitties to where they're at now in their lives. Wouldn't trade it for the world, but it's still tough. Curious about your new diet details, but if you don't want to share that's fine. I haz a sad about losing my Friday fasting buddy. Lol Yeah, I think air squats would be pretty easy for me too; I can sit at the bottom of those for way longer than three minutes (and then get up again). Holding a pause squat with significant weight on the bar is another story though. And I agree about push-ups. Even without holding the down position it's basically a three minute plank. That might be a good intermediate step actually, for anyone who has trouble with pushups-- going between a plank on your hands for the "up" position and switch to a plank held on your forearms for "down." I lift heavy things. Current Challenge Between Challenges Workout Log Sassafrass: a capella folk fantasy mythology Link to comment

cline
Yeah diet is hard. Spousal unit is moderately supportive but eating his own stuff so i have to make 2 breakfasts, etc. yesterday was a real challenge with the diet. I asked coach if I could whine and when I do if he would send me smart ass comments. He agreed. Yesterday:Me: (meal recap) This is hard and it's effed up that this is so hardHim: not as hard as the Bataan Death MarchMe: yes.... Ass kicking needed. Thank you.As for the woman sparring.... I don't know. She sees me as weak and broken so I think she wants to point out she's doing more than me and working harder. I dunno.... It's crazy. She also buys into this "bc of my size, I intimidate" mindset bc she's a lot bigger. But her skill is good technically on some punches but kicks and knees are terrible and she's really soft in execution and will only train w a couple of people, so no..... Not intimidating. I dunno. Makes me sad I'm not doing the smoker. And my old cat.... Sad. He's not supposed to be old. I made him promise. I AM going the distance 'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance.
