I AM going the distance

'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood.

You could always drink absinthe and really confuse people.

°~°

ewwww...

I don't really drink hard liquor.  Nerds found that out this weekend.  I'm a pretty simple gal.

Training recap:

lifted with nerds on Saturday

(did no cardio but diet was close to spot on)

Yesterday

work up to heavy squats for a few rep/sets

Heavy DLs for touch and go volumen (oof)

Heavy bench for volume

Assistance work

Ran 3 mi on the damned treadmill (which I truly loathe and cannot really run on properly)

Diet was close but hard with airport travel.

And this was said this weekend to another fighter chick nerd:

"I want to kick stuff.  All I need is a body.  Oh... there's Tin Man...."  LOL  Poor Tin Man.  He did not want to be kicked.  So, we did not kick him after all.

Surfacing to say that I didn't get to see much of the live stream, but it looked like you were having fun and kicking ass (sometimes literally) this weekend. Very sad that I didn't get to come, but baby needed to eat. Hopefully soon we can meet up sometime!

Glad you managed to find a bag that holds all your stuff, even if people on the bus hate it :D

I only use the jumbo bag for Muay Thai days.  LOL.  It's Huuuuuuuuge.

There was not ass kicking so much as just not dying.  But I'll take that.

Challenge check in:

1. CANI

To improve, I need to work on the following in Muay Thai:

I've developed an elbow tendonitis problem ... & ... I will continue working my power in punching

Doing okay here.  I'm still working power punches and I think I'm getting back to Muay Thai 3x this week!  SQUEEE!  And I'm getting ready to set up a lesson to help with the hyperextension.  I wanted to be sure I was healed or close to healed before I did it.

2. Mental Toughness = I've been really good lately with mentally powering through some really tough training and I didn't quit during sparring with the pro coaches during my recent testing.

I start this work by remembering I always listen to coach and by making an appointment to work with my Muay Thai coach.

I still struggle with failure (obviously won't be fixed in 6 weeks).  I'm almost ready to set up an appointment with my Muay Thai coach.

Surviving 4T was a good step.

3. Emotional Control = fighters can’t get angry because that leads to sloppy fighting. They can’t afford to be out of control. Being out of control, in any sport, is dangerous. For me, this isn’t a big issue in sports BUT…. Find emotional control around diet in order to lose weight.

I'm fasting 1x week w only 100g in whey protein in a 24 hour period. I am thinking about more fasting. I will explore this possibility with coach.

Coach changed the diet - a lot - so I'm on a new diet and doing really well sticking to it.  Even whilst traveling - a good job.

4. The spirit of a warrior = First up, 6 promises (1 per challenge week) because I said I would.

I've kept 3 of my 6 so far.  Plan to work on one more today.

Alright.  BEST DAY EVER.   Why you ask?

Because in the span of maybe 90 mins at work I:

  • freed a bird that flew in and got stuck in our building all day
  • saw leeches (yup, for real live leeches... up close)
  • heard two guys playing a live guitar duet IN MY OFFICE and they were really good.  Singing and everything.

Life is AMAZING!

Joy fills my days.  (well, and leeches!)

Peeps actually looking out for other peeps rather than just talking about it. That is pretty damn cool.

I'll get to a weekend wrap up some time b/c nerds are owed.

But in the mean time, I have training to do!

BAM!  MUAY THAI!

I worked with a friend who hadn't been to class in a while.  I really like her so we had fun and worked.  I did a bit of jabbing.  Mostly soft jabs but a few decent ones.  I haven't jabbed in 3 weeks!

The go combo was all our punches for power followed by a kick with a hitch step to a knee - so you don't take all the time to reload.  Nice.  I really liked that.

And if anyone ever wonders about whether or not Muay Thai is hard.... well... we were leaving last night and somebody threw up after he left the gym.  Tossed everything.  BWAAA HAA HAAA  We didn't see it, just the aftermath, so we could laugh.  We don't know who it was.  But clearly, Muay Thai is haaaard.  My partner almost upchucked last night.  (it was not her b/c she was still in the gym when I left - but not feeling well).

Hard ass Muay Thai!

Got home and elbow was a bit cranky.  Took a super long steamy shower, iced, had a glass of red wine, tiger balmed and BAM feeling pretty damn good this a.m.  So.... I might be on the mend!!  SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

And I have a dilemma nerds...

We have a new health/wellness challenge starting at work. The theme is around the Olympics.  Senior Leaders have teams and we are supposed to sign up (if we participate).  You log your activities, etc.  Blah blah you get it.

I wasn't going to participate.  meh.

Then my boss (c-suite remember) sent around an email saying she expects we'll all be on her team.  Meh.  I still wasn't going to do it.  I mean, really, you get credit for housework?  No.  Not my kind of team.  And no I don't want people knowing what I do or how often.  So I ignored it.

Then, yesterday, turns out the COO is recruiting me for his team.  Damn.  He asked a mutual friend to recruit me b/c he wants a team of winners and really wants to win.  And then he told this mutual co-worker he saw me working out at the conference in FL (GAH!  remember - COO saw me in the booty shorts?! GAH!  He remembers... I thought the pain would have caused that part of his brain to fry).  Now they are recruiting me hard.  Promising beer and steaks.  And no, I'm not kidding.

But then boss found out and wants me on her team.  But there ain't no way that team is winning.

So what to do?  Not play or play to win or play to be nice?  (I don't play to be nice)
