yeah, I managed to not read all the posts before posting, like a dummy.  I don't know how I accidentally skipped so many!  :/

Does translating (primarily) Old English poetry/writing count? I think it does.

So, um, I'm SuNoYo, a twenty-two year old with crippling shyness and anxiety issues on her first ever six week challenge. My life quest happens to be getting back into translating again after eighteen months of minimal to no work at all. I'm aiming for fifty lines a week, where at my peak I could translate forty to fifty a day (it was in uni though, so deadlines), but at the moment my good laptop is dead and waiting to be repaired, and the one I'm on literally cannot handle OE specific letters without crashing NotePad (its only word programme).

I'll be running a deficit unless the laptop gets fixed quickly.

For now I'm writing by hand, but I have an old broken wrist that went untreated for years (we thought it was just a bad sprain), so I can't handwrite for too long. Annoyance is running high I have to admit.

Still, 5/50 lines isn't too bad.

Hello all!

I skipped the last challenge, and am a little late for this one, but now I'm back aiming for level 3. This time, with it being winter, I'm focusing on hiking, and as the weather permits, cross country sking and maybe ice skating.

I've also signed up for a myopia improvement program that I'm really excited about, www.frauenfeldclinic.com . I've tried a different program in the past, that was much vauguer, with little science behind it, and got slight results, but nothing worth writing home about. I'm hoping this one will be different, as it comes across as the nerd fitness approach to vision improvement. I'm also a little nervous, because while it sounds good, it's a lot of money that may be for nothing. Kind of like if you always followed the government low fat diet guidelines and got fat, then had to pay a few hundred bucks to learn to eat low carb, or paleo, or whatever. I'm 99% sure it's real, legit and will be worth my time and money, but it's really not mainstream.

I didn't put down a life goal, but I'm still playing fiddle, currently working on improving my speed and rhythm, especially my rhythm at speed.

I've also got a quilt I want to finish by May, for my mom's birthday. Or June, for Mother's day, or next December, for Christmas. I started it two years ago, so I really think it's time I finished it.

Semi good first week, didn't expect to get much done, end of holidays, start of work, start of challenge etc.

But for making things: I got the forge started up this morning and started on a new kitchen knife. Ready for grinding.

I think that following this program could be a good life goal. On the other hand, you're right: it's a bit expensive, but it sounds interesting.

Hey all!

This is me hoping I'm not too late to get in on this action.  ^__^  My name is Senie and I'm a 34 year old RN in Calgary AB.  I'm originally from Philadelphia (and yes, I do know where that West Philly playground is!).

I love to sing (like all the time), I have been reading and writing since I was a wee lass.  I picked up crocheting 'cause it's fun (I'm proud of myself - I've actually made two patterns so far) and... Well I'm a weirdo that actually enjoys creating and maintaining excel spreadsheets!  I've just started my first challenge today and after reading through this group's past challenges, I feel that this group has the kind of energy I need to succeed.

Congratulations on starting your first challenge!  I've found this group to be a "more the merrier" type group.  I'm not even being creative this challenge and I'm still here. :)

I've done better with my bedtime than I expected.

This week my biggest challenge has been food.  I didn't set up the correct rules for myself (I'm working on adjusting them), and even if I had I'm not following them this weekend.  Which I guess it is kind of hard to follow rules you haven't finished setting.  Also my kids snack food is way too tempting.

Also, I noticed how a LOT of people seem to be putting Stats and such into there signature lines and I would love to do this too.  My question is this: am I supposed to be picking the race and class that I want  to be and then loading stats into that?  And if so, is there some kind of 'Idiot's guide to RPG character creation' on this site?  I've seen the 'character creation' Wiki and it reads like hieroglyphs to me.

Yes!  I mean his snack food isn't total junk, it is "fine in moderation" and "fine if you aren't trying to get rid of 20 pounds of lazy" type food.  Some of it is also there because it dissolves/chews easily cause he only has his front two little teeth.  So mandarin orange fruit cups, graham crackers, baby gold fish, and animal crackers are all available.  I love them for those moments where I don't have time to prepare him something, or for keeping him busy for a few minutes while I do.  And I freaking love all those things.

Something we did in the first Renaissance Rebels challenge that helped keep the accountabilibuddy group activities in balance with each person's individual challenge. It seems to work best if you make your choice one that furthers one or more of your primary missions and and to keep your chosen action small and singular...

WEEK TWO SQUAD CHALLENGE!

While keeping all of the balls in the air, pick one to be your particular focus this week.

RRRLogo.png

Will it be FOCUS itself, CREATIVITY or LOYALTY?  Then...

TAKE ACTION - Commit to one small daily action that you can do between this Tuesday and Sunday to support your choice. Post your action below for accountability and support from the group.

And don't forget to HAVE FUN! (Hmmm. Maybe this should be a fourth ball...drat, too many. Hey, it does look like the lion is smiling while he's juggling, doesn't it?)

Still, 5/50 lines isn't too bad.

It sounds creative, challenging and rather esoteric. Welcome to the Renaissance Rebels and cheers for your first challenge!

Here's a good guide to the challenges, plus an FAQ, that will answer all these questions, and more. It takes a little time to catch on to it all, which is one of the reasons they modified the rules a few months ago to make a sort of on-ramp for the newbies.

Be sure you've posted your challenge thread in the Level 1 Rebels forum (there's a "Questions" thread there for additional information and help, too) and once you're successfully through your first challenge you can join one of the guilds. You're just supposed to focus on fitness goals your first challenge, but you're a creative type, so you are more than welcome to hang out with us to learn the ropes, ask questions, and have some fun!

When you have your thread up, post it back here so we can all subscribe to it and follow your progress...which reminds me....Roster and thread list below.

Edit - Oops, nevermind on the posting in the Level 1 Rebels Forum. I found your thread. I'll leave the info in there for any other newbies that might read it, though.
