Mission One - Compete

I plan to compete in a powerlifting competition at the beginning of February. This novice comp will fall at the end of week 4 of the Challenge. My mission is to actually compete in this an not chicken out!!  While I have some goals in mind for weights to hit, I am not going to make them a part of this challenge and put the pressure on - this is more about having a go and getting more comfortable in a competition setting.

 

Grading

A - Compete

C - Do not compete for a good reason

F - Chicken out!

 

 

Mission Two - Eat

+2 STA +1 CHA +1 CON

Somehow, after eating everything and anything I want over the Christmas Break and not doing much training I think I have come out with slightly less body fat then before yet weight slightly more. I don’t have any official data for this - just a feeling. But I think my body needed a bit of a refeed.


This challenge will be all about getting back on track and into a good routine. I want to track my food everyday (including weekends), and keep my calories below maintenance on weekdays. Weekends I will try and still keep things on track, but with some breathing room.

Mission Three - Conditioning

I aim to start adding in some conditioning to my weeks - probably add in another day of gym with skipping, prowler runs, tyre flips etc. I will need to take account of this in my nutrition needs in order to make sure I am recovering from workouts. My partner and I will be doing this together to make it fun :)

If this starts to affect my lifting significantly then I will give myself a free pass to give it a miss!

My program is going well - took some time off over Christmas as i didn't have access to a gym but i am back into it now :)

This week i will be doing 3x3 almost at my current max weights (or that is the aim anyway!), followed by 3x1 above my current maxes next week :o and then i take a week off (or a really light week) leading up to my comp! I'm starting to get quite nervous and it doesn't look like i will have my own belt, wraps etc for the comp so will have to borrow them.

Days off for Christmas is understandable, we've got to make time for family. But I'm glad to see you hoped back onto your program quickly!

Your goals for this week look awesome! You'll do great!

And I'm sure you'll do just fine at the competition! Just think of the nervousness as if it's excitement, then embrace it, while screaming WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM!? That might help :D

Monday (Day 8)

 

Squatted 3x3 last night at only 2.5kg shy of my 1RM - felt hard but good so i would say i am definitely going to PR on this in singles week next week :)

The belly bloating that i have had since Christmas finally disappeared overnight last night and i woke up to being able to slightly see my abs again - great feeling knowing you are back on track :) I bloat really easily when i eat crappy foods. I am lactose intolerant but still insist on having it so that probably has a lot to do with it!

Tuesday (Day 9)

 

Ugghhh gym today was terrible. Was supposed to do 3x3 at either 40 or 42.5 kg and after repeated attempts all i could manage to do was 3 single reps of 40kg (interspersed with failures). Not sure whether it was just because I was sore & Tired, or because i psyched myself out but i was pretty annoyed with myself :(
