MsFitz
For this challenge, my main goal is to stay on track. I have lost a good bit of weight, made some nice weight lifting progress, and gained some great eating habits. The holidays were rough and I missed some workouts and ate some junk. Now I'm refocusing and kicking it up a bit. I have some work stuff and online classes coming up and I know I'll want to slack on myself, but I will use this challenge to help keep me focused on my health. 1. Continue with Stronglifts. I will do this three times a week. NO EXCUSES! No more skipping a day here and there. 2. Eat yummy food! Paleo is clearly working for my weight loss goals so I'm sticking to my "mainly paleo" eating. I'm taking this up a level by sticking to it on the weekends too. No more hitting the drive thru and munching on junk on the weekends. 3. No more alcohol!? I've already mastered the no soda level. Now onto no alcohol. I know I can manage six weeks with no alcohol. (Unless my birthday falls in this challenge. I didn't check the dates that closely.) For my small side goal, it is going to be to update this thread at least once a week. This will help me focus and connect with others for support. Stats: 5'0" 143lbs 36" waist End of challenge: 134.6lbs 33.5 waist Stronglift stats are in the next post. MsFitz
I measure my waist around my belly button so I get the same spot each time. The top part of my tummy is bigger though and kind of bulgy. Any way to lose that fat or will it just happen eventually? Or will it always look weird because I had babies? Anyway, nailed my workout yesterday and joined some Facebook friends in a plank challenge. Ate nice and clean for two days. My version of paleo is a bit loose, I think. Plus tomorrow is pay day so we had to eat baked potatoes the last two nights. It's what we have here lol. I went back to work today and packed some yummy tuna salad made with homemade mayo and hard boiled egg. I'm going to double it for tomorrow. That was not enough food! Kids come back to school tomorrow, so my eating schedule will be set. I need to make sure I fill up good in my 20 minutes! PrincessHeather
There's no way to spot reduce. Depending on your genetics and your body's tendencies, you store fat in a particular way, and will gain and lose in certain areas first. Just the way it is! But sounds like you're doing all the right things to lose fat, so good job! Keep it up! It's less important to be "strict paleo" than it is to stick with a plan that focuses on good stuff, like protein and veggies. I accidentally went to an old challenge thread and commented there, haha, but looks like you've come a ways alread "On Wednesdays we SQUAT"www.healthyprincessblog.wordpress.comCurrent Challenge | Coconut Oil is Magic | My Fitness Origins | My Epic Quest for Happily Ever After Link to comment
MsFitz
I still had the old one linked in my sig. I've been using my phone for everything and don't see the signatures. Fixed it! MsFitz
Just for "fun" I tracked my food today. I even broke out a scale and weighed stuff! Here's how I did.Calories: 1338Protein: 103gCarbs: 84gFat: 64gI ate more fat than I intended today, but overall not too bad. Today is a rest day so I think that's enough calories. I'm amazed at how full I get on so few calories with paleo. PrincessHeather
Have you ever calculated your TDEE? Based on your weight and your activity level, 1300 cals seems like it might be a really big calorie deficit, which might be working for you now but sometimes people stall out and/or find it unsustainable. But if its working and you feel great, no worried "On Wednesdays we SQUAT"www.healthyprincessblog.wordpress.comCurrent Challenge | Coconut Oil is Magic | My Fitness Origins | My Epic Quest for Happily Ever After Link to comment
MsFitz
I have, I don't remember what it was right now. My fitness pal has me around 1600 a day. I don't track every day, but I do have days at or over the 1600. I don't eat 1300 often. I bet it may even been that I was tracking so closely that day so I ate even better Maybe I'll track tomorrow since it's a weekend. Weekends are my tough time to stay on track.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment
MsFitz
Yesterday was one of those crazy-busy Fridays. We ended up grabbing pizzas when we finally made it home after 8. BUT I did not eat any pizza! I steamed veggies and fried some eggs! MsFitz
I had a 100% Paleo day today! I usually have a protein shake, but I stuck to all real foods today and got plenty of protein. I'm not giving those up for good though. They are my breakfast/caffeine during the workweek. Great workout tonight too! 115 squats, 80 bench, and 85 rows. Now for sleep!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment

PrincessHeather
Way to have willpower and not eat any pizza! Also, your frittata looks amazing. As for your cals, just keep awareness of your energy levels as you keep progressing so you can make changes when necessary. MsFitz
I went with a "weaker" workout tonight since I'm feeling yucky today. It's that time of the month and I just want to curl up and sleep lol. But I figure something is better than nothing! Plus one of my kids wanted to try to lift too! Can't let her down. Look at her squatting that curl bar! I did squats up to 95lbs and overhead press up to 55lbs. I feel so much weaker during this time but I know it won't last long! I have a day or two where I'm just exhausted. In the past, I would just skip the workout and do nothing so this is a step in the right direction! Food was not too paleo for dinner tonight. Still chicken, but there is no way that there's no sugar in this sauce. The rest of the day was good though. I don't count my breakfast protein shake. Otherwise I wouldn't get any food or caffeine in the morning. I don't count that against my "mainly" paleo mindset. MsFitz
I had two cookies yesterday but I realized they weren't all that great. I could really taste the sugar and flour in them. Guess I don't care for cookies much any more! They were my one slip of the day, so overall pretty good! I have another super busy weekend coming up including a party at a bar. Wish me luck not drinking!! Sukiyo151
You're doing amazing! I am also getting used to turning down free food. I had to sit there while 10 people ate cupcakes on my birthday. It was really difficult. It is getting a little bit easier, and I think as my friends and family come to understand my paleo ways there will be less to turn down. Something that has helped me is to remind myself of the healthy food I ate already and have planned for later. Then it sounds like there is plenty to eat, and it is all better than whatever treat someone is offering me. MsFitz
My husband's not home to spot me tonight, so I took it a bit easy on the workout. I know I won't get to workout tomorrow and I didn't want to skip it altogether. It was still a good workout and left me feeling like I kicked some ass!! The paleo part, not so much today. My kids want to have a non paleo dinner once a week and we settled on "Fun Friday" dinner. I had tuna melts. Tuna salad made with home made paleo mayo on whole grain English muffins with a slice of American cheese. YUM! Tasted pretty damn good after the workout. A little carbs can't hurt now and again. Plus, it keeps my minions happy Again, I'm shooting for "mainly" paleo in my diet. As long as I don't go off the rails, or eat bad for too many meals in a row, I'm calling it a success. Here's tonight's workout. I already had weight on the bar, so I threw in a few deadlifts with it at the end. For fun lol. MsFitz
Just realized I only lifted 2 days this week, Monday and Friday. I have been planking every night and started doing push-ups on my non lifting days. I'm up to 3 sets of 5 actual push-ups and 90 seconds of planking now. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week I WILL LIFT HEAVY SHIT!!!!! MsFitz
Awesome workout today! Still didn't get 135 on the deadlifts and I'll have to deload next time. But I got it off the ground this time. Progress! Also struggled a bit on 120 squats. Here's my workout and bonus pics.Squats5x455x455x655x853x1203x1201x120Overhead press5x455x455x555x655x655x65Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment
MsFitz
Tonight's workout had me deload on squats to 105. Nailed those! I struggled both to bench 85 and row 90. Also, I ate a Big Mac before working out and felt pretty sick toward the end. Lesson learned! MsFitz
Yesterday I did a bunch of squats with a friend, showing her how. Today I was working on a parade float. Lots of carrying lumber, jumping in and out of trucks, squatting down low to screw in boards, etc. So I started my workout kind of weak tonight, missing reps. But then!! Then!! I had my 3rd and final attempt at 135lb deadlift before I would have to deload. I nailed that bitch!! I was so excited when the bar came up the first time. I was yelling and jumping up and down lol. I got all five reps! I only weigh 140 right now!Check me out!Back to the parade float, it was very awesome being able to do all that work today. The last few years I've been on the sidelines while everyone else worked. The stuff was too heavy or my sciatica would bother me. Not this year! This year I'm building a mother fucking parade float!!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment
