Apparently this guy (he does the ones I was talking about several times, like they are the easiest thing in the world! :eyeroll: )

although, in my opinion handstand push ups are by far the most impressive, even though not the most difficult. it must be the Assassin in me :)

I've posted him on the forum before, but this is Frank Medrano, bodyweight god.

He is impressive, and maybe it's just me...but I can almost feel his ego through the video...does that make sense? Like he is clearly skilled and strong and its great, but he seems to be showing off at the same time, rather than just being an example and inspiration, and he has the right to do that I suppose, but it makes me not as impressed as I would be with someone who can do that and be humble. Of course I dont know him and maybe Im entirely off base, but thats the impression Im getting.

Now when you can do all that, I'll be all fangirly and shit :P

I think it's hard to post videos on youtube and not look like you're showing off. I've never heard him speak so I really can't attest to his ego either way. I will say his physique is doubly impressive because of his diet. Did I mention he was vegan?

yeah thats true bc just by virtue of posting them, you must think they are impressive bc no one posts pics of their failures, well except Sean, but he is a wholly different breed. No you didn't mention that! I believe that every body is wired for different foods...so no one diet works for everyone and some Vegans are very healthy and some Paleoans are too, but there are people who dont do well on both of them too. I think ayurvedic thinking about your food choices is a very interesting way to look at it, you eat based on how your energy is balanced, so it can change from day to day but in general you eat mostly from one type of food bc your general nature is the same if you are balanced.

Time for an update. No gym yesterday, I fell asleep early. Went to the gym today, definitely felt a lack of energy, don't know why.

 

1 set of can openers ~10 sec

 

5 sets of tuck levers ~20 sec

 

5 sets of pull ups 10,10,10,10,8

 

3 sets of handstand push ups w/ 4 plates 14,7,6

 

3 sets of turkish get ups @60lbs singles

 

Also went to a therapist for the first time. I was actually able to open up a lot better than I thought I would and I realized I definitely need to talk about my issues a lot more. Bottling them up gives them way more power over me than they deserve. Overall a very good day. We'll see about my lack of energy. If it goes away tomorrow it was probably nothing. Until next time everyone.

Squat day! I'm starting to fall in love with squats again. This is definitely a good thing. Switched overhead and front squat today since overhead is slightly more form intensive. I definitely need to stretch a bit better, kyphosis is really starting to get bad on the front squats. Upped back squat by 5lbs as well, definitely can up it again next workout as well as overhead. Get ups went well, I'll probably stay at 60lbs 1 or 2 more times for now, it's fairly tough.

 

Overhead Squat 3x5 @105

 

Front Squat 3x3 @185 plus 1 set at 135 to rework form a bit

 

Back Squat 3x1 @225,250,280

 

Turkish get ups 3x1 @60

I love weighted squats, but bodyweight only ones I don't like...lol

great job going back to focus on the form...I have always thought it was essential to have great form before you ever start lifting really heavy :)

Amazing workout today. Yay dips! Felt much stronger today than on tuesday so that's good. I was surprised I got up so heavy actually. I haven't done heavy dips in a few months so it felt good to crush it. Push up weight needs to be increased next time I do them for sure. Probably 90lbs. Back tomorrow.

He is the god of bodyweight. I will be happy with 20% of what he can do :)

I did not know that he is vegan. That adds another level to his success. He is probably taking a lot of care to balance his meals and get enough of necessary nutrients for such activities.

I would like to see his weekly menu :)  (not because I want to be vegan, but it would be nice to have 1-2 really good non-meat days in the week)
