Haku's get-a-rhythm plan

I don't eat meat at all, but I know the best things you can get in your system with meat is the same as with all other foods: As close to natural as possible! Any processed foods, meat or otherwise, are going to mess up your system. So hard to rest well when your processing garbage! Glad to see you steering yourself towards cleaner burning foods!

Your drawing looks great, Haku XD I keep telling myself that I need to get back into drawing, but I'm too scared I'll just put horribleness on paper lol! I don't know if there's a way to resize a pic in the edior, short of using plain ol' HTML alone, but what I usually do with all my pics is resize them in MSpaint before uploading.

I totally agree about the meat, Kan. And yeah, I don't think most hotdogs and burgers one gets at the store can even be considered meat haha! But I gotta' have my venison, extra lean ground beef, and chicken breasts :3 And eggs. Definitely eggs.

D'aww thanks. Glad you like it. You should get back into drawing if it's something you like. And don't forget, practice makes perfect. I didn't get to draw this after having tried for only 1 year. I've been drawing all my life, for as long as I can remember. Even in the womb x'D They saw me with a little sketchbook and a pencil on the echo. Haha!

And yeah, eggs will help. :) I've heard that eggs are good. And they'd serve well as breakfast. But I suppose that there's a max on eggs per day. What would that be? One? Two? Something like that?

I'm glad too, that I'm steering myself towards cleaner eating, because I think that most of my lack of energy comes from eating the wrong foods. So how do you go around not eating meat at all? After all, there are certain things (don't know what they're called in English... Supplements?) in meat that the body needs, so where do you get those things? From what foods do you get the same stuff that's in meat, while avoiding eating meat? Because that's actually what I would like best. Not eating meat at all, yet still getting all the stuff I need for my body to function properly.

EDIT:

Aaaand another drawing of Loki. Look how tiny he is here! ^_^

I definitely need to get back into drawing at some point. Preferably soon. I have no idea where to start though. Maybe with some of the (many) drawing tutorials/references I've reblogged on tumblr "for that day when I draw again" lol. I recall that the I used to learn drawing best when I just copied or re-drew things. I used to draw a lot, but teachers taking my drawings away and ripping them in front of me in high school combined with people constantly saying "YOU'LL NEVER GET ANYWHERE IN LIFE WITH THAT!" made me quit. Assholes -_-

How many eggs you should have depends on many factors, but the main one is: do you like eggs? If yes, great. If not, then don't have them  I usually have around 3 egg whites for breakfast, but according to Kan, there doesn't seem to be a max for eggs lol!

For eliminating meat from your diet completely...citizenkade can probably tell you more about that (or check out the vegetarian or vegan subforums.) You were probably referring to amino acids, which make up protein. There are several kinds of them, and our bodies can only synthesize some of them, not all (there are 9 that we need from food.) All the amino acids are present in meat, but in (most) vegetables some are missing, or only present in very low amounts. All this means is that if one vegetable doesn't have a select few amino acids, you also have to make sure you eat an other vegetable or food item that does have them.

There's different "levels" of vegetarians, too. Some will allow eggs and dairy, or just one or the other, whereas vegans don't ingest any animal products. The best bet if you want to go meat-free would probably be to gradually eliminate various meats (and yes, remove the low-quality and/or refined meats first XD) I have no idea in which order, but that probably depends on personal preference.

Also beware some of the prefabricated vegan options (sausages, burgers) found in stores: some contain so many additives that it's hardly worth it. A general rule: if there are too many ingredients one can't pronounce on the back of the packaging, put them back.

Nice pic and new avatar, too XD

Naxius has a very good knowledge of nutrition!

It's true that meat covers a lot in the way of protein, iron, and B vitamins, but there are ways to get them from plant-based foods. If you are interested, I can send you a list of foods that help cover that!

But really, the best thing for your health is getting rid of the junk, and you're already starting down that road.

Oh, I'm very interested in such a list. I'd love to see it and learn from it. Thank you so much for that. :3 And indeed, I'm trying to get rid of all the junk in my diet already. I've just finished the bread that was in my house and the things to stick on the bread. No more of that for me either. I'm going to try and live without bread. Oh, and what vegetables are filling and can be eaten raw? Because I usually have bread for lunch in school, but since I don't want that anymore, I thought of bringing a box with veggies for myself. :)

I eat around 12 eggs daily. Chicken is one of the best meats from what I've gathered. I'm gonna have grilled chicken tonight now. :3

Wow 12 eggs! :o I thought the limit was much lower. I suppose it depends on whether the body will cope with it too. I actually like eggs, so I'm happy eating those.

Jeez, that sounds horrible, that they ripped your drawings in front of your face. No one has the right to do so in the first place, because a drawing is a personal creation. I would've become boiling mad towards those people, if I would've been in your situation back then. Seriously, you can draw. You don't have to get anywhere with it, you can do it as a hobby. Just for yourself and if you get good maybe you can do a few commissions for some pocket money... Things like that. That's the way I do it. I don't want to make drawing my profession, I want to do film directing and next to that I'll just draw in my own time. n_n And stick them on DeviantArt.

Yeah, exactly with the vegetables is what I need. I need to know what things I need to eat to get all the good things in my body. And I generally don't eat a lot of meat anyway. If I eat some it's in a restaurant and it's haute cuisine beef. Or I eat chicken at home. n_n Because that's the only thing I can make, haha!

And thanks. I like the new avi too. I just made that drawing as a doodle and I was like "Hey, it's square anyway. Why not use it?"

Today was a hasty day... ~_~ Met up with a friend, been to the psycho therapist... He said I was doing really well and so did the fysio. They were both very positive and now I have to make an appointment myself whenever I feel there's need for it, because right now they think I've got enough to work with and they see it's going really well with me. I stand up straighter, I look taller... I look like a real woman instead of a little ball of insecurity. :) Anyway, after that I went home, did grocery shopping and was JUST in time before the shop would close. YESSS!

I bought apples, pears, banana's, broccoli, champignons, carrots and walnuts. I don't have any bread anymore, nor do I have chocolate paste or peanut butter in my house. I'm not planning to buy those things again for a while now and see if I can find myself a way to live without bread. Onward to a cleaner diet! Onward to victory! [insert majestic and heroic pose and facial expression here]

Hah sweet! You're making excellent progress. Keep it up :) we can live without bread pretty easily. It's nice though. I've gone to making my own. And hey, honest question, why the vitamin pill? Was it recommended by a doctor, or just a personal decision? Or do you feel like your diet isn't meeting all your needs ?

You can eat ANY veggie raw, and you'll get all of the nutrients that way, too. For iron, you want dark, leafy greens like kale, chard, and spinach. Oh, and collard greens, too, which make a great wrapper for wraps.

My basic advice is "eat a rainbow every day". It sounds silly, but the color of the fruit or veggie tells you what vitamins and minerals are in there. Carrots are orange because of beta-carotene, your red and purple veggies are rich in iron, etc. So, by making sure you eat lots of colors, you cover a lot of your nutrient needs.

Nuts, seeds, and beans will cover a lot of your amino acids, and keep in mind that all veggies have protein, too. By mixing everything up, you get a good combination of amino acids, and a better, more complete protein blend!

I used to steam or roast my vegetables, but that kills about 70% of the nutrients, so I'm eating them raw now, and LOVING them! Good luck!

It was a personal decision. Since I've been eating poorly, I decided that it'd be best to just have a few vitamin pills, to be sure that I get in my body what it needs. Usually when I take them I feel slightly more energetic. It isn't much, but every bit helps, right?

Ah thanks. :) Great. And what kind of seeds would you think of then? I don't really know much about seeds, so I'll need some explanation on that. And I suppose you can eat mushrooms raw too..? Already got tomatoes and spinach on my shopping list, going out in a bit. Thank you so much for your help on the information about nutrition. Really, I don't think I'd been able to find out such things on my own.

Mushrooms are great raw, and a really good source of Vitamin D. If you don't like the flavor, soak them in tamari for a few hours!

Seeds from hemp and chia are great protein and Omega sources, and have a lot of other nutrients as well. I like pumpkin seeds, too.

Ah great. Yeah, I had raw mushrooms to school with me today and I really liked them. I also had raw broccoli, but I didn't like that too much. I thought it was too bitter. But maybe I can just have that in the evening, boiled and together with some fish or something else. :) I'll look into the seeds and see if they have any at the shop I usually go to.

Thank you for your warm welcome. Indeed I find the sleep very important too, although I haven't managed to actually go to sleep in time and wake up in time yet. I suppose that will start happening the coming week, because I'll have to start in my new term of school again. It'll be great to start with that.

Mushrooms are the best thing in the universe. I usually eat them right out of the package (they are my new go-to snack now that I'm trying to reduce my trail mix intake.) I've never tried soaking them in tamari, so that's definitely on my to-do list for this weekend.

I eat most of my vegetables raw as well, mainly due to laziness XD

Hahaha! I'm lazy too, like that. xD That's why I love having carrots. I used to buy pre-cleaned carrots previously, but I have decided that I'll just buy normal carrots, that I have to clean myself. Not only is it cheaper, but I'm pretty sure that those carrots are cleaner in the sense of no weird additives than the pre-cleaned carrots. :)

YES! Mushrooms and bacon. Those two things are my favorite single foods in existence. It's a close call for favorite food in existence though. Spaghetti is up there.

Haha! Bacon. I usually find bacon a bit too salty. It's not really my favorite, although sometimes it can be really good. I still try to avoid it, though. And really? Spaghetti? *shiver* I seriously dislike pasta. ~_~ Never really liked it a lot. Ah well, everyone has different tastes, that's what makes life interesting. n_n Not everyone is alike.

Total: 6 wins. Juuuuuust enough to win today's challenge. BUT I do have some good news. I've won one of the life challenges, which is getting only passing marks for this term's project. :D Hurray! And I got an insanely high mark for my philosophy. Unfortunately with that I haven't finished the propedeutic year, like I thought, but at least I'm getting closer to finishing it and I've already talked to my mentor what we're going to do about it. I feel very confident about it.

Tonight I went to a classmate with some other classmates and we watched the beginning of Coraline, which was cool, and after that we played a board game and I had to play a ghost. xD It was really funny. I lost, though, but it was cool anyway. I cycled back home quite late (only got home just now) and on my way I saw a guy I know and said hi to him. He was about to walk into a coffee shop (that's a shop where you can buy marihuana, y'know I live in the Netherlands and these things are EVERYWHERE) and it was the first time in my life that I had been into a coffee shop. I don't use anything like marihuana, but since I was sitting in the smoke, I think I still got some of the effects on me. So because of that I've been singing on the bike, in the hope that by singing and thus breathing well the effects would go away sooner. Unfortunately I'm still a bit woozy, so I'll be going to sleep in a bit, so I won't have to notice the effects anymore. I'm not a big fan of them. Anyway, it's a silly thing that I can cross off my life's to-do-list. Having gone to a coffee shop. xD So yeah, it was an unexpected adventure all of a sudden and it's given me a new experience, although it is not my favorite experience of all times. Oh well. First time for everything, right?

Anyway, I'm rambling. I'm signing off for today. The plan for tomorrow is to meet up with 2 classmates of mine at 11:00h at the gym and we'll go working out together. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll be able to keep my balance during the lunges. (My balance is really bad)

If you don't shoot, you'll miss by default.

Hah great that you crossed coffee shops off. Personally marijuana snoke gives me a really bad headache. I can only imagine what actually ever smoking some might do. Just the residual stuff from it kills me. I've actually walked in a room 2 hours after someone smoked one and had to leave their house for fresh air. Hey, maybe you should try for getting up at a earlier time? I have an easier time getting up at 5 than I do 5:30. I dunno if you're the same way or not, but I just remembered that.

Heh I'm odd when it comes to my spaghetti. I do almost no noodles, tons of sauce and parmesan, and a healthy portion of meat and mushrooms. I eat by the plateful :3 the best sauce is that which is made by your own hands.

Still doesn't sound very interesting to me. I generally don't like pasta, but I usually also dislike what comes with it, which is the sauce. Usually I find it too salty or too dull. Plus because of the tomatoes it tends to make it a bit sour too. In my opinion tomatoes should be consumed raw. xD I don't really like them as much when they're baked or when anything else's done with them.

As for the coffee shop, yeah it's funny that I can say I've been into one. At first I was hesitant to go in, but went inside anyway. It was a once but never again experience. The whole energy in that thing was just... I dunno, it gave me a headache and made me dizzy as soon as I stepped in and that wasn't even from the smoke. We've been in there for only a little bit, because then they closed and we had to get out. But I don't like marihuana smoke either. I mean, the smell of it can be okay, depending on how heavy it is, but I don't like the smoke part in it, your clothes start stinking of it and you get the effects of marihuana while you don't even want to be stoned in the first place.. >.< Which is what happened to me yesterday. I noticed it and I was like "Nope. Nopenopenope." I didn't feel frightened, because I could still think clearly, but my head just felt a bit woozy and that was uncomfortable. I like my head to be clear of anything, so I can think 100% sharp.

As for waking up earlier... That doesn't really work for me. I need my 9 hours of sleep. If I go to bed late I'll need to wake up late. And last night I didn't even manage to sleep 9 hours. I was lying awake because I was cold and in the end made myself a hot water bottle, which was at 2 o'clock at night. And I woke up at half past 9 this morning, so I only slept for 7.5 hours. ~_~ And I'll have to go to the gym in a bit. Having an egg and a banana for breakfast. It's not too much, but enough to keep me up on my feet. If I eat any more I'll get nauseous in the gym. Don't want that happening.

Well then, my list for today :

- Sleep 9+ h last night   FAIL

- Wake up at 7:30   FAIL

- Breathing ex. + grounding   WIN

- Say "I love you" to myself   WIN

- Take vitamin pills   WIN

- Eat no sugar   FAIL

Total: 5 wins. Not enough to win the whole day... >.<

Interesting, my sauces are usually a bit tangy and somewhat sweet. I try to take the sweetness out of it. I use herbs like basil, cilantro and oregano, but more garlic and onion powder (or chives). But we like what we like ;3 What kinds of spices do you enjoy on your chicken? I had grilled chicken last night and byte I'm curious about your tastes XD

A sharp mind is a useful one. Don't blame you one bit :3

Ah, I think your schedule is drastically different from mine. I hope your day isn't thrown off to badly by not getting enough rest.

Ah, I think your schedule is drastically different from mine. I hope your day isn't thrown off to badly by not getting enough rest.

LOL I don't know anything about spices. If I'm making something, I usually get some random spices and smell them to decide whether I'd like the combination of chicken and that specific spice. I always forget what it looks like, I always forget the name, so with every meal when I have chicken the whole ritual starts over again. xD At my own home I only have italian herbs, salt and pepper, but at my mum's house there are over 9000 spices, so I can try out all the things. n_n

Well, normally I just go to bed around 22:30 and wake up either at 7:30 or 8:00, so I sleep 9 or 9.5 hours a night. :P I need lots of sleep to function properly and 9.5 hours is the best for me. It makes me feel wonderful on a day. But if I go to sleep late I can't really sleep in very long. I just wake up, even when I've only slept for 7 hours. Dunno, my body just works that way. So how much do you normally sleep then?

Also the workout went well. I've been doing 20 minutes cardio on the cross trainer and after that muscle-stuff (like lunges, squats, ABC-abs and some other fun and not-so-fun things) and after that a 20 minutes cool down on the cross trainer. It was a good day. Still need to shower and wash some clothes. ~_~ Beh, I really am lazy today. xD

Spices are great. I love em. I grew my own basil :3 it's good for teas, and all Italian foods. They say if you can put salt on it you should put basil in it in Italy. Or so something said I read forever ago XD. *crushes his scouter* What! 9000?!?!!! Lol I loved the internet when that happened. Oh and I totally go by smell and taste as well.

I need more sleep. I have to try to go to bed earlier though, and I have troubles actually getting to sleep then. I typically get about 6 hours of sleep, going to bed at around 10-11 and waking up at around 5 or 5:30. I actually feel better if I can sleep during the day and get up in the afternoon, but alas I can't.

Hey at least you have an excuse :3 You didn't get enough sleep. Glad your workout went well though. I'm pretty darn sore after yesterday. Nothing too bad though. Keep your momentum up after a workout if you wanna push through the day. I suspect it's easier that way. I too, am really needing to finish my laundry XD

My lunchbox for today: As you can see there's carrot, mini tomatoes and mushrooms. In the plastic bags I have dried plums and dried apricots in one bag and walnuts in the other bag. And since it's all very delicious it's like I get to take a snack box with me instead of a lunchbox! Hahaha! How awesome is that?
