TennisGeek
I'm really having a bad day. I had to go back to see my doc, change meds. I had zero energy all day. After coming to office (dumb move), in the parking lot, I reclined the car seat, fell asleep and took a nap for an hour. All my messages today were sent from the waiting rooms. I worked. Not productive but I did stuff I can do. Left office like 8:15pm.Realized I need to do food shopping if I want to eat anything. I knew the fridge totally empty.I went to a grocery store, called home to see something my family wants from the store, bought stuff. At the check out counter, I realized that I left my wallet on my desk. I drove back to office, got wallet, went back to the store and checked out, came home, cooked.I sat down and eating as I write this message. "I'm sorry I'm super crabby, honey." I had to chase my wife away. Day like today, I really wish she can fix something for me.I stupidly muttered something along that line I wish she makes me something, and she says "why don't you ask me to cook" -- which I have to come up with a recipe that she can cook which is very very limited and takes forever to make anything. I cannot plan being really tired ahead of time. I don't think I'm going to work out despite not playing tennis. But, I think I am going to sleep early tonight. At least food I made is real food. captncid
By the way, have you considered asking your wife if she would be willing to cook starting once a week? It would start to help her skills and it would give you the time to mentally prepare for the evening. The other nice thing about www.supercook.com is the recipes are usually easy. Just a thought. ChristArtist
I have been fighting off a fibroflare...yeah, exercise is supposed to help fibromyalgia...until one does just a little too much, which this one does not recognize before it's already caused inflammation, which triggers fibro which triggers pain which triggers inflammation which triggers fibro! The pain caused need for narcotics, which caused a day of narcotic hangover. At least I don't have hangovers with alcohol...but it just doesn't do the same. Anyway - today...I am moving pretty well.I've already done three dog walks - first was 5 minutes, next one was a flic - fasting low intensity cardio. I was not able to get a correct speed, because I forgot to pause the MMW app when someone stopped me to talk. Oh well. At least it was faster than the 2mph I was hoping for at the beginning of the challenge. So - one walk was over 1 mile - 30 minutes, the second was half mile, 20 minutes...again...stopped to talk. I'm supposed to start some real workouts this week - per my goals...but I'm not wanting to over do. I have to be here at the trailer because we are expecting two packages...one is my awesome ionizer/alkaline water filter!!!! This water has made such a difference in my life! So - today, back to week two goals...and, hey, that says "10-15 minute aerobic" - so, if my heart rate got up to aerobic level while doing the third dog walk...does that count? have to think about that! TennisGeek
I'm eating enough but not eating the right stuff at the right time. What is someone's macro? My sleep was good until last night but I was tired yesterday too for seemingly no reason. This is what I understand. Some details may be wrong but I think I understand the basic idea. Your body is a chemical machine. When you don't have energy, there are many factors, but the big thing is the food intake balance, then the hormonal response (like thyroid problem and steroid intake). Macronutrients - often called "macros", is the amount (often in grams) of carbs, fat and protein you want to take for your goal. It's because the calories are not created equal in terms of converting food to energy, the composition of food affects your energy level throughout the day. The problem with grains/beans is that, it's so high in carbs that your body cannot sustain burning sugar consistently.Basically, you get energetic like giving a candy to a little kid. After a while, you crash because the brain/body misses the sugar in blood.Even fruit juice does the same thing because it has too much fructose and it's dense in fructose. It's a scientifically proven addiction. Sugar addiction. (Google "Fat Chance: Fructose 2.0" and watch it.) Once your body is adjusted to burn the body fat, and not feed high carbs, the energy level tends to be even all day.Me and my friend/coworker observed this in first hand. Your body starts to not rely on the sugar coming from stomach, and fat cells starts to release sugar more easily. In short, by removing insulin from blood stream, fat cell's insulin response improves, and with less insulin present in the body, fat cells release sugar easily. Insulin is the one which keeps energy in the fat cell. "Energy" - as brain consumes 25% of body energy you burn, how much sugar your fat cells readily provide to keep brain going has a lot to do with energy level. When you keep the intake too low, whole body starts to hold onto fat storage. Metabolism slows down - the rate your fat cells and liver's glycogen release slow down. Your brain doesn't get much sugar from your fat cells. You feel draggy. Your whole body is getting into "no food survival mode." - starvation response. I got into this, and felt "no energy" for a month. It's no fun. Knowing how much energy you need is important. You need to feed enough calories to keep your body going healthy and when you exercise, your body needs certain amount of nutrients to recover. The composition of food (macronutorients) is important to control the insulin/leptin response. Too do macro math, I recommend this web site.
