Played with Big Al. 7-6, 5-7, 3-4

Big Al was serving pretty well. My serve is coming out from funk.

Played a match in the doubles league. 1-6 3-6.

It's kind of depressing but I'm clearly the worst player in the league. Everyone is playing at the college level and I'm not that good.

Anyway, I haven't win any service game of mine. I need to improve serving to begin with.

Played a match with my old pal. 7-5, then practiced serve.

Forehand - I can hit some balls pretty well but inconsistent.

Serve - I need to make it a little better overall.

Played 1 hour, just hit.

Focusing on hitting big, and very inconsistent.

For now, I think I am going to focus on hitting big. That fixes a lot of issues. Footwork and swing are forced to be really good in order to swing fast.

I'll forget the consistency during practice for a while.

Played 3 sets of doubles, 2-6, 6-3, 4-6 with my old pal, chinese restaurant owner, and 3rd best player of club.

Basically, all my pals.

It was a great fun.

I need to fix up my serve a little better. Something is not quite right.

It's time to bring out a camcorder.

Played 2 hours, 2+ sets with the 3rd best player of the club.

2-6 1-6 3-4

I think the games were a little more competitive than the score suggests, as there are a lot of deuce games.

A few points here and there prob. changed the score.

With my old, heavy racquet, my old bad forehand swing shows up. With my new, lighter racquet, my new better swings shows up.

My hand panics with the old racquet, and tries to use my wrist to meet the ball.

With lighter racquet, my hand knows that it can swing through the ball, thus I can hit better.

I think I am fully switching the racquet.

I have to learn to be able to put a little more swing speed with the new racquet as the pace of serve seems a little slower because the racquet is lighter, but I think I can do that.

Played for an hour, hit balls with a club staff. (Nice of him.)

Thursday, I was too exhausted. Friday and Saturday, I was working on the volunteer work.

So, this is the first time I had a chance to hit balls.

Played two hours with the chinese restaurant owner: 6-2 6-1 4-3

With deeper knee bends, the serves have a little more edge. It's also easier to direct serve with knees more flexed.

Forehand - I had a couple of really good shots, particularly down the line. He hits pretty flat shots so it's not that hard to swing freely.

Played for an hour. Difficulty: mid- 6-5 at the bell.

I need to clean up my forehand a bit as it is fraying.

Considering that I used to wiff the ball hitting forehand, it's much better but it's still muddy.

As usual, my serve is really a slow start. It gets better as the match goes but I need to find a way to warm up better.

Played an hour. Difficulty: mid-, 6-7 0-1

It is absolutely disappointing to see my forehand not coming through.

My serve however is getting groove back. I need to hit more spins even for first serve.

I had two good overheads, so it was pretty good.

Played for 2 hours - Difficulty: Mid- 4-6 6-2

I played the same guy. I know I don't need to lose games but as I am test driving the forehand at game speed, I'm making a lot of mistakes.

His shots are perfect to practice the forehand.

After first set, I decided to play a little tighter game.

The serve is definitely getting better and more spinnier. I like it. Deeper knee bend and more unit turn creates better spin.

Played big Al for 2 hours. 4-6 4-6 4-0

I tried to hit more kick serves and it's not as good as it used to be, but it does kick some.

I don't have a good feel of ball yet but it was a good start.

I had good energy and that allowed me to focus better somewhat.

Big Al has such a good hand that some of shots are ingenious. It comes from start playing tennis at young age, and playing through college.

I really suspect that the biggest reason I'm late for the ball is my eyesight.

There were a few matches. My forehand struggle continues. In practices, I can hit pretty well.

In the matches, I cannot. I need to make it to my muscle memory.

The doubles league match. 2-6, 2-6.

Played My old pal, 4-6, 6-7.

My forehand was again a mess.

I hit with the google accountant twice, just to practice.

What I need to do - I need to keep my feet moving and hold the racquet in my hands as long as possible.

I was very happy with the tennis today, finally.

Forehand was better. The left arm assisting the take back very well, which stabilized the upper body rotation.

I didn't suck too bad.

Also, my serve was a little better in general.

In short, I sucked less than Sat.'s play, which made me very happy.

Went to the gym.

2014-12-17 Wed

Played with a pretty good player, difficulty - highish. 3-6 4-6.

This was probably the most interesting match I played in terms of my progress.

He is very smart player and doesn't do anything stupid, so I have to earn points.

He is fast enough to cover ground but more importantly he knows how to not lose.

I'm not particulary into winning, so in terms of learning how to win matches, he is an ideal guy to play against.

The match was very close. Although I lost both sets, many games went into deuce, and the result would have been very different if I made a couple of shots.

Played with 3rd best player of club. 3-6 1-6.

I was pretty pleased with how I played.

I need to improve two things. One is a backhand wide deep. My reply from deep corner almost always is short, and a good player can either put it away or I have to scramble after that.

The other is a better footwork to have a better spacing between the ball and body.

Played a few practice games for the doubles league team.

Two mixed doubles. It sure is much easier when the ball comes to me a lot slower in general compared to men's A doubles.

I played a singles for 30 minutes, 4-2 against a lefty 3.5. He doesn't have much of game but at least he knows how to be lefty.

I regressed during the match. Trying to not lose is bad. I need to play up all the time.

Forehand not working quite like I want it to be is frustrating but for the sake of improving, I need to keep push my forehand.
