Good evening...or morning (ugh, time differences, wibbly wobbly).

 

I'm Doug and I've obviously just joined Nerd Fitness. I live in Auckland, New Zealand, and I'm 35 years old. The past year or so has been full of changes for me. After 10 years I left a really unsatisfying and stressful job in advertising and started a degree, majoring in Anthropology. Also, one day I looked down and my belly was much bigger than it used to be, so in January of this year I started running. Over the course of the month I managed to run a total of 76km (or 47.22 miles for those of you still using imperial units). I hope to better that number this month. I also managed to run 5km (3.10 miles) in 30:35. This time is also something else I'd like to beat.

 

Ultimately, my first goal is to be able to run 5km without feeling like I want to collapse afterwards. And once my fitness has improved, I would like to introduce a body weight workout routine 3/4 times a week.

 

So yeah, that's me.

 

This seems like a really cool and supportive community and I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you a little better.

Hi.  Way to go man, you're already way ahead of me since you can actually run 5k (either with or without dying at the end of it).  That's what I'm trying to work my way up to, so kudos!

Welcome to the rebellion! Great job on the goals so far, I am signed up for a 5k next month and collapsing at the end is a huge fear of mine :D
