Challenge Week 1 Recap

Wow, has it really only been a week? Feels like it’s been a month.

Goal: Run 1.5Mi Non-stop

Plan: Couch to 5k program 3x per week

Actual: I ran once this week. In all fairness I still worked out 7 days but Alex re-claimed one cardio day and the rest was a flop. 1/3

 

Goal: 1 Freestanding Handstand

Plan: 5min 3x a week

Actual: Fail. 0/3

 

Goal 3: Eat to my Macros

Plan: Cal/C/P/F  1500 / 150g / 113g/ 50g

Actual: 5/7 is what I would go with. Saturday and Sunday were kind of crazy days.

 

Side Quests

Remedial Spanish 3x/week 0/3 ß Honestly I’m wondering if I have the interest in Spanish considering it’s not exactly all that useful in Nebraska.

Cleaner home: 5/7 ß house wasn’t COMPLETELY clean when I left for Des Moines on Saturday.

Stretch Daily/Meditate: 3/7

Write my Childhood story book: 1/1 (Working on it now actually)

its really bugging me that my weight isn't going down. Or my inches. 6 workouts a week really should do it. I'm not eating crappy. Yes, I've had a couple restaurant meals..but nothing consistent. I don't get it.

I wish I had some advice on this... Do you think you've hit a plateau?

Good job last week!

 

Also, totally jealous of the meeting-up!    Looks like you guys had fun :D

 

Andddd don't stress about the weight.  One day you'll be lighter or less inch-y.  Plateau's happen, they suck.  Don't let them get you down!

I think it's a mix of metabolism shock from quitting smoking, and changing my diet with the macros.

 

I just feel like it should have normalized by now.

Two things -

 

Alex DID have you eating a lot of carbs there for a while, so I bet that's a big part of it. I mean, a lot more carbs than you had been eating, plus a lot more calories, too.

 

Also, smoking affects your hormones (see here), and allowing your body to get back to normal on the hormone balancing may take a few months. It always takes me at least 3 months to feel normal when I go off/on birth control. Not sure about smoking, but that could definitely be a factor.

You had a good first week amidst major stuff happening.   I seriously look at your routine and get all spinny just as an observer!

I think you're gonna have to be patient with your body as it adjusts to quitting smoking, which... ya know OMFG AWESOME!  And change in diet and workout load.   Our bodies are so efficient, and they like routine.   So when things change, our body gets hella stubborn and is all, like, OMG, Wut?  Wut r u doing?  Aarghghhs!  How about ...

And then eventually, you just keep at it, and it becomes the new routine for the body and your body is all

Food log will be weird, because I have to be up for Maintenance tonight at midnight till whenever it's done. I imagine I will be hungry. No coffee though, because I will want to go back to bed before work and hopefully running in the am.

Those shoes are SUPES CUTE. More importantly, you will probably feel SO much better running in them!

 

Also, doesn't Nebraska have like THE BEST sunsets and sunrises?! I love them. So much. <3

Nebraska does have some of the most colorful and wide angle sunsets I've seen, but a sunrise in the Smokies.. that's an experience. Also, sunset on the blueridge parkway will leave you awestruck.

 

 

Yay shoes! I lost my awesome purple Brooks.  I need to get new ones.

Heee, I hate it when after a workout your arms no longer work!    Thankfully for me, my arms recover pretty fast.   My legs are rat-bastards to me when they get pissy.    But yay, I get so excited to see how excited you are when you get to go skating.   So so so awesome.

 

Seriously.   At some point this summer, you must come out here and I will get you in my friends adult instructional class, so you can use my gear and gear up head to toe and get a stick in your hand and a biscuit to throw around!
