I hope so.. maybe you should see a doctor for it?

Haha I'm in medicine. I know what would happen.

"My wrist hurts."

"Did you hurt it?"

"No."

"Do you want an xray?"

"No, it's definitely muscle or tendon. Not bone. It just hurts to hang my entire bodyweight on my wrists."

"... Stop doing that."

"No...?"

My right wrist has developed a new pain. It feels like a reeeeally sore muscle. At least I hope it is. Tendon injuries suck. There go my plans to get back into hang board and rock climbing... It'll be a while. If this keeps up I might have to chill out on bench press and overhead press. I think I am extending my wrists a lot with the weight and straining one of my wrist muscles. I am in denial still. I hope I wake up feeling better tomorrow T-T

Nooooooooooooooooooooo. Gosh, I hate injuries! I get injured all the time. I have a protocol that I follow to quickly recover. It basically involves backing off from directly exercising the injury, taking lots of ibuprofen, eating something with a lot of collagen, such as bone broth, and maybe taking magnesium. I also like to come on here and whine about it, that generally makes me feel better. lol.

I used to injure my ankle a lot, and then I figured out some ankle-specific strengthening moves that have really decreased my ankle injury rate. It might help you, once you have healed, to find some wrist-specific strength moves, especially if you are prone to being wrist-y.

Thank you for the advice!

One of my friends said it is because I am bending my wrists back during bench press. I am going to be watching my wrists carefully at the gym and adjust my form so that they stay straight.

Okay, so on goal #2: I measured this morning before breakfast as 25.5", which is bad since I wanted to go down from 25.325" not up. After lunch I was 26.5", but after dinner I was 26". What does it mean!?!? Is this a huge waste of effort and worry? My body fat has basically not changed at all. I am only putting on muscle (weight has gone up 1-2lb). The problem with fitting into my wedding dress is the waist though. Especially because I can't let it out (no extra fabric). 7 weeks to go. UGH! *grumble grumble*

I forgot to say, I have counted calories before and I know what a deficit feels like. I have definitely been hungry lately, thus I'm surprised it went up.

Today (Monday) I was 25.0" before and 26.0" after breakfast. What the... What do I do now... Oh well. *stops caring* I'll just keep this up and try my dress 3/22 or 3/29 and see.

Hmmmm.. I do know my stomach is a bit slimmer and, um, sturdier? When I did a workout that day.

I have too! I was thinking of having a really early breakfast and working out so hopefully I'll fit in it well. I should probably schedule my last fitting...

Week 3 Update:

I am doing well, and hitting all my goals. I am even getting through my manga faster than expected.

My biggest issue right now is my right wrist. It's starting to get to the point where I think I won't be able to finish the 6 weeks out. It doesn't hurt unless I use it, but I feel like lifting weights is not helping. I have changed my form and immensely improved my wrist stress during exercise, but I think it might eventually take some time off to really get it back to normal.

I want to be able to rock climb pain free during my honeymoon (April 27th and onward). This challenge ends April 6th. We'll see... I'm still undecided right now. I feel like it's getting a little better, but then I feel like it hasn't changed other times. =,=

Here it is. Basically, he lost a bunch of bellyfat by doing pull-ups: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2014/03/13/that-time-i-did-2440-pull-ups-the-60-day-plp-challenge/

Sounds like a very frustrating injury. Seems like you should give your wrist I bigger break. Maybe see how it feels again in a week? Sending healing vibes your way.

Interesting, but if I'm going to do pull ups I might as well just do rock climbing training in general. Also pushups put my wrist in the painful position (hyper extended) that bench and overhead presses do.

You may want to immobilize your wrist as much as possible, my BF hurts his while climbing and spent a few week sleeping with a roller blade hand protection and straps his wrist all the time when climbing now. If you're careful it should be better in a few weeks. :) If you still want to do pushups, do them on your knuckles or on paralettes, the neutral position for wrists should help.

Hi Sukiyo! I just realized I haven't stopped by to cheer you on. How is your wrist doing? I'm sorry you're going through that but laying off it for a little bit might be the best option in the long run. Are there other exercises you could work on that do not involve your wrist?

Haha thanks for returning! :)

I know... But I fee like "taking a rest" = failure/giviing up. It's depressing :( And there is no guarentee it won't come back when I start again. Ughhh I don't know yet :(

I tried a wrist brace but it's really more for carpal tunnel/pain with wrist flexion. I have pain with wrist extension from weight lifting.

I will try knuckle pushups. Sounds harder, but if it will help prevent wrist exacerbation I will try!

I'm going to work on my form when lifting for this week to see if it helps. Straight wrists! If it doesn't I may stop... For sure after this six week challenge I'm taking a wrist break.

Whoa! I want to be able to do that too! Been trying for a while now lol :) good job!

I hope the knuckle pushups work for you, I'd hate to see you go! :(

Start easy and work up to it. Two/three months ago I couldn't even touch my toes with the same side arm. It has been a daily effort.
