My attempts usually result in me awkwardly hurling myself at the ground for more of a lopsided barrel roll than a graceful fun cartwheel. Good for laughs, but not much else. Keep on dancin'! And I've always wanted to, since I was a kid. I did the weird "barrel roll" thing too. Still sort of doing that a bit, just with better form. I feel like learning to do a cartwheel is going to be hard, but once I'm able to do one, it will seem so simple I'll wonder what the trouble was (that's the hope anyway!) Aw yeah. Day 27 Report: Rough day... I didn't use My Fitness Pal and neglected to log anything I ate. I had a blueberry pancake in the morning, but didn't really eat any "meals" after that and just grazed throughout the day. I really don't think I made my protein goal. Rotten! But very happy to be back on track for Sunday. We all have those days, I know. But it still sucks when they happen... Feeling good today! (It's only 8AM and I've already got a workout in!). I'll post today's update later along with my weekly summary. My last challenge I had opted to cut out any life quests to ensure I could get my time management more in line, still something I have issues with. Between work, home, going to the prewife's, all the other stuff...it can be occasionally difficult to fit everything in, sadly sometimes we need to cut out stuff we didn't want to just to make sure everything fits. Beef was 27, pad thai was 25, peanuts was 9, potato was 3, salad was 8 (it had egg, peas... So definitely did not meet my protein goal. Day 34 Report: Sadly, did not make protein goal:Breakfast = Egg, toast, orange juice, coffeeLunch = veggie SamosasSupper = Chicken, potato, saladSnack = greek yogurt, apple Saturday was a FABULOUS day.Our local swing dance club held it's first ever big event. We hired a swing band to play live music, invited dancers from other cities on the East coast to come, held a competition, invited people from the community and offered a beginner's lesson... It was great! We were worried we weren't going to break even, but we sold out the venue and made money for our club! My BIG accomplishment was that I gathered to courage to enter the intermediate-level Jack & Jill competition (you are randomly paired with a partner and judged on your social dancing - ie improvised dancing!). It was so nerve-wracking but such a blast! The cherry on top was that my partner and I won 2nd place!!! I was NOT expecting that at all, but am beyond thrilled. I was shocked when I made the finals, and even more shocked that I got 2nd place. Still riding the high from that win and looking forward to doing another competition in the future! This has really motivated me to up my game. I'm looking to start doing dance exchanges and to travel out of town (and even out of province) for workshops. This is also motivating me to continue with weight loss. I feel if I'd been lighter, I would have been faster, had more stamina to keep the energy level up, and maybe would have had 1st place... who knows! Didn't really learn any new "moves" as we practiced musicality (changing your dancing to compliment the music... harder than it sounds). There wasn't much for me to do as a follower as I don't make any real "decisions" in terms of musicality... besides my own styling choices. BUT I did take some time at the free-dance at the end of class to practice leading, so I'm counting that as 1 new "move". Once of my dance goals during the next year is to learn how to lead. So hard to learn everything all over again as a leader... the footwork is mirror image, so everything is completely backwards in my brain!
